    Relationship Addiction Part 1

This episode explores codependency not as a flaw, but as a learned survival pattern.Markeshe opens the conversation by reflecting on how codependency has shown up in her own life—particularly in overextending, over-accommodating, and tying her identity to being needed. She reframes codependency as:👉 a response to emotional environments👉 a pattern rooted in attachment, not weaknessFrom there, she shifts into interruption strategies, focusing on: • Boundary setting as a form of self-definition, not rejection • Therapy as a tool for unlearning emotional over-responsibility • Recognizing the difference between helping vs. self-abandoningThe emotional tone of the episode is anchored by🎵 “And I Am Telling You” by Jennifer Hudson—which symbolizes the intensity, attachment, and emotional grip often mistaken for love in codependent dynamics. The episode ultimately challenges the listener to ask:“Is this love… or is this attachment rooted in fear of losing myself or someone else?”

    Internal motivator

In this episode, Markeshe talks about going from external motivation to internal motivation. There are two types of internal motivation: that which arises out of direct enjoyment for engaging in a given task, and that which comes from a sense of internalized obligation or responsibility to engage in a task. In order to fully understand internal, or intrinsic, motivation it is necessary to gain a working knowledge of its conceptual opposite: external motivation. External motivation is the result of external reward or incentive. External motivation occurs when a person acts in order to obtain something, such as praise or tangible rewards. Markeshe learns to find her motivation to thrive, to live, to press forward from within. Song- Fight song by Rachel Platten

This is my story. And I am sticking to it!

In this pilot episode we get to know the creator of “The Miseducation of Sistir”, Markeshe Wood or “Keshe”. Keshe has been on a mental health journey by way of a mental health program and has discovered some things about herself and the people surrounding her. She channels Lauryn Hill’s “Superstar” as she asks the listener to “light her fire” and to go higher. She delves into common issues faced by many, in particular, African American women. This issue is deeply rooted in the stigma of the “Strong Black Woman” and society has forced the SBW to “suffer in silence”. She channels her educational background and experience in healthcare to unveil the truth behind the “anger”. She delves into addressing mental health disorders as what they are instead of giving them negative stereotypes. She encourages everyone to reveal their stories and discontinue suffering in silence. Markeshe Wood is a board certified and licensed family nurse practitioner. She has been studying to obtain her psychiatric mental health certification and is in her final semester of the program. She has worked in healthcare for 14 years. She has a particular interest in mental health and its bias in the African American community. She tackles her own mental health in order to find the greatest love of all- self love. She encourages her listeners to do the same and come out of the bondage of silence. She encourages every listener to #SpeakSis!

    The Miseducation- Strong. Black. Woman.

Strong. Black. Woman. Three words put together mean so much. How often have you been told unfairly to be strong? Strong. What is strength? And why do I have to have so much of it? And why does my strength mean that I need to be silent… Or does it? Have we been misinformed? Have we been miseducated on what strength is to the point where it has allowed us to suffer in silence? Let’s venture & see… #SpeakSis
