Series Conclusion: The Impacts of Pride

Welcome back for a final time, dearest Listener! In this concluding episode, I discuss some of the wonderful impacts the first pride has had on the movement for LGBTQ+ rights.  Here's the sources you've all been waiting for: Hollard, Brynn. “How Activists Plotted the First Gay Pride Parades” History Stories. 2020. A&E Television Networks, LLC. https://www.history.com/news/how-activists-plotted-the-first-gay-pride-parade “Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer Pride Month” Library of Congress, 2020. https://www.loc.gov/lgbt-pride-month/ As a panromantic asexual in the "+", it has been a joy to learn about the history of activism in a community I truly love and want to fight for.  I hope you've enjoyed learning about it as I do, or at the very least had a pleasant time!

    Pride Parades Across the Nation

Welcome back, Listener! In this episode, I briefly describe all the pride parades that could be considered the "first" Prides. Who knew there were four original parades that we can thank for Pride sticking around today! Per usual, here's the source I used for this episode: Hollard, Brynn. “How Activists Plotted the First Gay Pride Parades” History Stories. 2020. A&E Television Networks, LLC. https://www.history.com/news/how-activists-plotted-the-first-gay-pride-parade

    Brenda Howard

Greetings listener! In this episode, I give a brief biography of Brenda Howard who is regarded as "The Mother of Pride" because of how involved she was in the event's organization. I used this source primarily for research in this episode: Wilbur, Jennifer. “Brenda Howard: Bisexual Activist and Mother of Pride” Owlcation, 2018. https://owlcation.com/humanities/Brenda-Howard-Bisexual-Activist-and-The-Mother-of-Pride  It seems like healthy coping mechanisms are working, so I'm hoping these newer episodes have significantly less voice shaking! :D

    A Truely Fabulous Backstory

Welcome back, listener! In this episode, I'll be diving into the origin of Pride's fun and expressive attitude with some history about the Stonewall Inn Riots. Bring on the Drag Queens and Hustlers! Here are the sources I used in this episode: Hollard, Brynn. “How Activists Plotted the First Gay Pride Parades” History Stories. 2020. A&E Television Networks, LLC. https://www.history.com/news/how-activists-plotted-the-first-gay-pride-parade Bruce, Katherine. “Pride Parades” Google Books, 2016. NYU Press, https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=-2m3DAAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PA1&dq=america+gay+pride+parade+origin&ots=4B83TP593G&sig=FHUoRAM-GzEhqzWWOG6VZCPmbxY#v=onepage&q=america%20gay%20pride%20parade%20origin&f=false. Side note for whomever it may concern: I apologize (and probably will continue to apologize) for the shakey voice and generally messed up breathing patterns. It's a wonderful side effect of anxiety. Thank God for my theatre kid personality to cover it up most of the time.

    Introduction: The Protest before Pride

In this episode, I discuss the protest known as "The Annual Reminder" that stands as a predecessor to the Pride marches that occur today. You can find the source I used in this episode, Katherine McFarland Bruce's "Pride Parades: How Pride Changed the World", on google books at:  https://books.google.com/books?hl=en&lr=&id=-2m3DAAAQBAJ&oi=fnd&pg=PA1&dq=america+gay+pride+parade+origin&ots=4B83TP593G&sig=FHUoRAM-GzEhqzWWOG6VZCPmbxY#v=onepage&q=america%20gay%20pride%20parade%20origin&f=false   My research mostly used the first section of the first chapter, Pride Beginnings, on page 31.  Informal note: Apologies for a shakey voice and funky pauses, midnight anxiety kicked in and I had to sing the entire Bohemian Rhapsody beforehand to calm myself to just get a full take in. This is the best it gets.
