The Intimacy Series: Episode III - Intimacy & Sex + questioning your sex narrative

In this episode, Hilary and I continue the journey through what intimacy means, from safe body, attunement with self, then attunement with others and now into the bedroom where most people place the idea of where intimacy exists.  We talk all about those foundations we’ve built upon in the previous episodes and when they are applied in intimacy through sex, that connection reaches new depths and new heights. We talk through the 4 sex narratives that permeate our culture. Where do you land within those narratives, then get curious, ask questions about why you’re there; have you ever challenged that narrative; is it a narrative you do agree with?We chat about triggering topics y’all.  AS with all the episodes, Hilary and I encourage you to approach the information in this episode with compassion and curiosity.  IF you find yourself in discussion alongside us where you’re defending a position, or in high energy disagreement, ask…-Where are my limiting beliefs?-Where are my judgements, my projections? -Where are my insecurities?Basically, where is my conditioning showing up.  Vs.  how might this be a doorway to something that leads me into a deeper experience with intimacy than I could have ever imagined? It’s totally okay to disagree, it’s super healthy, and I encourage you to be where you are at.  There is no perfect place to be. AND, there is no ‘right’ place to be.  We simply want you to challenge where you are.  And if you land in the same place, super good.  You have consciously chosen your position.  That I absolutely can get behind! Within the exploration and questioning of this subject, Hilary and I know there is abuse, it is so real, we do validate that, know its legitimacy. There is so much nuance to relationships, we would have to dissect so much from the individual story before we even approach challenging our narratives within the relationship with ‘who you want to be intimate with.’ I considered this for a while, the place I was brought back to is the start of this series…safe body and attunement.  I really feel when these foundations are present, we can approach the experiences of  ‘disharmony, or un met needs/expectations’ and how our personal narratives/conditionsings contribute to that within a relationship in a much more grounded and clear way. ✨ If you’re looking for support in reconnecting to your body, you can reach out to Hilary or myself, we both have different styles, but share core foundations of personal intimacy and attunement. #50 Intentional Initiation: Why Rites, Rituals, and Ceremony Matter

This episode is all about  rituals and ceremonies as initiations across life's biggest thresholds. My guest, Johannah, is an educator and ceremonialists trained in soul-centric human development, Rites of Passage, wilderness education.  She is also trained as a Waldorf teacher,  working with children of all ages for over 20 years She holds a particular passion for tweens/teens, where she strives to meet their developmental needs for mentorship and initiation in a culture that has forgotten how to do so. In this episode, you'll hear Johanna's story of how she came to recognize the void of initiation, and why she seeks to weave in the remembrance of the olds ways with the modern world.  We chat about why these moments of crossing need to be witnessed, and the disconnect to earth and cycles that exists because we are largely void of and unaware of these points of passage. If this episode, and Johanna's work speak to you, please share this episode and check out her online resources. Johannah has offerings in free education on instagram and webinars, as well as Girls Group facilitator training. The Intimacy Series, Ep. II - How Childhood Shame Shapes Adult Intimacy + How To Work With It

This episode builds on themes from Part 1 of our intimacy series, exploring how our early experiences shape what intimacy, safety, and sexual empowerment feel like in our adult lives.Hillary and I dive into our personal stories of body and sexual conditioning, and how shame often tags along. We’re not sex ed experts, but we’ve done the deep inner work—and what we’ve found is that true empowerment starts in childhood. We talk about the root chakra, the power of safe touch, and how attuned parenting can change everything. By modeling a shameless relationship to our own bodies, we help children grow into adults who deeply know the language of their own bodies and boundaries. This is about healing intimacy—for ourselves, our relationships, and our future generations._____________________________________________If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know!Email your submission to:[email protected] Hi, it's Malia showing up here in the show notes to (wink, wink,) drop a reminder to ya'll to leave a 5 star review if you haven't already! THE INTIMACY SERIES: Episode 1 - Establishing Safety in the Body

We live in a society that has become disconnected from its roots—disconnected from the wisdom of the body, from intimacy that feels safe, and from the power of fully embodied presence. For so many of us, it's been safer to live from the neck up—thinking, analyzing, performing—while the rest of us, the parts that feel, move, and desire, have been conditioned into silence. This series is an invitation to reawaken the whole body. To unlearn the fear, shame, and disconnection that keep us from trusting ourselves and experiencing intimacy in its fullest, most life-giving form. Through the lens of somatic experiencing and tantric embodiment, we’ll explore what it means to truly feel at home in ourselves, to reclaim our pleasure and power, and to build relationships that honor our deepest truths. This is not just about sex. This is about presence, aliveness, and reclaiming the sacred connection to our bodies.____________________________________________Topics from Episode 1 :-Safety in our body, why it's important-The signals our body sends that it feels open, allowed, loved-Atunement, a deep listening-Being comfortable in our Trauma ResponseTools from Episode 1:-Become present by slowing down and getting curious-Take inventory of your trauma responses-Take inventory of who you feel safe around, what does that mean for you, what are your criteria? Then asses your findings...is this safety or a result of conditioning, shame or pain? _____________________________________________If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know!Email your submission to:[email protected] ________________________________________Hi, it's Malia showing up here in the show notes to (wink, wink,) drop a reminder to ya'll to leave a 5 star review if you haven't already! #46 Being the Same & Being Different. Exploring Culture & Belonging Through Art with Joy Curtis

This weeks guest Joy Curtis brings to the conversation an insightful perspective on culture, what it means to be human and how we are all alike, yet at the same time, we are different and shouldn’t seek to change those differences or even to have the need to be where we don’t need to be.  An alternate view on unity, where there exists within unity the allowance of being different, allowing the other to remain other. The conversations jumping off point stems from Joy’s art, specifically her series of Native American sketches she did for Native American Heritage Month back in Nov.  You can find those pieces linked in the show notes.   In this series, Joy sought to capture  how we are all human in the same ways.  She shares the wisdom she has gleaned from her experience with this series and through her lived life with the Dine…also more commonly know as the Navajo Nation.  _________________________________________If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know!Email your submission to:[email protected] ________________________________________Hi, it's Malia showing up here in the show notes to (wink, wink,) drop a reminder to ya'll to leave a 5 star review if you haven't already! #45 How to Allow & Overcome the Need to Control

Hey everyone! In this episode, I dive deeper into the concepts discussed in episode 44, with Kimber Dutton. In this episode I talk about the need to control- How the need to control comes from a place of fear. How we can notice it's rising by signals our body sends. What to do about it. I give some step by step examples of how to talk yourself off the cliff in times of 'reaction', so you can step into a more aligned response. ________________________________________________ If you have questions you want to submit for our Sexual Reclamation Series, please email them to [email protected] If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know! #43 On Nature and Connection with Somatic Guide Stephanie Burg

This episode really highlights elements of an enriched life experience that comes from being connected.  Connected to body, connected to earth, connected to each other and ancestry.  Connection starts in the root! Stephanie talks about ‘pulling up’ our energetic roots when we are in trauma, a really beautiful metaphor connecting us to how nature also works. Puling up our own roots keeps us from connection to the earth and keeps us from interconnectedness with our various communities...with others.  We also chat about natural cycles and the many benefits of learning and following them. Stephine Burg is a Somatic and Soul Healing Guide. She is in service to help women reclaim their innate wisdom, and root into collective change. She also holds retreats, plant medicine ceremonies and guides in trauma integration. You can find her with the links below. #42 Human Design: Black Holes, Red Flags & Living In Alignment with Tangie Nadimi

Hey, hey everyone.  Welcome to part II in my little Human Design explorative series.  Today’s guest and teacher is Tangie Nadimi.  She is the Feel Good Expert across all social platforms.  Today, Tangie and I chat about human design in a variety of ways, but most notably -> -Defined and Undefined Centers -Parenting and Relationships Tangie and I also swap stories about our personal journeys with Human Design and how it has helped us in our relationships and parenting. We also discuss the fallacies and misconceptions that we can come across when interpreting Human Design and the importance of using it as a tool rather than a rigid belief system!  I loved how Tangie explains that having defined and undefined centers is not good or bad, but rather an opportunity for learning and expansion. She encourages us to understand our own definition and use it as a guide for making decisions and taking action!  Tangie also chats about the dangers of misinformation and the importance of being an independent thinker in the study of Human Design, which is something I super love and promote….independent thinking!  Other Themes in This Episode:  -Living in alignment with our true natures  - Understanding our defined and undefined centers in human design.  -When we are stuck in the constructs of the mind or don't feel quite right, we tend to go to our undefined centers, which can lead us into a black hole of confusion.  -Energy boundaries and strategies for living to avoid getting lost in our undefined centers. -The limitations of relying on social media for inspiration and the addictive nature of seeking answers outside of ourselves.   -Connecting with our hearts and spirits to navigate our human experience.  -Experiment and Test! If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know! #41: The Spirit of Human Design with Human Design Teacher Brianna Anderson

Hey ya’ll, this is the first in a two part series on Human Design.   In this episode,  Brianna and I explore  Human Design, a system that helps individuals understand their unique energy types and how they can navigate life more authentically.  Brianna shares her personal journey to discovering Human Design, and how it connected her into her own self-belief. We discuss the roles of different energy types as well as defined and undefined centers and how understanding these roles can improve relationships and the way we parent.  We also chat about one of my favorite aspects of Human Design, the authority, which basically points you to how you can know YOUR inner voice of knowing.  We also spend some time addressing common misconceptions about Human Design. Interested in Learning More? Check out the show notes! Key Takeaways:  Human Design can help individuals understand their unique energy and purpose. Human Design is a blueprint for understanding yourself and others. Each energy type in Human Design has a unique role and way of operating. Projectors need to be invited to share their insights. Manifestors initiate ideas and inform others,  Generators respond to ideas, they are builders. Reflectors operate differently, needing time to process experiences and speak about what was learned. Synergy among different energy types leads to greater collaboration and success. Parenting with an understanding of Human Design allows for more ease and acceptance.  We unconsciously encourage our children to mirror our energy. Human Design reveals subconscious patterns inherited from parents. Open centers are where we receive wisdom, not energy. Authority in Human Design is about trusting your inner compass. Emotional authorities need time and space to make decisions. Human Design helps us understand our unique gifts and challenges. Synergy in the future means respecting and honoring each other's unique paths. If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know! #36 The Intimacy You're Really Looking For with Tantra Embodiment Guide Hilary Stark

Hey ya’ll, get ready for this episode!  After the edit, I sent Hilary a text that said “Girl, so much good content!”  In this episode, my guest, Hilary Stark shares her journey to becoming an absolute  embodiment  of the healing and discovery of god that can be had when we are deeply (and I mean deeply) vulnerable and willing to be seen, stark naked!  She takes us through her story of being the religious and societal outcast growing up, to her first sexual encounters as a young girl, the lessons those moments have taught her, and onward through her experience of being an escort in the sex industry.   Hilary pulls back the curtain on the sex industry, revealing a totally different perspective on the empowerment that can happen within the relationships and experiences she had.  Hilary’s reclamation journey was paved with experiences that had her looking outward for deep connection, yet ultimately leading her to find intimacy with herself. In an open and giving way, she speaks to the deepest desires we all hold.  Hilary is an intimacy facilitator and guide, using a variety of embodiment modalities to help her clients achieve intimate connection, first with themselves, then outward with others.  Key Takeaways: -Establishing safety in the body is key to discovering intimacy with ourselves and others.  -After establishing safety, being Open and Vulnerable are the next steps.  -Have open and honest communication about sex and relationships.  -Sensuality and pleasure in connection to our chakra system.  -The role of tantra in creating safe and intimate connections If you or someone you know has a story of Reclamation they would love to share, I would love to know! The Girls Discuss: Navigating Grief

Hey Reclamation Fam! This episode is all about Grief.  Packed with our personal experiences, expert info and advice, and tools for working with grief.  Malia’s favorite takeaway: Time does NOT, in fact, heal all wounds.  Tend to your emotions as they are messages of stories and experiences held within your body and energy.  They will, through time, remain…unless we do something about them.   Other Takeaways in This Episode:  Grief can take many forms, including the loss of relationships, expectations, and parts of oneself. Acknowledging and processing grief is essential for healing and moving forward. The basal ganglia plays a role in encoding feelings of closeness and reward, and grief can flood the brain and body if not properly addressed. Attachment styles can influence our reactions to grief and lead us to unhealthy ways of coping. Establishing safety within the body is crucial before addressing grief. Tools such as grief maps and completion letters can aid in the healing process. Feeling emotions as messages and allowing them to be understood and processed is essential for healing. The three C's of working with grief are choose, connect, and communicate. It is possible to move forward in life while still honoring and holding onto positive memories associated with the loss.
