The Mighty Turtle Podcast

Hi, my name is Karen Vasquez and I have been living with scleroderma and sarcoidosis shortly after my service in the Navy. I began blogging in 2009 to share my experiences. At first, it was simply to raise awareness, but the more people I met with different conditions the more I realized that we may have different diagnoses, but we have a lot in common. We are all in this together and many of us are living longer, more fulfilling lives. People used to ask me what was wrong with my hands and when I explained it, they got depressed. Then, I started using humor. Humor is amazing for teaching because if I can make someone laugh, they are more likely to remember what I tell them. In 2013, I began doing stand-up comedy but have slowed down this year because I had some major complications. Successful comedians must tour and it's too much for me right now. Podcasting isn't the same as a live interaction with my audience, but I can still tell funny stories and talk to guests. Please
