The Newlywed Playbook
by Kelsey Albright
Real talk for the newlyweds who want a marriage that lasts. A podcast for newlyweds in the first five years of marriage. We don’t see other marriages behind closed doors, but the best marriages are the ones who swing the doors open and have unhindered, honest communication. After years of watching newlyweds struggle through the first 5 years of marriage, myself included, I want to normalize open and vulnerable communication-- even when you disagree. Let’s talk about the real stuff, play by play.

The Class That Saved Our Marriage…For Real
Finances almost wrecked my husband and I as newlyweds. We didn’t know how to structure a budget that worked for us, and we certainly didn’t know how to have the uncomfortable conversations around money. It wasn’t until a year into our marriage that we really sat down and realized how much debt we were in. In our desperation to turn things around, we found Financial Peace University. Truthfully, it completely changed the trajectory of our lives for the better. Listen in to hear about how we turned our lives around.

How to Avoid This Pitfall as a Newlywed
Communicating expectations is the KEY as you begin your journey into marriage. Hopefully you've already had the big conversations...do we want kids? Where do we want to live? Do our future goals align? But once you are in the day-in and day-out of marriage, there are tons of little expectations that, if go on without talking about them, could land you in the traps of bitterness and resentment. As newlyweds, you are working together to build the foundation for the rest of your marriage, so NOW is the time to have the potentially uncomfortable conversations around expectations.

Welcome to The Newlywed Playbook
As a newlywed, I searched for resources that were specifically geared toward people new to marriage. I wasn't looking for counseling to solve a crisis, but I felt a need for guidance in the day to day of being newly married. I wanted a resource that would help me avoid the the common pitfalls of marriage and I wanted to be strong and confident in what my husband and I were stepping into. Now, seven years into my own marriage, I feel like I have something to share in the conversation. I want to see new marriages thrive and blossom into beautiful, life-giving relationships that makes marriage look like the truly amazing thing that it is. Does the world really need one more podcast? Maybe not, but this is my attempt to share my own story and hopefully offer something that might even help one person. This is The Newlywed Playbook.
