    Community Champ, visiting novelist Anita Heiss

    One of Australia's most prolific and well-known authors, Wiradjuri woman Anita Heiss, is launching her latest novel Bila Yarrudhanggalangdhuray (River of Dreams) at Griffith City Library next Thursday, June 24. It's set in Wiradjuri country, weaving in Wiradjuri language throughout. Anita says should be of interest to the Griffith community, as we live on Wiradjuri land. This event is dedicated to the late Roger Penrith. Special guests on the night include Madison and Lisa Penrith, Maydina Penrith, Yaltara Penrith, Richard Penrith and Letetia Harris.     Community Champ, Art Gallery Ray Wholohan talking Archibalds

    Vincent Namatjira was the first Indigenous artist to win the Archibald Prize in 2020 for his portrait of Adam Goodes. This portrait will be hanging in the Griffith Regional Art Gallery from Friday.  Gallery manager Ray Wholohan shares what's on to celebrate: including the classy opening night, artist floor talk, lecture, paint classes and more.

    Community Champ, Carrah Lymer Banna Lane Festival Manager

    Banna Lane Festival manager Carrah has put her life on hold to organise this year's festival after it was cancelled in 2020.  It's been a big week for the city as a whole: celebrating mural artwork in the CBD and getting involved in education. This evening's (Saturday May 8, 2021) highlight event the Lighting Up The Lane is being held with Street Scapes, combined with a local makers market.
