Born Darius Lawson on May 25, 1979 in Birmingham, AL where he developed a love of music early. Around the age of 8 he was changing out records for family house parties. After noticing the reaction of the party goers, it was at that instant that he knew he wanted to become a DJ. Following the lead of his older cousin DJ Doe who gave him the opportunity to follow and learn how to set up and break down the equipment. DJ Whitebread learned style and technique from many local radio DJs. Starting out on his own with 1 turntable, a RadioShack mixer, the top half of A CD/tape deck boom box and a pair of Kenwood House speakers he began to do school parties with the help of DJ Doe. He spent many hours in local record stores searching for the perfect records to rock the party. In April of 1996, his Jr year at Ramsay High, he was called on to DJ the Military Ball and that was the official beginning of DJ Whitebread.
