Reach, Brand, Sales. Can you answer THESE three questions?

In order to grow your business as an entrepreneur, you must have a clear answer for these three questions: What are you doing to reach into new markets? How are you build a strong reputation for providing value in those new markets? How are you inviting people to buy? Finding the answer to these questions is a lot about experimentation in the beginning. You begin with a hypothesis, which says: "I think that if I turn up here, in this way, and offer this service, people will buy". This is not only about making informed decisions between multiple options, it's about going out and testing your hypothesis in real life, in the market. You test that hypothesis, get feedback, tweak and go again. You keep doing this until you have the answer, then you repeat that. This video was filmed at a recent DARETOGROW / Live event. I introduce the model, explain each stage, and encourgage business owners to find and test the three levels in their own business. What's Covered in This Episode: 00:00 – The only three things required to turn on sales 00:45 – What "Reach" actually means (and why strangers matter) 02:30 – Why shouting in the wrong room kills sales 04:10 – Brand is not logos, PR or aesthetics 06:00 – Why unclear websites repel buyers 08:30 – Sales as a separate, deliberate activity 11:20 – The signature programme model 14:30 – Selling without a fancy website 17:00 – "Whatever it takes" and finishing the thing 19:40 – The one exercise every business owner must do – REACH: Why Strangers Are the Only Way You Grow Lisa is very clear about this: If strangers are not finding you, your business will not grow. Full stop. Reach means breaking into new markets — getting in front of people who have never heard of you before but already want what you sell. There are people right now: Searching Asking Enquiring Buying And if they're not buying from you, it's not because they don't want your solution. It's because they didn't find you. Lisa uses a simple metaphor: A man on a market shouting "Potatoes! Two dozen!" That's business. But: A food market for that product beats a general market Saturday beats Monday (more footfall) 9–5 beats 3am (when people are shopping) Yet most business owners keep "showing up" in rooms where their customers aren't even there — because it feels cosy, familiar, and safe.   BRAND: How do you Build Trust, Quickly? Brand isn't just: Logos PR tags "As seen in" badges Brand is what someone experiences after Reach has worked. It's what happens when they: Click your Instagram Click your YouTube Visit your website Watch something Read something They should instantly understand: Your approach Your methodology What makes you different Who you help How you think The brand of trust you build should do the heavy lifting before the call. For example:   SALES: Inviting Customers to the Next Step Sales is a separate activity from reach and brand building. Sales is where you say: "Here's the offer" "Here's what it is" "Here's the price" "Here's how to begin" Lisa believes every business should have: One signature programme A clear upsell A clear downsell Everything else is: A lead magnet A paid trial A micro-offer An innovation This is because of the time involved in producing these offers. A lot of early entrepreneurs make the mistake of spreading themselves too thinly and never having the time to truly focus on learning to sell one thing well.   A Challenge: Can you write one sentence or one short paragraph for each of these: 1. REACH How are new potential clients finding you? Examples: "I attend six networking events a month." "I speak at two events every month." "I post Instagram Reels (trial mode) and reach 500 new people weekly." "My impressions are growing month on month." If you can't show this – growth will not happen. 2. BRAND What can people click, watch, or read to understand you? What explains your process? Where do they hear  what you think? What demonstrate how you work? What makes you you? 3. SALES What pulls new customers to the front of the room? It could be: A webinar A discovery call A programme start date An invitation to talk   Final Thought Sales don't turn on by accident. They turn on when: Strangers find you People understand the value you offer You invite them to buy Reach. Brand. Sales. Three separate skills. Three separate activities.

I Put On My Dream Show – Here's What I Learnt

A few weeks ago I did something I've never done before. I put on my first ever theatre-style business show: Laugh or You'll Cry. A full script. Lighting cues. Sound cues. Slide timing. Jokes I had to actually write and rehearse. For someone whose speaking style is usually "a few bullet points and make the rest up as you go along", this pushed me right to the edge of my ability. But what surprised me the most wasn't the logistics of putting on a show… it was what it did to my nervous system. In this episode, I'm taking you behind the scenes of the experience and sharing a huge lesson about business, dreams, and how the commercial side of your business actually funds the life you want to create. Because here's the truth most entrepreneurs need to hear: Your business funds your dreams… until your dreams can fund your life. At the start of business, you don't have a reputation. You don't have proof. You don't have a community behind you yet. So you can't trade on reputation. You have to trade on value. You have to do the thing first, gather the evidence, and then use that evidence to grow the opportunity. That's why you can't cheat the process. And why chasing a big dream will always take you to the edge of what you think you're capable of. Most people turn away from that edge. But if you can sit in that discomfort and see it through… you don't walk away the same person who started. What's Covered in This Episode (Timestamps) 00:00 – Why I decided to put on a theatre-style business show 00:30 – The idea behind Laugh or You'll Cry and what I wanted the audience to feel 01:15 – The reality of producing a scripted show (lighting, sound, slides and timing) 02:18 – Why this pushed me far outside my normal speaking style 02:36 – The unexpected impact it had on my nervous system and business focus 03:14 – Writing jokes for the first time and the pressure of not knowing if they'll land 04:05 – Why pushing your dreams will take you beyond anything you've experienced before 05:00 – The moment you become a different person after doing something hard 06:06 – Why failure becomes less scary when you change the story you tell yourself 06:55 – The biggest business lesson from putting on this show 07:02 – The difference between your commercial model and your dream 07:29 – Why you can't trade on reputation when you're just starting out 08:05 – Why you must gather evidence before opportunities grow 08:29 – How small audiences are actually the path to bigger stages 08:57 – Why following your dream will always take you to the edge of your ability If you're building a business and trying to balance what makes money with what really matters to you, this episode will help you understand why the two don't always align at the beginning — and why that's completely normal. Our Secret to Staying Consistent on YouTube (We Film 5 Videos in ONE Day)

Being in business is hard. It's full on. It's busy. This is especially true when you're winning clients and working hard to deliver behind the scenes. For all those reasons, the balance of creating content and delivering what you've promised to clients is a hard one to maintain. Personally, I've found producing content daily impossible. It's a different energy, and it takes a while to get things set up. That's why we don't do it! We create a lot of our content in key filming days, where we get everything set up, plan our content, and film 4/5 videos in one day! It's effective. It's productive. And if you do it well, it means you can get back to work! In this video, come behind the scenes as we film a whopping five videos and five additional Reels in one day! We talk about: How to systemise your content creation to stay in front of your audience How to approach 'batch filming' so your content is effective Tools and set ups to consider, along with what kit to consider ⏱️ Timestamps 0:00 – Welcome & behind the scenes: prepping 5 videos in one day 0:52 – What a filming day really is 1:17 – Block it in your diary or it won't happen 1:49 – Setting up the next video & letting go of control 2:16 – Systemising to scale your business 3:03 – The honest truth about starting without fancy gear 3:49 – Hooks & first seven seconds: relax into the plan 4:58 – Planning content sets & next row of videos 5:13 – Tools, dependency & diversification 7:10 – Advice for anyone starting videos: cameras & mics 8:06 – Bulk filming = weeks of content, creating sets 📌 Key Takeaway: Consistency isn't about discipline. It's about designing your system. Batch filming, repeatable setups, and removing daily decision fatigue make posting content a natural part of scaling your business.

Google's Most Asked Questions About Business: Money, Selling & Mindset

"If it feels harder than it should… you're probably on the right track in the beginning." In this episode, let's tackle the questions business owners are typing into Google. From doing everything yourself, to charging your worth, burning out, fearing failure and feeling like an "imposter", let's look at what it really takes to make money in business - and why most people quit just before it starts working. 🎥 Watch the episode on YouTube What's Covered in This Episode (Timestamps) 00:00 – Why "doing everything yourself" is normal (at the start) 00:25 – The structure chart no one ever writes (but should) 01:10 – "I have too many ideas" and why creativity is both a gift and a curse 02:13 – Why starting new ideas keeps resetting your success 02:37 – Charging your worth: confidence vs competence 03:20 – Burnout: why it happens and how to stop it 04:25 – If your products aren't selling, it's a marketing problem 05:53 – Fear of failure and why business is only ever a hypothesis 07:22 – What Lisa actually teaches (no vegan recipes involved) 07:46 – Imposter syndrome doesn't exist (according to Lisa) 09:03 – What really stops people achieving their goals 09:47 – The biggest opportunity in business right now "I'm Doing Everything Myself" — Why That's Not Actually the Problem One of the most common frustrations business owners raise is: "The problem with my business is I'm doing everything myself." Lisa's response is refreshingly grounded. In the beginning, that's not a failure - it's reality. Before you can delegate, you need enough margin to: Pay yourself Pay the business Pay another human being That's the order. The mistake? Assuming you should already be outsourcing before the business can sustain it. Try this to inspire yourself:  Write a structure chart, showing: Who you'll hire in 12 months Who you'll hire in 2 years What their role is What their objectives are "Is something about that that makes it real," Lisa says. In the meantime: Use freelancers Hire VAs Use platforms like People Per Hour Leverage technology (schedulers, AI tools, content repurposing) But until you can afford to pay someone properly? "Do the work. Do the frickin' work." The Real Cost of "Too Many Ideas" Another Google favourite: "The problem with my business is I have too many ideas." Lisa doesn't see creativity as the enemy. In fact, she links it directly to entrepreneurship — particularly for neurodivergent founders. Creativity is the gift. Lack of completion is the curse. Here's the hard truth Lisa delivers: You cannot have all of these ideas and hope to be successful. There is a straight line between: A vision A project Delivery Repetition If you keep changing the course, the offer, the format, or the idea - you keep starting from zero. This is the teachable moment most people avoid: Every time you start a brand new idea, you reset your progress. Lisa explains that success comes from: Repeating the same course until it sells Using the same social media platform / format until it works Letting creativity sit within the project — not outside of it If you stop, start again, and never finish — you never build momentum. Charging Your Worth: Confidence or Competence? "I'm scared to charge my worth." Lisa's take is controversial — and necessary. If you can't fill your diary at your current price, raising your rates won't fix that. Instead: Fill your diary Build confidence Gain experience Collect testimonials Then raise your prices And here's the uncomfortable question Lisa asks: "Are you genuinely worth that amount?" If the answer is yes — then it's mindset work: Therapy Coaching Money beliefs Self-worth But if the answer is no? That's not mindset. That's competence or marketing. And those problems require different solutions. Burnout Isn't About Working Too Hard — It's About Reward Lisa is blunt about burnout: People don't burn out because they're working hard. They burn out because the reward doesn't match the work. Living at the edge of your ability for years without enough return will break you. Her solutions are practical, not glamorous: Slow down Extend timelines Get support Get a job if needed Sell a "bucket and spade" service you're already good at to get cash flowing again There is nothing wrong with stabilising yourself while you build. Burnout happens when: You can't recalibrate You can't remind yourself what it's worth You never get to breathe and refresh  If Your Products Aren't Selling, It's Marketing. Full Stop. That is the problem with everyone's business. If your products aren't selling, you don't understand marketing yet. Marketing starts with one question: Who is the customer that will give me money for this? Not: "My customers are broke" "My customers are burnt out" Because if they can't buy — they're not your customer. Then you ask: What are they really buying? What problem is this solving? Lisa explains that people don't buy "business coaching" — they buy: Confidence Direction Accountability Someone who sees their blind spots That's what gets marketed. And whatever your strategy is — networking, Instagram, YouTube — Lisa's rule is simple: Whatever you're doing, find a way to times it by ten. More conversations. More content. More repetition. That's how sales happen. "Imposter Syndrome" - what is this?  Lisa doesn't use the phrase imposter syndrome at all. Her word? Alien. When you do something you've never done before, of course you feel strange. That doesn't mean you're a fraud. Her reframe is powerful: You're not an imposter. You're rehearsing being a new version of yourself. To get a new result, you have to become a new person. If you can sit in that discomfort, you grow. If you can't, you retreat. But retreat isn't failure — it just means you try again. The Biggest Opportunity in Business Right Now It's not AI. It's not trends. It's not hacks. Lisa's answer is simple — and unpopular: Hard work. Specifically: Doing the work other people won't do. Learning the skills. Filming the videos. Showing up consistently. Doing the hard thing because it's hard. "If it's hard, very few people are going to do it." And that's where the opportunity lives. Final Thought;  Business is hard in the beginning.  It takes longer than you want. It requires discomfort most people avoid. But if you're willing to: Finish what you start Market relentlessly Sit in the unknown Do the work others won't You don't need luck. You need stamina. 🎥 Watch the full episode on YouTube And if you haven't already — subscribe. These questions are being unpacked in depth over the coming weeks. Because this is what it really takes to make actual money in business.

Answering Googles Most Asked Questions About Business, Sales, Money!

Let's have a bit of fun! Answering the most Googled questions! Including: Am I A Millionaire? Does Money Really Buy Happiness? & How YOU Can make money fast in 2026 and beyond!   In this brand new YouTube and podcast episode, UK Business Coach Lisa Bean sits down to answer Google's most searched questions about business, marketing, sales, and success. Expect honesty, straight lines, and zero fluff: why money can buy happiness (but only if you know your number), why you don't need money to start (you need time and grit), and why a tiny audience can still power a multiple six-figure business when you tell the truth and have an opinion. Lisa also reframes "original ideas" ("you don't need one — you need a point of view"), explains who shouldn't start a business (and who absolutely must), and shares the quickest way to make money now: finish the product, put up the sales page, run the webinar, ask for the sale. If you've ever wondered how to make money without a big audience, what stops entrepreneurs from reaching their goals, or why business coaching costs what it does — this episode is your roadmap to the truth behind the buzzwords in business and online sales! â±ï¸ Timestamps & What You'll Learn 00:00 – 00:09 | What this episode covers Answering the internet's most-googled questions about Lisa, business, marketing, and sales. 00:09 – 00:25 | Is Lisa a speaker? "Yes — it's my dream to stand in front of thousands and change lives." (Something exciting is coming) 00:25 – 01:05 | Is Lisa an author? First Sh!t Version took ten years; Am I Healing? is in progress. Purpose, change, and making a living doing what you love. 01:05 – 01:24 | SEO & ranking #1 for "business coach" (UK) "I'm the queen of SEO. Also: Lisa's real fear (medical procedures) and a nod to past serious illness — radical honesty included. 02:00 – 02:36 | Does money buy happiness? Yes — up to your number. Clients say "enough to be happy" or "retire my partner." Lisa: What's the number? Clarity creates momentum. 02:36 – 03:34 | Too late to start? No. Many successful founders start in their 40s. One purposeful day at 60 can change your reality. 03:34 – 04:27 | Do you need money to start? No. Lisa started with £3k (gone in a month), then with nothing, then £100k in debt. You need time and work ethic. Use free trials, your phone, and go meet people. 04:27 – 05:22 | Do ideas need to be original? No. You need an opinion. If you're purely transactional, you're replaceable. Market your nuance and prove it with clients. 05:22 – 06:08 | Is business for everyone? No. If you're here for "work-life balance," don't do it. Early years = more hours than you're paid for. You build a business because not doing it feels terrible. 06:08 – 06:47 | Making money without a big audience You can't make money without any audience — but it doesn't need to be big. Lisa's multiple six-figure education business runs with 2k IG followers and less than 2k on the list. Key: content + opinion + truth. 07:06 – 07:25 | Digital products Fastest path to cash is 1:1. Build the product after results. Prove outcomes upfront. 07:25 – 08:07 | Make money fast (2026 mindset, applied now) Finish the product. Is the sales page live? Run a webinar. Add value. Ask for the sale. Stop "selling without selling." 08:07 – 08:52 | Make money when you have none If you're frozen by fear: get a job/freelance to cover basics. Then: finish one product, sell 1:1, network, build content, ask for the sale (webinars, masterclasses, discovery calls). #businesssuccess #mostaskedquestions #businesscoach

You must build competency to make more money in business

Competence is the result you get when you something hard, over and over, until (a) you learn how to get the hard result; and / or, (b) it becomes part of who you are. Competence isn't an empty sales promise. It's an unshakable skill no-one can take from you and people want to buy from you! Here's the truth: No one's coming to your door to stop you making sales. No one's blocking your progress. Business rewards the entrepreneur who build this kind of competence by pushing themselves beyond what they know to be comfortable, by taking a risk, by practicing a new skill until they own it. In this live talk, I share the raw, funny, and (often!) humbling stories that taught me the true meaning of competence, which became the foundation of every business I went on to build. 💡 In this episode, you'll learn: What competence really means, and how you can become unshakable no matter what happens. The difference between knowledge and wisdom: How true thought leadership is born from lived experience, not theory. The role of repetition in mastery: The hidden power of showing up weekly, refining your craft, and building real evidence of skill. Why social media has sold you a lie: The myth of "easy business" and what it actually takes to build success from scratch. How to turn experience into leadership: Using your journey, insights, and failures to create value and impact in your industry. 🧠 Key insights from the episode: "Competence comes from practising a skill that is difficult and getting so good at it that it doesn't matter what happens — you're still competent." "You're not an entrepreneur until you're on the journey of developing competence." "When you've lived it, you can speak the truth. That's what people feel – that's wisdom." "Business isn't easy. You're making up an idea and trying to convince people to buy it. That's the hardest and most beautiful thing in the world." 🎧 Watch next: 👉 Do THIS to turn on marketing in your business 👉 The brutal truth about building a business you need to hear 👉 How to stop playing small and play big! 💌 Join the weekly mailing list: https://lisa-bean.com/mailing-list/ 📘 Work with me inside Straight Line Through 📸 Follow on Instagram: @lisabeanuk

[Live talk] To Make Sales, COMMIT to Your Marketing

You're not struggling with sales - you're struggling to have an impact at a big enough scale to make sales. In this week's video, I'm breaking down what's really going on when you're not making enough money in your business — and how to fix it. This is not another "sales hack" video. It's about learning to have a real impact on people, before they ever pay you. That's marketing! If people can feel the impact you can have on them i.e if you've already helped them see themselves differently, think differently, or take new action, then you'll won't have to convince them to buy. They'll already know there's value in what you do and they'll want to find out more. In this episode we cover: The two real reasons you're not making sales (and they've got nothing to do with your offer). Why impact at scale is the real metric you should be tracking — not just reach or clicks. What it actually means to "change someone's life before they pay you." How to build trust by delivering real transformation through your free content. The role of YouTube, Instagram, and events in scaling your impact. Why your marketing content must have soul — and how audiences instantly know when it doesn't. How to collect real feedback ("data") by testing your ideas live — not hiding behind PDFs and webinars. The truth about YouTube growth: what I learned when my editor Chris showed me the data (spoiler: 60% of my views come from people who've never seen me before). Why repeating your key stories matters more than inventing new ones every week. Quote moments from this episode: "If you can change someone's life before they pay you, you'll never have to sell." "We can feel when content has no soul — that's why AI-written posts fall flat." "Your hook isn't something invent. It's just the content people react best to." - Lisa Bean is a UK-based online business coach and mentor, teaching purpose-driven entrepreneurs how to build and scale their businesses (properly). Don't cheat, just market (like this!)

If you were to ask me how to make more sales in your business I'd say: stop trying to cheat the process and just market better. Marketing is the simple act of adding value to someone's life before you ask them for anything in return. Examples of marketing done well: You're a guest on a podcast of someone your future clients listen to. You're talking about your journey, you're sharing your wisdom, you're helping people believe they can do it to. You write a LinkedIn post sharing the 3 biggest mistakes people make when approaching [your industry/topic], and you explain how to avoid them. You run a live networking working and walk through a key process you teach to your clients. You make a YouTube video explaining the best way to solve a problem your clients have, and break it down step by step. On your sales page, you explain why you've set up your offer in that way, rather than just list the features. You write a blog post walking through the reasoning behind a trend or decision in your industry, helping your audience feel informed. You go live on social media and answer the top three questions you get asked most often, but you actually share useful insights.   The mistake most people make in marketing: The mistake most people make in marketing is that they focus on the hooks, gimmicks and 'promise' of the offer. It is important to know what the one big promise of your offer is, but you will find it so much easier to sell if you spend time explaining or showing how your approach will help you to deliver on that promise. For example, I could say: "When you join Straight Line Through, you get access to weekly calls", or I could say: "Each Wednesday in Straight Line Through I go live at 12pm. Often I lead with a live teach on a core topic around sales, marketing, and mindset, but there is always room for your questions. You could bring me your sales page for review. You could think out loud about a problem you're struggling with. You could get advice on how to market your new offer. The purpose of these calls is to give you somewhere practical and inspiring to go each month, to make sure you have somewhere to get your questions answered, and to introduce you to other entrepreneurs in our community." Which of those two is more compelling and more likely to lead to a sale? The same is true of marketing in general. You could talk about the big six figure year, or talk broadly about how you turned your luck around in business, or you could try to articulate the process you mastered, or the five biggest things you've learn on your journey, or how you overcame the biggest obstacle in your sector. People are looking for mentors, coaches, guides, leaders all the time. The difference between the ones that sell and the ones that don't is that good leaders show people how they can get there too. That's all marketing is, done well, and compounded over time. Seth Godin's Approach to Marketing in 'This is Marketing' Seth Godin's book This is Marketing had a profound impact on me as a marketer because he put into words something I knew intrinsically to be true: marketing isn't about shouting the loudest or tricking people into a funnel. It's about earning trust over time through consistency, generosity, and empathy. That means: Consistency: showing up over and over again so people know they can rely on you. Generosity: giving away your best ideas and insights, not holding back until someone pays. Empathy: taking the time to really understand the fears, hopes, and struggles of the people you want to serve. This isn't fast. It isn't flashy. And it won't give you overnight results. But what it does give you is longevity in your market. It builds a loyal audience who actually want to hear from you, who share your work, who want to consume all your content, and who eventually buy with confidence – because you've already proven, over and over again, that you can help them. That's the essence of good marketing. Not hooks. Not gimmicks. Not tricks. Service. That's what we explore in this week's episode.

Human vs AI: Why Being Real Will Be Your Superpower in 2026

In 18 months, you won't know if that image, video or news clip is real or AI so be smart: start finding ways to show your clients just how real you are, and you'll win more business. ↓     Before we came to Italy, I showed Lucy's daughter a photo of Lake Como. She said "No, that's AI", and I laughed. "Wait till you see it in real life", I said, "and then you'll know - that's real." I think it's happening already... We're doubting that content is real. Whilst this was once limited to photos and maybe some dramatically staged social media clips, it's now extending through to full videos, AI generated courses, entire scenes fabricated by code. We used to say 'that's fake'. Now we say 'that's AI'. The remedy is simple. We need to start mixing in more 'proof of life' content into our marketing mix: content that shows we are undeniably real, we are human. In this week's episode - Human vs AI: Why Being Real Will Be Your Superpower in 2026 - I discuss this concept and show you the three types of content I'm running at the moment to find balance between showing I'm real, positioning myself as a leader in the field, and making sure the efforts are scalable for growth. This is an interesting watch, one that will change the way you think about content in the coming months and help you realise just how important 'proof of life' content really is. P.s. I've added a list of ten proof of life content ideas to the write up of this video. You can read them + watch the video here: 10 examples of 'proof of life' content >>

How to Show up in ChatGPT:4 Smart Ways to Get Found in AI Search

Most people are still writing SEO optimised content for Google… but the way we search is changing. Five key take aways for ranking in ChatGPT: ➔ AI responds to real prompts, rather than vague keywords and search terms. Think about full questions your clients would be asking ChatGPT and write questions to answer those more human prompts. ➔ Consistency builds authority — ChatGPT "reads" your homepage, bios, blogs, and news stories. Say the same thing across all of them to help create a consistent narrative about your business. ➔ Structure matters — Use clear H2s and H3s with long-tail search phrases like "how to attract clients through Instagram", rather than e.g. "Key points". (Look at the title of this section as an example!) ➔ Transcripts and show notes boost discoverability — AI can't watch your video, but it can read everything around it. Use show notes to 'tell' ChatGPT what's in your video and use it as a chance to create content that ChatGPT could return in answers. ➔ You can check your rankings — Tools like SEMrush now show where you appear in ChatGPT results. This is real-time visibility. If you want to build a business through inbound discovery – watch this video on how to show up in Chat GPT. This approach says goodbye to chasing down followers and hello to creating content for the people searching for you right now. In this new episode, I break down: Why ChatGPT is changing search behaviour The difference between Google vs ChatGPT prompts How to appear in ChatGPT responses for your ideal search terms The surprising way one client found me via ChatGPT Why your homepage, blog and video titles matter more than ever A simple system I use to write searchable show notes How SEMrush now tracks ChatGPT keyword rankings How to turn Instagram posts into SEO-ready blog content   To learn more about this, read the latest post I made about ranking in ChatGPT: https://lisa-bean.com/business/marketing/showup-in-chat-gpt/

How to stop playing small - three practical strategies (that work!)

"Stop playing small" is terrible advice because no-one really knows what it means to play big, or how to approach it! When people talk about playing small, they usually mention things like: Not charging their worth Self-sabotaging Avoiding key projects and actions Not being visible Not going for their dreams!   Does that mean that playing big is the opposite of this: Charging your worth Letting yourself have the win! Tackling key projects and taking difficult actions Being visible and building your brand Going for your dreams!   Probably! But, I think we can go further. In today's episode, I'm going to break down the psychology of playing small and offer a very specific approach for showing up differently. 1. Grit vs. Campaign Thinking: The Danger of Living in Crisis Mode We often celebrate "grit" – the ability to push through, keep going, get it done. Angela Duckworth even made it famous in her work on success, showing that grit (passion + perseverance) is a better predictor of long-term achievement than IQ or talent. But grit without vision is just survival. If you wake up every day thinking, "What's broken? What needs fixing?" – that's reactivity, not strategy. It's a common pattern I see in entrepreneurs: Hustling for last-minute sales. Overbooking and over-delivering. Staying up late to make ends meet. That's not bad – sometimes it's necessary. But if you live there for too long, you'll build a business around firefighting, not future-building. The Science:  This is partly driven by your brain's amygdala — the centre for fear and threat detection. When we're uncertain or under pressure, it activates your fight-or-flight response. That's when you default to solving immediate problems instead of building long-term solutions. But playing big requires prefrontal cortex thinking – the part of your brain responsible for planning, reasoning, and imagining the future. It's not activated when you're constantly stressed. The Shift: Playing big means stepping back to ask: "Where am I going? And what do I need to build this quarter, this year, to get there?" That's campaign thinking. That's strategy. Grit might get you out of a hole, but campaign thinking builds your true vision.   2. Passive vs. Directive Thinking: Who's Really in Charge? One of the hardest ways we play small is by letting our emotions and beliefs steer our decisions. You know it's happening when you say things like: "I just wasn't in the right headspace today." "I've always struggled with that." "I just didn't feel like it." As someone who's been prone to depressive episodes most of my life, I know what it's like to feel low, unmotivated, even hopeless. But I also know this: You are not your thoughts. You are not your feelings. You are the person who notices them – and chooses what to do next. The Science: In cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), there's a powerful concept called cognitive distancing – the ability to observe your thoughts without attaching to them as truth. This is a cornerstone of emotional regulation and personal change. Instead of "I am overwhelmed," you say, "I'm experiencing overwhelm." That tiny shift gives you space to choose a different response. The Shift: A passive thinker lets the day happen to them. A directive thinker observes what's happening – then acts anyway. They don't wait to feel motivated. They create motivation using little tricks like going on a walk, promising yourself a reward in exchange for the work, creating a lovely environment to work just so you can get started. Sometimes that means waking up at 5am to do the hard thing first. Sometimes it means scheduling joy, like a movie or coffee out, just to trigger some dopamine and keep going. Motivating yourself to do the hard job is a skill. And it is a skill that can be learned.   3. Tasks vs. Projects: Are You Creating or Just Completing? Let me ask you this: If I opened your calendar for next week… Would I see tasks? Or would I see projects? Would I see time blocked out for: Writing your book Filming your course Preparing your TEDx talk Building your funnel Practising your speaking Or would I see: Meetings Admin Zooms booked in by other people "Reply to emails" "Post something on Instagram" The former moves your life forward. The latter keeps it ticking over. The Psychology:  This is the difference between being busy and being effective. Our brains are wired to love "completion" – every time we tick off a to-do item, we get a dopamine hit. That's why it feels good to stay in action mode. But it's short-lived. Creative, meaningful work – the kind that actually grows your business – is messy. It's nonlinear. You don't get a hit every 15 minutes. You sit in discomfort. You wrestle. And you often feel like you're failing right before you break through. The Shift:  Playing big means prioritising outcomes over checklists. Not "What do I need to get done today?" But: "What am I building this month? And have I protected the time to do it properly?" Final Thought: Playing big isn't louder. It isn't shinier. It's not about showing off. It's about being honest with yourself: Are you building what you really want? Are you leading your own thoughts? Are you creating space for the work that matters? Playing big requires discipline. Not in the punishing, productivity-obsessed way – but in the "this is who I'm becoming" kind of way. It's showing up when it's hard. Doing the work you don't yet feel ready for. And backing your dreams with action – not just ideas. So if you've been stuck in the busyness, the feelings, or the inbox… This is your reminder to come back to your power. What does your version of playing big look like? And what are you going to do about it this week?

    Marketing = impact

I wish I could convey this one thing about marketing. MARKETING = IMPACT MARKETING = IMPACT MARKETING = IMPACT Posting isn't marketing if it doesn't open someone's thinking, influence a new behaviour, or challenge an old behaviour. Marketing is marketing when it has an impact on someone's life, and you become associated with that impact.  If we can get someone's attention, get them to pay attention to us, and share something that truly changes their life, then we're marketing. For this reason, simply posting isn't marketing. Marketing is more about building a connection between your brand and value that your clients want.   Examples of things clients might say about your content are: "I follow them because they inspire me" "I follow them because they tell the truth about [XXX]" "I follow them because they're funny and help me tune out of my life" "I follow them because they share technical details on how to [XXX}" "I follow them because they're helping me to face the truth about how I [XXX]"   When you think about your marketing, what do you want clients to say about you; why do they follow you; what do you give them? Put another way, we can ask about the impact we're having on someone's life. I think when someone comes across your content for the first time, they don't actually want to follow you. They're following too many people already. To get the follow, you've got to share something novel, new, insightful, truly helpful. When I challenge people on their marketing, I often ask them if they're posting what it really takes or a more palatable version. Are they really running the steps they're sharing in their own lives, or are they doing something different? In my marketing, I've always told the truth about how hard business is, about how much time it takes to build a brand, about the steps required up front to make sales. There was a fear for me that the process was too hard for people and they'd not do it, so not follow me. But honestly, I couldn't see another way? I had to tell people the truth because I had to get them turned on to the real work as quickly as possible. I therefore focused on a mix of 'how to' marketing content and the mindset work needed to do that difficult work in the first place. As you watch (or listen to) today's episode, I want you to consider seven key questions: What is the real problem I solve - not just the surface symptom, but the deeper challenge they're facing? What does it truly take to solve this problem - and what honest content can I make around this? What questions are my high calibre clients searching out and how can I make content to answer those questions? How can I 'show' more of my expertise, rather than just talk about it? What's the emotional shift you want your content to create in someone - from stuck to hopeful, from confused to clear, from overwhelmed to decisive? What's one truth you've been holding back from sharing because you're afraid it's too much — and what would happen if you shared it anyway? If someone binge-watched your last 10 pieces of content, what would they say your brand stands for? If you enjoy this episode, don't forget to hit like and subscribe for more.

The honest truth about fear in business

I felt sick the day after I offered Chris, my new videographer, a role. You might be surprised to read this today and worried that Chris might find out. Don't worry - he knows! I told him and we filmed a video about it. The feelings surprised me. I've hired before. I've had teams before. I've made leaps before. But this time it felt different. I felt resourced. I felt certain. I felt ready. So why the anxiety? Anxiety often arises when our brain's fear circuitry - particularly the amygdala - triggers a stress response that doesn't quite match the situation. It was useful from an evolutionary standpoint, helping humans to anticipate danger. But now, it can misfire, leading to things like catastrophising a situation (I'm going to go bankrupt!), focusing on the threat and not the reality (all my sales with dry up), feelings of being 'beyond our comfort zone' (I'm not ready for this, it's too much!). Do any of those sound familiar? Other, more subtle ones include: I'm not good enough / cut out to do this Someone is going to find me out I'm not doing enough! Something bad is about to happen Other people seem to find this easier! I need to learn one more thing, then I'll be ready I recognise all of those. In fact, I'll let you in on a secret. I started my masters in Psychology because I wanted to know what made a great entrepreneur. I didn't know if I had what it took to 'make it', to go all the way. I wanted to find the perfect formula for entrepreneurship and model it. Ha. I'll tell you how that goes. For now, I'll just keep showing up shall I? The hard thing about entrepreneurship is that we have to live in this zone of discomfort to grow. We're constantly in the leap between safe havens. And just when we've mastered one thing, we have to master another, and another. This constant cycle of growth is very taxing on our nervous systems, on the very human part of ourselves, and this tax shows up as fear, anxiety, burnout, exhaustion, procrastination. If we put it off, we can't fail right? We sit with the pain of avoidance, just to save ourselves from the pain of change. For this reason, being successful as an entrepreneur isn't really about the leap itself. It's actually about the gap in between one version of ourselves and the next. It's about how we resource ourselves in that gap. It's about how we react to the feelings of discomfort, which only show up in the gap. It's about how we choose to act as we land on the other side of the gap. I find that when I make 'the leap', I want to stay the same. I want to have the same feelings, the same comforts, the same thoughts. I want to prioritise the same things, do the same activities, continue with the same behaviours. But I can't. The net sum of those things is the person on the other side of the gap. To continue is to go back. To change is to stick the landing. And this is what we're exploring in today's episode. Ready to dive in? If you're in the middle of a leap - or find yourself avoiding one - this episode will help you to see where you are in the process, discover what it's going to take to stick the landing, and focus on the person you need to become, not the fear holding you back! - 🔗 Want to go deeper? ideas on how to make sales in your online business (inspiring + practical)

If you hired a sales person and found out they were doing what you're doing now to sell, how happy would you be?! For a lot of people, the true answer is NOT VERY. We'd want a sales person: Reaching out to new prospective buyers Pitching weekly or daily either face to face, at events or on webinars Using content to build a brand / reach new audiences and retarget them with offers Building a database and following up Networking at least twice a week… RIGHT? But most business owners aren't doing that. Nope - they're posting on social media, working on a sales page, networking when they can but not really following up. When you put it starkly like that, you can see the void…and the opportunity! In this week's video, we're going to have a chat about making sales in your business, looking specifically at: - What your product needs in order to be attractive (and useful!) to buyers - How to stand out by innovating in your marketing - Why content makes selling easier, and what content to make to help! - The one big feeling a buyer has before they buy from you - What every step of the journey needs in order to help you make more sales and win more clients in your business - The true difference between a warm and cold lead…and how to warm up a cold lead nicely - Do lead magnets work, or rather: Why lead magnets work and how to maximise them. As ever, this is not a prescriptive list of things to do. It's more of a discussion about the premise of selling and the core concepts of winning new customers in your business. How to overcome self-doubt and "Who am I to do this"

"Who am I to do this?" is one of the most common forms of self-doubt we hear, often translated into: Who am I to do this? In today's episode we're going to get into the detail of this self-doubt and imposter syndrome, and look at very practical ways you can overcome the feeling of 'who am I to do this'?  We'll look at: - How normal imposter syndrome is and how successful people confront the doubt when it arises. - How to support yourself through 'self-coaching' and 'self-soothing', with some practical ideas for inspiring yourself back to meaningful action. - How to spot and shift negative thoughts to change your whole focal point and vibration. You're allowed to have negative thoughts! Just don't make them the focus of your vibration. - The importance of community, and surrounding yourself with positive people trying to grow. - How to craft a positive narrative around who you are, what you're doing and who you're becoming. - And how to change who you 'are' by changing your environment. In this episode, you're going to become really intentional about your energy, your identity and how you respond to doubt and imposter syndrome. The Vibrational Glow Up: How to Align Your Energy for Massive Growth

Change is a physical act. Once you catch a glimpse of the person you want to become and the life you want to live, there are key steps you can take to expand that feeling, take meaningful action, and hold the intention until your new reality unfolds in front of you. In today's video, I'm breaking down the 3-5 essential actions you can take to step into the next level of your life and business. - In today's episode, I'm going to walk you through what it takes to truly change your life, break old patterns, and rise to a whole new level of success and impact. We're covering:  0:00 - Intro: Change is a Physical Act Change begins with seeing who you want to become and then physically taking action to make that vision a reality. It's not just about mindset shifts—it's about real-world steps that will push you into alignment with your desired life. 1:01 - The Commitment: Moving from Six Figures to Seven I committed to shifting from running a six-figure business to a seven-figure one. In this section, I talk about how I realised the limitations of focusing on "six figures" and the mindset change that came with wanting more. Changing your identity and vibration is the first step to changing your life. 2:55 - Life Mirrors You: What's Showing Up for You? Your outer world is a direct reflection of your inner state. If you're not happy with what's happening around you, look inside. I explain how your bank account, relationships, health, and energy levels give you honest feedback about where you're at in your journey. 3:50 - Manifestation and Vibrational Alignment: Be the Result First You can't wait for the results to show up before you start acting like the person who already has them. In this section, I dive into how to get into vibrational alignment with your goals and why you need to embody the energy of your desired outcome before it arrives. 5:21 - Interpreting Life Differently: Two People, Same Event Two people can experience the same situation and interpret it completely differently based on their vibration. I share a story about a busy week where I chose to embrace an exciting speaking opportunity instead of feeling overwhelmed—highlighting how your attitude can shift everything. 6:10 - The Glow Up: What My Transformation Looked Like Six to eight weeks ago, I committed to becoming the person who runs a seven-figure business. I break down what this glow-up looked like in action—from shifting my mindset to overhauling my habits and how I carry myself. Your glow-up is waiting for you, but it requires dedication and consistency. 8:03 - Strategy Session: Using ChatGPT to Plan My Business Model When I wanted to figure out how to scale my business to seven figures, I literally took out my laptop, opened ChatGPT, and mapped out a plan. This is one of the key strategies I used to see the path forward and break down seemingly impossible goals into actionable steps. 12:18 - Expanding Capacity: Taking on Bigger Projects In order to level up, I had to expand my capacity to handle more—more clients, more events, more opportunities. I share how I'm ramping up my events, networking, and speaking engagements, and why capacity is critical to scaling your business and achieving bigger goals. 14:45 - Shifting Vibration: Creating Opportunities Through Action When you operate at a higher vibration, new opportunities flow in. From big networking events to new business deals, I explain how staying in that high-frequency state allows you to magnetize better and bigger opportunities. 18:29 - Turning Vision Into Action: It's About Projects, Not Dreams It's not enough to have a vision—you need to turn that vision into concrete projects. I discuss how making real progress in your business and life requires taking responsibility and setting up systems and actions that align with your goals. 22:40 - Grounding Yourself in Action: Focus on What You Did Do Instead of focusing on what didn't go right, I ground myself in the actions I did take. I share how reflecting on my wins and consistent actions helps me stay aligned with my bigger vision. This shift from focusing on lack to focusing on action is key to staying in a high vibration. 28:35 - Three Key Responsibility Scales: Vision, Vibration, Healing To see real change, you need to take responsibility for three things: your vision (turning it into action), your vibration (keeping it high and aligned), and your healing (letting go of blocks that are holding you back). I introduce the concept of "responsibility scales" to help you assess where you are and where you need to grow. 37:18 - Visualisation Exercise: Scaling Up Your Life and Business I guide you through a powerful visualisation exercise to help you see what your life looks like at different levels—5/10, 7/10, and 9/10. This is a game-changing practice that will allow you to get clear on what you need to shift to reach your next level.

THIS approach is how I've stayed in business for 15+ years

"We don't want your sales page promise, we want to follow a true 'person of substance.'" Is it fair to say the illusion of social media is over in the sense that we don't want another well-hooked promise... we want insight, we want inspiration, we want connection? More than any big sales page offer, testimonial proof or clever marketing hook, don't we want to feel like we're on the journey with someone we can trust, that we're following someone who shares genuine insights that can help us move forward, like there's somewhere we can go to get back on track when we feel lost or uninspired? We don't want the sales page promise, we want to follow a person of substance right? Someone we can trust. Someone who shares true insights from the journey and the market. Someone we can even lean on in tough times. Being this person of substance is what I'm talking about in today's episode, along with two other vital strategies for building community, audience and business in 2025. everyone said 'sales are down' and I had one of my best months yet!

I've just come back from a massive summer of selling, and it was helped by two things:   (1) I got married and took a week off, so I had to do more in less time to be fully present at my wedding; and,   (2) everyone was reporting 'sales are down, sales are down' but people were looking to me for how to make sales.   It's a topic no one wants to get into publicly but behind the scenes, soooo many of my client calls are about turning on sales in online businesses.   So, I didn't even really have the answer. I mean, I did - I know how to sell and what it takes but it felt like this summer, something else was needed...something a little more extra haha.   I reminded myself of two laws that have always served me:   (1) I never got more by doing less - so do more Lisa: explosive action, explosive energy, explosive service; and,   (2) If I put myself out there fully - in heart and spirit and honesty - I would be supported and good things would happen: so turn up and serve Lisa. Go be useful to future clients!   So, I cranked up the content. But, because I didn't have time to get all my gear out, film, edit and produce, I just filmed stuff live and then reposted that content.   I uploaded an Instagram live, called 'how to make sales over summer' (you might have seen it as '100 sales attempts'), to YouTube and to Facebook and my podcast and my site and then emailed it to everyone too.   Then I got clever and spent £100 on ads boosting it to strangers who are most like my current audience and it reached another 60,000 people.   That was pretty cool.   I sent mailers off the cuff, which I typed on my phone...at the gym or on a dog walk.   I made more content for social, scheduled it and sent it. But it wasn't all Reels for reach. It was stuff I knew my small, current community would see and like. A lot of it came from membership content, insights from client calls and clips from the live I did.   I said yes to speaking at a rather large summer summit (shout out to Jacky who turned up BIG over summer!), even though I really didn't have the time lol. And I announced a new webinar called 'Mentor Vibes', which I made the slides for the day before (because it was literally all so new!) and filmed it live with everyone on the call.   I also finished my '£99 marketing to sell' course, which gave me the perfect 'attraction event' to rave about, so went nuts on telling people about that too haha.   Sales exploded!!!   I sold my £7 guide and my £99 micro course on marketing and won new clients for my £900 hyper focused coaching offer and Straight Line Through (£996) and I've got so many people interested in cohort 2 of SLT. It's madness. But equally it's not! Because…   💡 If you show up more, with more value, to more people, of course you create more opportunity.   💡 If you run webinars on novel things that are working for you and turn up generously with real knowledge, tactics and energy, of course more people lean into you.   💡 If you say yes and figure it out on the go, of course you'll fit it in and honour your promises.   💡 If you trust the magic and purpose within you and open the gates and let it out, of course you'll be of service and magic will take hold of you and the whole situation.   But, I have to say, there was something that made all the difference. Like, it all mashed together to give me the win but when I think about what really made the difference, it's this:   Authentic vibes: reach: depth: offer.   I showed up as myself and I went a bit mad. I let my full self out to play. Not everyone wanted that energy but those who did welcomed it fully. They wanted it and they needed it. (That's the authentic vibes bit.)   I used free and paid content to get reach. Getting into other people's fabulous networks was a win too!   Long format, long format, long format. This is the depth bit! Make a live and share it, run a webinar and teach, give people real strategy, real insights, real guidance. Go deep and truly create transformation up front.   Pitch!!! (The offer bit.) I did that webinar and sold my heart out at the end, but in succchh a chill way. I sold my stuff for the people who wanted to work with me and went into the details, but said to those who didn't "that's the end of the content if you don't want to hear the pitch". Or something like that. And I sold it.   All this to say…   You don't get more from doing less. At this stage, for most business owners, it is explosive action, explosive energy, explosive service that will give you the explosive result.   So what's your next move?   Useful links:   Free 60 minute webinar on how to use this approach, instant access: https://lisa-bean.com/mentor-vibes-webinar/   £7 guide - answer these questions before you engage a coach to make more sales in your business, or you'll waste your coaching spend. https://lisa-bean.com/paid-to-serve/   £99 micro course - THE 6 core things you must know to turn on sales in your online business: https://lisa-bean.com/online-marketing-course/   #businesscoach

How to balance masculine and feminine energy to bring your art to the world

Masculine energy creates the safety and carves out the time our feminine energy needs in order to breathe into our art. When people aren't making progress in their business, we can say they're stuck and don't know what to try next, they're overwhelmed by all the jobs on their list, they have a subconscious block that's causing them to self-sabotage, they're exhausted from all the effort (burnt out) or the classic: I just don't have time. This can all be true. But you know what else might be true? They might be excellent at feminine flow and terrible at masculine container. Or the other way around. The feminine flow is the unfolding of the work, the flow. It's you being you. It's you enjoying being alive. It's the intuition on what to do. It's the very act of creating in pure joy. For me, it's the silence of the day. The masculine container is the goal, the allocated time, the deadline and the security. It says: "You're safe, go ahead". For me, it's time in my diary, allocated to work on something I care about. When you realise both are needed to be successful you can start to look at what you're good at and where you need to put a little more focus. For example, setting the alarm and getting up with purpose is your masculine energy. Enjoying a slow breakfast, walking the dog in peace (listening to the birds and enjoying nature), then sitting down to create without pressure is your feminine energy. Likewise, making a to do list is masculine energy. Journalling to clear your thoughts is feminine energy. Putting allocated time in your diary is masculine energy. Enjoying your spontaneity in that time is your feminine energy. If you're overwhelmed by all the things on your list, you never have time to create your art or or you're afraid you won't make it through the month, you need to learn how to master your masculine energy to give yourself security, to provide focus, to ring fence time for your important art. If you're lost in mindless tasks, your nervous system feels totally overstimulated, you feel angry and irritable and burnt out by the end of the day, you need to learn how to give room to your feminine energy to offload the deadlines, to sit in your own energy and to make time for you, to make your art, to soak up the healing vibes of nature. This is the topic of today's episode. It's actually taken from last month's membership content on how to balance masculine and feminine energies to bring your work to the world. Watching this, you will understand how masculine and feminine energy combine to help you bring your art to the world, you'll get original new ideas for experiencing both energies and you'll have also get a chance to see what this Be The Person membership is all about. I really hope you enjoy today's episode. If you do, drop me a little message to let me know. How to make your purpose driven work

From the messy start to the polished commercial finish, all art must be created and then curated in order to be seen and appreciated. And we want our art to be seen don't we? We want our videos to be watched and our books to be read. Therefore, as purpose-driven creators, entrepreneurs and artists we must separate the ideas of the messy artful start and the commercial polished finish. In the beginning just write, make, create, share. As the idea develops and you start to give it shape, consider who might appreciate this and how you can package it up and position it to HELP THEM FIND IT. That's all this is - it's playing the game to help someone find you and your work so that it can move them, help them, inspire them. Messy start then commercial finish.   Useful links:  If you'd like to join the waiting list for the book and follow this journey, you can find the details here: https://lisa-bean.com/books/am-i-healing/   Connect with me:  Check out my website Connect with me on Instagram

#25 Don't 'yearn', do THIS to produce results (surprising)

You know, the memory of who you 'are' is so much more powerful than the identity of the person you're trying to become simply because it has more evidence and has been 'true' for longer. In trying to change your life and get a new result in your business, you have to let go of the memory of who you thought you were and allow yourself to consider a new identity and narrative...every single day. Look around you right now... The room you're in is telling you who you are. The worries / dreams you woke up with are telling you who you are. The clothes you're wearing today are telling you who you are. Even the emails you receive are telling you who you are. They all support a narrative. And you believe that narrative so much, you act it out and act within its framework every day. Even if you have a vision board, or list out your goals or are going to the gym to hype yourself up, underneath all of this, two things remain true: (1) You must fill the void your yearning created in order to get the result - we do this by looking for ways to feel good and taking creative action; and, (2) You must remove the narrative that is sabotaging your result on loop, without needing the poor result to flip the script! Oh my! In today's episode, I want to do something a little bit different. I want to explain to you what I know about the three levels of manifestation, one of them being 'grit work', I want to show you how to measure the strength of your intention by the actions you're taking, and I want you to get honest about your next move. Look, for a long time I've found it hard to balance the narratives of manifestation and hard work. I don't like it when someone focuses exclusively on one end of the spectrum when they both have a place. The key, it turns out, isn't in how they're different, but in how they're the same. If you wake up with positive expectation that good things are coming your way and use your own unique edge to actually create something magical in the world, you're well on your way. The only things left to do are to fill any void of yearning and remove the block that sabotages the result when it comes and you're there. I want to formalise this process for you today and help you find more reasons to believe in your vision and take bolder, truer action towards it. Manifestation and work come hand in hand. They're friends, not enemies. So, press play to: Learn about the three levels of 'manifestation' the books forgot to tell us. See where your subconscious intentions are in conflict with your conscious intentions and bring things in balance. Break your vision down into 'levels' to really see what it will take to make it happen. Get a gritty, honest and somehow magical boost to keep going on your journey of transformation. I really hope you enjoy today's episode and it unlocks something for you that helps you go bigger in your efforts and energies today. A coach CANNOT hold you responsible. So do this instead...

Look truth be told, a coach CANNOT hold you responsible to get important things done in your life and business. If you really want to achieve an outcome that matters to you, there are four things I would do: (1) List your project in order of importance. (2) Create 'containers' that make you produce key outcomes because people are expecting them / paying you for them. (3) Create deadlines you cannot wiggle out of. (4) Use a coach to run through your work, get important feedback and pick their brains on how to make it better. Press play for a quick spot of inspiration on how to be more productive, hold yourself accountable and move your life and business forward.   Useful links:  If you'd like to join the waiting list for the book and follow this journey, you can find the details here: https://lisa-bean.com/books/am-i-healing/   Connect with me:  Check out my website Connect with me on Instagram

Don't change your life: Heal the subconscious pattern (What debt taught me about healing)

There comes a point in your journey that you can no longer push through the pain to change your life and grow your business. Instead, you must sit in the discomfort of your pain and heal the subconscious pattern you're repeating. Changing at this subconscious level of patterning will lead to new thoughts, new behaviours and new results in your life and your business. But, it's not easy work! At the first level, you need to spot the pattern. Then accept responsibility for changing the pattern. The stop the pattern when it loops again. In today's shorter episode, I'm going to show you how getting into debt three times taught me how to heal using this approach, rather than hustle my way through my pain. #24 Under £25k in online sales - listen to this!

This is the truth of how I went from zero to £100,000 in online sales in my online coaching business. Look, I know you're trying and I know you think it should be working right now. You took the leap to build your online business, you've made sales here and there but it feels too hard and you're wondering: Will this ever work; have I got what it takes? IT WILL AND YOU DO but - You've got to do what will actually work and I'm going to be really straight and tell you what those things are right now. The truth is it's harder than a lot of people will tell you online. For this to work, you've got to be so hungry for this to work, you've got to feel like it's your life's mission to show up in this way and make this work, you've got to focus on learning the proper skills of positioning value, marketing, mindset and sales to turn on sales and set yourself free. I know you want more clients and I know you can help more people. But I also know that the best coaches don't win - the best marketeers do, every time. So, if you want to build an online business and be an online coach or course provider, you've got to accept the fact you're about to become an expert in online marketing and selling. And I'm going to help you! So here's the bottom line. In a job, you get paid for showing up, regardless if you do the work or not. In entrepreneurship you do not get paid for showing up. You get paid for two reasons: (1) You added meaningful value to someone who was willing to pay for that value; and (2) Enough people got the chance to consider that valuable offer in the first place. If you're not making sales it HAS to come down to one of those two things and both are skills you develop with work, trial and error and well, more work. - For juicy context, here are some of those key ideas:   (1) Get into the world: First and foremost (hilarious phrase!?) you've got to get out in the world and sell things. Content will not lead to sales, no matter how great it is. What leads to sales is webinars, masterclasses, live workshops, discovery calls, freebies with a clear call to action. In the beginning, I understood this deeply. I made a lot of content to help build my brand and build trust, but I was ALLLWAAYYYSSS launching, selling stuff, trying stuff. I'd put on events in local coffee shops, I'd book hotel venues and put on talks every month, I'd go live on Facebook and announce new course launches. When I look back on my journey, I can see I was out there in the world. I was making new connections ALL THE TIME. I was meeting people. I was making pitches and offering things and I built my business one client at a time. Now, I tend to do long copy PDFs, and online masterclasses and workshops rather than live stuff. Back then, I did a lot in person. So ask yourself: How many times have I offered something low risk to bring people to the front of the room this year? If you can 10x that you will massively increase your sales.   (2) Tell people what you believe: Don't share boring generic sh!t and DON'T YOU DARE USE CHAT WHATEVER IT'S CALLED TO SHARE YOUR CONTENT. I don't even think you can use it for ideas if I'm honest. No-one wants to hear from a robot and no-one wants a generic summary of waffle off the internet. They want to know what worked for you! They want your powerful insights. They want the map you made! They want a human's journey. So honestly, get really deep with yourself and think about two things: (1) What is the one big outcome you can deliver right now for clients; and (2) What is the truth of what that will take. Go make that content. Go write those mailers. Go build offers in answer to that.   (3) More time with clients: Listen - get on calls with clients, offer more group time, offer more live time, offer more 121 time. If you're not making sales right now, being tight with your time is hilarious isn't it?! Instead offer more!! Double the time they get with you. If you have an online course, introduce a live weekly call where you teach key concepts and answer questions. If you're coaching is 6 sessions, make it 6 sessions + 3 action check ins. If you have a group, make one week live training and another week dedicated Q&A. This doesn't just make it a great offer, it gives you so much valuable insight about where people are, what they need, how you can help.   Useful videos:  How to find the subconscious block that's hiding in plain sight: https://youtu.be/b4a7KFB7xYg You will make it! Overwhelmed? Here's clear inspiration for completing THAT project! / A Quick Listen

Open projects come with an emotional toll! If there's something you can't get to because of time, but you're seeing evidence of it everywhere you turn, that will drain your energy and enthusiasm for that project. It's just so frustrating and taxing! So, here's what I recommend: (1) List your projects in order of priority. I know you want to do them all at once but you can't. So be bold. Put them in order so you can give them your all when they get to the top of the list. [Tip: I like to think about one key project per month! If the 'big project' is something like 'renovate hallway', I break it down into cut the wood panels, attach wood panels, prep, paint prep, painting, dress. One of two of these sub projects are allocated per month.] (2) Look in your diary and physically ring fence time to work on the upcoming projects. Recently, in writing my book proposal for Hay House, I scheduled time to clear things off my list to make room and I scheduled time for research, drafting ideas and polishing key sections. If you don't schedule the time, you don't have the time. (3) Use time slots! I would set myself a 60 minute timer with one key task like 'write bio in book proposal' or '60 minutes editing for membership content'. After the 60 minutes, I've begun and don't want to stop. But it stops me bailing too soon! At the end of the day, your success comes down to how well you can define these projects, allocate time to them and work through one by one in a self directed way. - How to find the subconscious block that's holding you back: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4a7KFB7xYg&t=1345s How to stop self-sabotage - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eVBbey5LfTQ Click here to download the 2024 planning tool, with the 'five levels' for your key goals: https://lisa-bean.com/strategy/ Click here for 33 pages on how to sell - it's honest, practical and motivational - https://lisa-bean.com/how-to-sell/   Connect with me: Check out my website https://lisa-bean.com/ Connect with me on Instagram https://instagram.com/lisabeanuk Connect with me on Facebook https://www.facebook.com/lisambean/

#23 3 things 7-figures in sales has taught me about making sales online

The best coaches / trainers in the world aren't the ones who make all the sales. The best sales people are the ones who make all the sales. What I mean is that they use very specific sales strategies to find customers, position the benefits and ask for the sale. In my experience, this is the part a lot of purpose driven coaches and course providers avoid. Sometimes it's not even conscious. They've literally never been taught how to sell. What I find these people doing instead is posting content that doesn't really show the product, move the customer forward or link to the next logical step in the sales process. So, if you want to make more sales in your online coaching / education business, press play to learn: (1) The difference between 'lead' content and 'brand' content and why your current content isn't generating sales + how to fix this instantly; (2) The one thing you can do in your week to instantly drum up more business and make more sales online; and, (3) How to tackle the mindset of selling and online sales in a really different way. This episode is motivational, strategic and tactical.  I think it's a bit of a corker.  Please do enjoy.  P.s Here's the guide I reference in the video: https://lisa-bean.com/how-to-sell/ - 30 in depth pages of precise guidance on how to turn on sales in your online business. #onlinebusiness #selling #howtosell #howtomakesalesonline

How to do 'the work'...and the true meaning of life / A Quick Listen

There are two types of work required to get the result you want in life and business: (1) The physical graft of making progress; and (2) The emotional work of overcoming your own blocks and self-limiting beliefs. It's vital, when trying to change your life, to consider who you need to become as a person in order to hold the result. This means taking physical steps and building the habits of that person and doing the work to move through subconscious thoughts that might be holding you back. So, what skills do you need? What physical steps do you need to take? What habits do you need to build? And... Where are you holding yourself back? How are you self-sabotaging? What pain are you turning away from you might need to face? Don't try and skip the lessons or skip the steps. Remind yourself of your goal. Write out the plan. And lean into the bits you probably want to avoid!   Books I referenced in the episode: You Can Heal Your Life, Louise Hay -  https://amzn.to/3UsrH5U How To Do The Work, Dr. Nicole LePera - https://amzn.to/3QwHDTB Life After Life, Raymond A. #22 Seeing it through: how to finish your important work and let it be seen

In this episode, I want to bring you behind the scenes of this book writing process and tell you three things that are changing the way I think about 'commercial success' and the very act of finishing your purpose-led work (your art) and letting it be seen. I think all of us have something purpose-driven within us; a form of art we want to share with the world. In the beginning, we must allow room for the messy start so that we can get our first ideas onto paper, and then see that process through to a commercial polish in order to help that art be seen in the world. I'm covering: The process of writing a book and book proposal How to create deadlines you can't wriggle out of and why this is so important Different ways you can use 'frameworks' to breakdown the work and develop your ideas I'm also covering context for the book including:  How I managed to change my subconscious programming on debt and abundance How I started the 'healing' work to change my life What it truly means to change I hope you enjoy! #19 Don't stay stuck! Five Motivational Truths for Online Business Success in 2024

If right now you're struggling to get the results you want, but you're ready to make a change and take your life and business to the next level in 2024, listen in.  In this episode, I'm going to share with you five of the most transformational and eye-opening things I've ever learned about changing your life, with a focus on growing an online business (because the rules are so different in online business!) Yes, you'll hear things that are hopeful and inspiring, but I also have to pepper this with the reality of what it actually takes to change who you are, change your life, and change the results you're  getting. Here's what I talk about: The result you're currently getting is fair, even if you're not happy with it Why we feel too busy to create content, when content IS the job Short-term pleasure vs. long-term satisfaction and why we go for the former 9 out of 10 times Building the capacity to do difficult things in your business doesn't happen at your desk If you want to get different results, you have to change who you are; and there's two versions of us that you don't hear about often. I've made two other episodes about this last point: #15 Find the Subconscious Block That's Hiding in Plain Sight (Part 1) #18 How to Change Your Subconscious Beliefs: 3 Surprising Keys (Part 2) If you want to dive even deeper into these topics and receive ongoing support, I have a monthly membership program where we dive deep into how to hit your goals, how to change your behaviours and change your programming. #20 Create, don't just respond - How to make progress in your business

Being an entrepreneur is one of the craziest, stupidest, dumbest things you're going to attempt. And once you are afflicted with the purpose of being an entrepreneur and building companies, you can't help it. You cannot suppress entrepreneurship. If you've got a drive to create things, just accept that you're stuck with it. In this episode, I want to talk about burnout and overwhelm. I'm going to run through the things I do to manage burnout and keep it at bay. At the end of the episode, I'm going to show you how to reframe your goals, and break them down using four key categories that will make it easier to understand what's required to go the distance without burning out and feeling totally overwhelmed. And I promise you, I will not mention SMART goals ONCE! What I'm Covering: My definition of burnout and the underlying causes of it How to assess your skill set, capacity and energy levels in relation to what you want to achieve A sensibly stupid goal - what's that? Where to get the real feedback on the effort you're putting in The order of events - how to make yourself safe before you stretch too thin Never forget that entrepreneurship is SELLING the stuff you're making Why you must learn which activities make your brain switch off To break through as an entrepreneur, you'll need to put in the work of an elite athlete. But don't punish yourself on this crazy journey. There is a better way to succeed and achieve your goals, without the burnout and overwhelm. #013 Hay House Writer's Workshop - the BIG Takeaways (About Writing a Book!)

This weekend, I attended the Hay House Writer's Workshop about writing and publishing a book and took enough notes to write a book! It was phenomenal - the energy, the people, the content, the speakers. I will tell you up front: I highly recommend this event to any good-hearted person who dreams of writing and publishing their own book.  But - the event didn't just teach you how to finish that book and get it out there in the world. It covered so much more including: How and why you should be building community now, and how to do that if you're reluctant. What you must know before writing a book, and how this will help you build your business too. How to put together your book proposal and what publishers really want to see. The importance of writing from 'spirit' and joy instead of ego, and how to make that transition. There was such a beautiful energy at the event; an energy of 'being of service'.  There was also a very strong message about writing with joy. You put a lot of 'life force' and energy into a book so don't make it a slog - make it joyous. Anyway, I don't want to give it all away. Press play. I think you'll get a lot from today's episode about business, marketing and purpose, as well about about writing your book and getting published.  Additional resources I mention in the episode Hay House Writer's Resources - https://www.hayhouse.co.uk/writers-resources Kris Carr's beautiful new book I am Not a Mourning Person - https://kriscarr.com/book Kelly Notaris and KN Literary Arts - https://knliterary.com/ Kelly Notaris's book - The Book You Were Born to Write - https://knliterary.com/born-to-write-homepage/ Sonia Choquette and her incredible list of books - https://soniachoquette.net/my-books/ Vex King on Instagram, author of Good Vibes, Good Life (huge bestseller!) https://www.instagram.com/vexking/?hl=en Simone Heng - Human Connection Specialist - https://simoneheng.com/ First Sh!t Version, my book on Amazon https://amzn.to/3MpcWgK :-)  Let's connect:  Check out my website Connect with me on Instagram  Connect with me on Facebook

#011 Dealing with Overwhelm as an Online Entrepreneur

If you're feeling overwhelmed in your business and life, it's very likely to be both of them together. Overwhelm comes in different shapes. You feel like you're running out of money, there's never enough time for what you have to do, and there's pressure on you to know all the answers. If that's how you feel, know that it is so normal for entrepreneurs.  But I can't allow you to continue down that path. We can change it, and in this episode, I'll talk you through a three-step process to deal with overwhelm. What You'll Learn: Defining true goals: What am I actually trying to do here? Defining the path: What is the vehicle that's going to get me there? How to know the difference between tactics and long-term strategy Safety first: identifying what makes you feel safe What it really means being in your power I'll leave you to work through these steps with a quote by my mum who said, "Lisa, you can be anything, you can do anything, you can do it all, but you can't do it all today." #010 How do I Build a Strategic Six-Figure Business?

When you do a launch as a coach or a trainer, you win your customers and that feels great. Then six months go by, you're so busy delivering for the customers that you forget to go out selling. And now you're back to square one - there's no cash coming in and you're in big trouble.  The remedy for that is building a strategic six-figure business that generates a pipeline of leads for your business. If you want to know how to do that, in this episode I'm going to give you four key pointers for building a strategic six-figure business packed with leads.   Here's what I cover:  How having a timeline helps you sell more  Back to basics: your offer and your customer How to tap into algorithms to help the customer choose you How to build a funnel that works without your full presence  Once you nail these four levels, you'll never run out of leads or pipeline again. That is how building a strategic six-figure business works. And If you want to learn a little bit more, I've written 30 pages explaining exactly how to do this. #009 How to Sell Now

How do I make money in my business today? That's the question I get asked a lot.  If you're a coach or a course creator and you're doing it all, from planning the launch, delivering on it, to dealing with taxes - it's a lot, I understand. And so entrepreneurs sneakily love to say - I'm too busy to sell. Now, let's get this straight: to be an entrepreneur is to sell stuff. It is so stressful to be delivering all the time only to watch the money run out and all of a sudden find yourself trying to make something up and go out to the market again.  This episode is going to tackle what happens if you're in that situation. I'll share three things you can do to make more money in your business right now and start getting cash in immediately.  Here's what I cover:  How to finalise your offer and get it in front of your ideal clients Creating attraction events to allow people to feel your energy  How you can refresh and update your current offer  And here's my invitation for you: I'm inviting you to work through the three ideas I share in this episode this week, and then next week I'll come back diving deeper into another question - how do I build a strategic six-figure business?  Resources:  Brand new free guide: How to write an epic 'attraction event' to fire up engagement and sales in your onlilne business: download here >>  Check out my website Conenct with me on Instagram  Connect with me on Facebook

#008 How to sell online coaching programmes (what six figure coaches know)

How odd is this concept: 75% of your job as an entrepreneur, trying to build a multiple six figure thing, is sales and marketing. I mean: If you're wondering what you should be doing today, it's this: - Making offers and making them better - Posting content and building audience and pipeline - Adding value to future customers and making sales Once those jobs are ticked, you can raise your invoices, book your calls, reply to the person quoting you insurance. These jobs are secondary. Your main job is to market and to sell. Again… Your main job as an online coach / provider is to market and sell. How does that sit with you? Does it feel weird? I bet it does. Good people who feel driven by purpose ALSO have a feeling deep down that selling is a bit odd. We want to share our gifts and knowledge, and we want to help...for free. You can of course build a model like that, where you give away your gifts for free. But you'd have to make your money elsewhere. A lottery win. Marrying into money. A job. Another business that funds this one. Or…you can build a model where you get to add a lot of value, and make a lot of sales. That's what I'm talking about in today's video but first, a little more context… I know you might feel like you're wasting your time editing a video that only 100 people see. You wish you were better on camera / at editing / with lighting. You wish you could afford to outsource it. You wish more people would see it. You might feel frustrated, like 'Argh, that'll do', finalising the sales page for your next offer, knowing you're anxious about selling. You wish someone could just send you the clients. You wish selling was easier. But this is business: marketing, selling; learning to move people to action. The very nature of being an entrepreneur means learning how to provide value in exchange for money. And like anything worth doing, it is truly a skill that requires mastery. It takes time and hours in. Again… Marketing and selling are skills that require mastery. And the more time and effort you put in, the better you will get. You WILL be better at positioning value if you craft 20 offers in a year instead of three. You WILL be better at marketing if you post once a day, rather than twice a week. You WILL figure it all out faster if you lean in and recognise that this is a skill that requires practice, time in and attempts. The work will mould you. That being said, there is something you can take advantage of to help you on this journey. All of us have an 'edge' – a skill that we've developed without even knowing it; a skill that has become so baked into our personalities that it's natural and normal to us now. You will even use it today. For me, growing up as a military kid and moving home / country every two years, then going off to boarding school had its downsides, but it also gave me something I will value and leverage forever. I am good with people. I am very quick at reading people. I know people. Sometimes I feel like I can read minds. I know how people are feeling, what they're not telling me, where I need to push, and where I need to encourage more gently. I learnt this from having to fit in and make friends over and over and over again. I learnt this as a child, in a natural way, without books and psychology and hacks. It's became part of who I am, and then I built on it with books, psychology, training, and hours in coaching and helping. Using this little bit of magic, I can find the crux of an offer, I can build honest relationships quickly, I can position the value people want. I can sell. In the coming weeks, I want you to reflect on this concept and ask: What is my little bit of magic? What skill or ability have I developed that I can lean on and use in my business, to help me add value, to make deals, to sell? We all have something. You have something, I promise you. So what is it? And how can you use it more? Start looking. Meanwhile, this might help as a reminder of what's important when it comes to selling at this level. In this week's instalment, I'm showing you the three places where the sale happens. What I'm about to share with you is known to six figure business owners who continue to sell and grow. If you can shift your mindset to master this approach, you can sell and sell, build and build, and never have to worry about where your next sale will come from. Enjoy. Lisa
