In honor of Stephen Lawrence Day, on 22nd April, we have a whole podcast dedicated to Safeguarding.Stephen Lawerence was a victim of an unprovoked, racially motivated attack in 1993. It was found that Met Police officers investigating the murder were institutionally racist and this led to the case not being dealt with fairly. New Project Alert!Gym Safe is a 2-level pledge; 1 for the leisure centre and its staff and 1 for its members. Being part of the scheme provides training and an increased awareness for staff and gym users who identify when someone’s behaviour or language is inappropriate or threatening. The Ramsgate Sun Shelters along the Royal Esplanade get some much needed maintenance. Lots of volunteers turned up to help prepare the shelters for the winter period, including Ramsgate Town Council, who organised the work, local residents, Thanet District Council Community Team and Kent Police. We are on the lookout for anyone with the knowledge and skills to help repair the benches in these shelters.
