The Line of Offence

Is stepping out and being proactive on concussions a lose-lose for the NHL, considering they're in the middle of a class action lawsuit? Anything you say or do can be used against you in a court of law after all. Or can the NHL actually do something to further their innocence and protect players?

Does trading away a player because of his attitude make for bad GM? After all, he is the manager and is managing the roster either way. But when you see stars like PK Subban, Taylor Hall, and Tyler Seguin being traded in their primes, you have to ask yourself: Are they doing it for the right reason?

When society rears it's ugly head and unfortunate events unfold we all have the freedom to say what we want on the subject. But what about athletes, such as NHL players? Should they be muzzled for the good of the business? Or should athletes be able to do what hey want becuase they are covered by the same rights as we are?

How does the NHL fix dueling currencies in its league? Canadian teams are at a significant disadvantage to their American counterparts when it comes to purchasing power. Could the NHL enter into futures contracts and act as a defacto "NHL Central Bank" for Canadian clubs? Or is a floating Canadian cap a better avenue for the league to create financial parity?
