The Parent Educator Podcast
by Ally Blanch | Raising Resilient Kids + Parent Leadership
Education is changing… but most parents haven’t been given the language for what they’re starting to feel. This podcast is for the parent who has quietly thought:“Something about this doesn’t feel right for my child.”I’m Ally Blanch - former Assistant Principal, nervous system educator, and mum.I spent years inside the school system leading wellbeing and behaviour frameworks.I believed in the system. I worked hard in it.Until I became a mother…and started to see everything through a completely different lens. This podcast isn’t about giving you more strategies. It’s about helping you see your role differently.Because whether you’ve realised it or not -you have always been your child’s primary educator. Here, we explore what it means to step into that role with intention. Not from fear. Not from pressure. But from clarity.</p

Why I’m choosing to homeschool my daughter (as an ex Assistant Principal) - Part 1
This is a conversation I’ve been sitting on for a while. Not because I didn’t know what to say…but because there’s so much I’ve seen - and it’s not something I take lightly. In this episode, I share part one of why I’m choosing to homeschool my daughter, coming from my experience as a former Assistant Principal working inside the school system. This isn’t about criticising schools. It’s not about telling you what you should do.It’s about sharing what I observed over time - and why it led me to make a different, more intentional choice for my child. In this episode, we explore:• How children are shaped by their environment over time• The subtle but powerful impact of peer influence• How comparison is built into the structure of schooling• What happens when confidence becomes tied to performance• The role of the nervous system in learning and behaviour• Why regulation is foundational to how children learnThis conversation is for parents who are starting to question the system, or who feel that quiet sense that something about their child’s environment doesn’t fully align. Not from fear - but from awareness. This is about influence. This is about responsibility. This is about being willing to lead your child’s environment intentionally. If this episode resonates with you and you’re wanting support in navigating this space - whether you’re exploring homeschooling, alternative education, or simply wanting to feel more confident in your decisions as a parent - I’d love to hear from you.You can reach out here:📧 Email: [email protected]📲 Instagram: @allyyblanchAnd if this conversation is opening something up for you, make sure you follow along for Part 2 - where I go deeper into what I saw happening inside the child over time, and how that shapes identity, confidence and curiosity. If you’re enjoying the podcast, it would mean so much if you could take a moment to rate and review. It helps this message reach more families who are starting to think differently about education and the future of their children.

Learning to trust yourself as a parent (after years of outsourcing authority)
One of the biggest things that comes up for parents when they start questioning school, homeschooling, or choosing a different path for their family… isn’t actually education. It’s trust. In this episode, we unpack what it really means to trust yourself as a parent after years of being conditioned to look outside of yourself for answers.Because most of us were taught to follow systems, listen to authority, and get it “right” - not to lead, question, or think differently when it comes to our children’s lives and learning. So when something about the school system doesn’t feel right…or you start exploring homeschooling, alternative education, or a more intentional family life…The real question becomes:Can I trust myself to do this differently? In this episode, we explore:• Why parents lose trust in themselves (and how the schooling system reinforces this)• The connection between nervous system regulation and self-trust• Why you can “know” something feels right but still feel stuck• How to rebuild trust in your parenting decisions• What it actually looks like to lead your child’s education with confidence• And why self-trust is the foundation of choosing a different path for your familyThis conversation is for parents who feel that quiet inner pull - that something about the current education system isn’t fully aligned - but aren’t yet confident in what to do next.If this episode resonates with you, this is exactly the work we go deeper into inside Parent Educator Foundations - my 6-week program designed to help parents build confidence, clarity and trust in choosing a different path for their child’s learning and life.👉 Join Parent Educator Foundations here:I’d also love to hear what landed for you from this episode.👉 Send me a message on Instagram and share your thoughts - I have a special offer for those who feel called to reach out: @allyyblanchAnd if you’re enjoying the podcast, it would mean so much if you could take a moment to rate and review. Not just because it supports the show…but because it helps this message reach more families who are starting to question, think differently, and choose more intentionally. It also allows me to connect with more aligned guests to bring onto the podcast for you.Thank you for being here and being part of this conversation.

Money, fear & choosing differently as a family
This is a conversation that needs to be had so much more.Because when parents start questioning the school system…when they feel that quiet pull to choose differently for their child…This is the first thing that comes up.Money.Not just “can we afford it” -but everything underneath that.Safety.Control.Trust.Worthiness.In this episode, I’m sharing our real relationship with money. How Lach and I came into this with completely different patterns…how those patterns were shaped long before we even realised…and how choosing differently for our family forced us to look at all of it.We talk about:• why school doesn’t actually teach us how to have a healthy relationship with money• how attachment styles show up in the way we hold (or don’t hold) money• the difference between having money and feeling safe with money• the decisions we’ve made that don’t “logically” make sense - but have expanded us in every way• why money becomes the biggest block when families consider homeschooling or choosing differently• and what actually needs to shift to move through thatThis isn’t a conversation about budgeting or saving tips. This is about identity. This is about leadership. This is about the way you relate to your life. And it’s one of the biggest pieces of work we do inside Parent Educator Foundations.Because choosing differently for your child…requires you to feel safe in making decisions that don’t always follow the default path.If this episode is landing for you -if you can feel that tension between what you know is possible and what feels “safe”…I’ve opened up something for you.I’m currently running a founding round of Parent Educator Foundations. For the first 5 people who message me the word FOUNDING on Instagram, you’ll receive $200 off - bringing the full 6-week program to $497.Which, honestly, is insane for the depth of work inside this. This is for parents who know something about the system isn’t right for their child…but don’t yet feel fully confident in choosing differently.👉 Message me here: @allyyblanchMoney isn’t the block. It’s the relationship you have with it.And that can change.

How Asking Questions Transformed Our Family and Reclaimed Our Time
This is a really personal episode.I sat down with my husband Lachlan to talk about what it’s actually looked like for us to question the default path… and choose differently for our family. Not just in education - but in how we live, how we parent, how we make decisions, and what we’re really prioritising.Because this wasn’t something we both agreed on straight away. There were doubts. There were fears. There were a lot of conversations behind the scenes. In this episode, we unpack:• What we both believed about school, success, and “how life works” before becoming parents• The moments that started to shift our thinking• The fears we had (socialisation, future, money, getting it wrong)• How we actually navigated those conversations as a couple without it turning into conflict• What’s changed in our relationship, our lifestyle, and how we see Eden’s learning now• What this has meant for our family as a wholeThis is a really honest conversation - not a polished version of “we had it all figured out.”It’s what it actually looks like to start questioning… and then slowly choose a different way.If you’re listening to this and feeling:“Something about this just makes sense… but I don’t fully know what to do with it yet”This is exactly the work we do inside Parent Educator Foundations. It’s where you begin to:• rebuild trust in yourself as your child’s primary educator• understand how children actually learn (beyond the system)• create environments at home where your child can truly thrive• move through the fear, doubt, and “what if I get this wrong” thinkingYou don’t need to have it all figured out.You just need to be willing to start seeing things differently.👉 Join the founding cohort here (spots are limited):A question to sit with after this episode:If fear wasn’t leading the decision…What would you actually choose for your child?- Instagram

When your decisions don’t make sense to anyone else
There’s nothing “wrong” with our life right now… and that’s what’s making this decision so hard. We’re in the middle of making a decision right now that… doesn’t make logical sense. On paper, our life is really good.We have a beautiful home. We’re close to family. We have support.Eden is settled. There’s no clear reason to leave. And yet… we’re choosing to.This episode is a real-time reflection of what it actually feels like to make decisions from alignment instead of logic. The conversations. The projections from others. The moments of doubt that creep in.And the constant return back to what we know is right for us.Because this isn’t just about moving. It’s about what happens when you start choosing differently… in any area of your life.Including how you raise and educate your child. When something doesn’t fully sit right anymore, but the alternative feels uncertain. When what you feel doesn’t match what makes sense to everyone else. This is the part people don’t talk about. The space in between what’s comfortable… and what’s calling you forward. If you’re in that space right now - questioning something, feeling the pull, but not fully knowing how to trust it yet…this episode is for you.

The quiet voice that says something isn’t right...
Many parents have experienced this moment. Not a big dramatic event… just a quiet feeling that something about their child’s experience in school doesn’t quite sit right.Maybe it’s the Sunday night shift in energy. The tears before getting in the car.The exhaustion after school.Or sometimes it’s even more subtle than that - just the sense that the environment your child is in doesn’t quite match who they are.And what often follows that instinct is self-doubt.“Maybe I’m overreacting.”“Maybe this is normal.”“Maybe every child goes through this.”In this episode we explore that quiet voice many parents experience when they start questioning education — and why it’s worth paying attention to without rushing into big decisions. We talk about:• Why parents often doubt themselves when something feels off• The difference between reaction and intuition• The early signs many parents notice in their children• And the four environments children need in order to truly thriveThis conversation isn’t about telling parents what they should do.It’s about slowing down, observing our children more closely, and reconnecting with the instinct many parents already feel but don’t always trust.Because sometimes the most important shifts in parenting don’t begin with certainty. They begin with a quiet question we’re willing to explore.—If this conversation resonates with you, I’m currently preparing to launch Parent Educator Foundations - a program designed to help parents think more intentionally about education, learning environments and the future our children are stepping into. You can join the waitlist and receive updates here

The lie we’ve been told about 'falling behind'
One of the biggest fears parents carry when they start questioning school is this:'What if my child falls behind?'Behind academically.Behind socially.Behind in life.In this episode, we unpack where that fear actually comes from - and why it deserves a deeper conversation.Because the truth is, the modern schooling model was largely built during the industrial era to prepare children for predictable roles inside structured workplaces. But we are now living through one of the most significant shifts in human history.Artificial intelligence.Automation.Rapid global change. Many of the jobs children are currently being prepared for simply won’t exist by the time they leave school.Which means the question isn’t just whether children are 'keeping up' academically. The real question is whether we are preparing them for the world they are actually entering. In this conversation we explore:• Where the idea of 'falling behind' came from• Why regulation always precedes learning• The human skills children will need in the future• And the four environments children need to truly thriveBecause literacy and numeracy absolutely matter - but learning happens best when children are emotionally safe, relationally connected, engaged with real life, and supported intellectually. If you’ve ever felt that quiet discomfort about the education system… this episode is for you.If this conversation resonates, I’m currently building a program for parents called Parent as Educator Foundations - designed to help families rethink education calmly, confidently and intentionally. You can learn more or join the waitlist here

Why I left being an Assistant Principal (and why this isn’t actually a pivot)
For those who have followed my work for a while, this episode might feel like a shift. It isn’t.It’s an integration. In this first episode of The Parent Educator Podcast, I share the real story behind leaving my role as an Assistant Principal - not out of frustration or rebellion, but because I couldn’t ignore what I was seeing inside the system anymore. This conversation explores:• What slowly began to feel misaligned inside the school environment• The nervous system lens that changed everything for me• Why regulation always comes before learning• The grief of walking away from a career you worked hard for• And how becoming a mother made this deeply personalThis isn’t anti-school... It’s not dramatic. It’s an honest reflection from someone who has been on the inside - and who now feels responsible to speak about what’s possible beyond it.If you’ve felt that quiet discomfort… that sense that something isn’t quite aligned… this episode is for you.—If this conversation resonates, I’m currently building Parent as Educator Foundations - a small, structured program for parents who want clarity, confidence, and calm leadership as they rethink education in their family. You can learn more or join the waitlist here:Parent as Educator Foundations
