#325: Leaving on a jet plane

In January 2019, a year before the world went slightly mad for a while, Neale and Kev started a podcast with no idea how long it would run. I mean, who would listen to this, and why would they listen? Now 2,712 days after episode 1 aired, the show has an announcement, and we wanted you to hear it from the horse's mouth, as it were. It's a timely announcement, too, as Kev takes some extended leave in his beloved Spain. On top of that, we'll be answering questions about the most useless photographic gizmos we've bought, the cameras we regretted or admired, flash (a-aahhhh), the 50mm f2 versus the 56mm f1.2, does Kev not like zooms (?), assigning recipes to dials, and Lightroom meets video editing.  Email the show with your questions: [email protected]  For links go to the showpage. If you'd like to travel to far-off places with a camera: https://www.thejourneybeyond.uk/ Listen to Neale's other podcast: The Photowalk wherever you get your podcasts.

#324: Help, Bots are following my Insta, and gear on the road

Kev's edging ever closer to his Spanish retreat for the Summer, though nobody has warned the locals he has Mediterranean wind! The boys learn about Haoge, a 'new-to-them' place to buy third-party accessories for Fujifilm cameras, they celebrate the House of Photography, and talk about the importance of personal photo projects. Also, how to choose gear for the open road, key-wording images, Instagram Bot-Gate, and getting back into photography after time out to concentrate on family and mental health. Email the show with your questions: [email protected]  For links go to the showpage. If you'd like to travel to far-off places with a camera: https://www.thejourneybeyond.uk/ Listen to Neale's other podcasts: The Photowalk and Halfway to Maybe or wherever you get your podcasts.

#323: Jane Bown the Master and photographing cops!

The boys are in celebratory mode, even if only for a couple of minutes over a certain football trophy, but fear not, they're hiding behind the couch with one eye scanning the horizon for what's to come! On the show, the dos and don'ts of client slideshows online, clients making their own albums, the accuracy of focus peaking, IBIS and tripods, Robocop-type stabilisers, shutter speeds and flash, and photographing the cops!

#322: Dilemma: Moving away from Fujifilm?!? and sneaking cameras into festivals

Kev and Neale suddenly discover that their little ones have grown into adults! This week on the show, does using AI to cull pictures work? Can it possibly be as good as living, breathing beings making choices? Also, how many images do/should clients expect to receive from a shoot, charging for event photography when starting out, insurance and 'part-time' websites. Neale finds out we still have merch; have you bought a show mug yet? What would be a good compact-sized camera to beat those darned festival rules that say 'NO CAMERAS!' The link between leaf shutters and flash, and how good is that X100 internal flash? How about adding the different wide and tele conversion lenses to your X100 system? Just how good are they? And then, steady yourself, we find ourselves trying to help someone face the dilemma of moving on from Fujifilm! Email the show with your questions: [email protected]  For links go to the showpage. #301: What we'd do differently, and what we still regret

Neale and Kev swap their stranger wedding adventures, swapping being apt in the case of Kev's revelation! Also on the show, mouse v tablet editing, the money spent on kit we never use (!), great photo galleries and classic British pub suggestions to visit for a special tourist trip to London, how we'd run our photography businesses if we were to start again, advice on setting up an X100VI, Kev's best chess moves in church and the target market for the new X-E5 camera and new 23mm lens Email the show with your questions: [email protected]  Pic Time: https://www.pic-time.com/ - use FUJICAST when creating an account for discount offers to apply For links go to the showpage.

#292: The road ahead. Will we still be photographers in 10 years?

Kev returns from Spain and seems to have found a new career as a handyman, finding a particular passion for cutting stuff down to size with a chainsaw!!! Also on the show today from the mailbag, Neale and Kev answer questions about photographing solo professionally, shooting video alongside stills, showing unedited material to clients, posing v doc, choosing email and mailing list providers, Substack, invoicing software, and why do people think Kev looks like David Brent??!?
