Beliefs, Attachment & the Loop That Creates Identity

Why is it so hard to change who you are? Why is "letting go" so challenging?!This episode breaks down how identity is formed through beliefs, the nervous system, and subconscious patterns—and why letting go isn’t as simple as “just thinking differently.” Remember if you can learn it, you can unlearn it!!

You’re Not Lost. You’re Outgrowing Your Identity

You can feel it…Something in your life doesn’t fit the way it used to. The roles, the identity, the way you’ve always shown up…it’s not wrong... yet it’s not fully you anymore either. In this episode, we’re exploring what it actually means to go through an identity shift (a.k.a identity death) and why it can feel so unsettling, even when you’re moving toward something more aligned. This isn’t just about changing what you do. It’s about understanding how your nervous system attaches to identity for safety, belonging, and self-worth and what happens when that begins to change. We’ll move through: why identity shifts feel so intense (and why nothing is wrong with you); the connection between identity, safety, and subconscious beliefs; the grief, fear, and visibility that come with outgrowing who you’ve been; and how to begin stepping into the next version of you, without forcing or overwhelming your systemThis is a grounded, somatic conversation about becoming and learning how to stay connected to yourself as everything evolves. If you’ve been feeling lost, in-between, or like you’re outgrowing your life… You’re not broken. You’re expanding.

You Set the Intention… Now What?

Most people don’t struggle with knowing what they want. They struggle with actually following through. In this episode of The SelfCare Lab, we explore the missing link between intention and change. You’ll learn the difference between intentions and affirmations, and why affirmations can sometimes create resistance in the nervous system when they don’t feel true. We go deeper into the science of behavior change, including nervous system regulation, predictive patterns, and neuroplasticity and why real transformation doesn’t come from motivation, but from micro actions your body can safely repeat. This episode will show you how to: turn an intention into something you can actually live; use habit stacking to make change sustainable; work with your nervous system instead of against it; and build self-trust through small, consistent follow-through.If you’ve ever felt stuck between knowing and doing… this is the piece you’ve been missing. As always, if your ready to continue the conversation you can find me over on Instagram @nursecoachmegan

From Protection to Expansion: Healing Spiritual Hypervigilance

When your learning about "energy" in the spiritual world we’re taught to protect our energy. Clear. Bubble. Shield. But what if some of these practices are actually reinforcing fear in the nervous system? In this episode of The SelfCare Lab, we explore spiritual hypervigilance, when constant energetic awareness becomes subtle yet constant threat detection. Blending neuroscience, somatics, and lived experience, I break down: what hypervigilance does to the body, how protection can turn into contraction, and the shift from managing your energy… to trusting it.This isn’t about removing tools. It’s about recognizing when they’re keeping you safe, and when they’re keeping you small. Because true safety isn’t found in shielding yourself from the world. It’s built in your capacity to stay connected to yourself within it. If you enjoyed this episode please follow me to never miss an episode! Comparisonitis: Why You Feel Behind (and What Your Brain Is Actually Doing)

Comparison is everywhere: numbers, beauty, success, timelines, material possessions. But what if comparison isn’t insecurity… it’s biology? In this episode, I break down the neuroscience and psychology behind comparison, how social media amplifies it, and why it hits so deeply in the body. Then we shift into a deeper lens :what comparison reveals about identity, belonging, and self-worth, and how to work with it in a grounded, embodied way. If you’ve ever felt behind, not enough, or caught in the loop of measuring yourself against others… this episode will change how you understand it and help you REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE.

Boundaries 101: Why Knowing Isn't The Problem

Most people don’t struggle with knowing their boundaries; they struggle with holding them.In this foundational episode, we explore what boundaries actually are (and what they’re not), why they can feel so difficult to maintain, and how your nervous system plays a key role in your ability to follow through. Blending psychology, somatic awareness, and lived experience, this conversation reframes boundaries as an act of SelfCare, not control, and offers a grounded starting point for practicing them in your everyday relationships. And if your ready to carry on the conversation, meet me on IG: @nursecoachmegan

Not Every Friendship Survives Your Healing

Some relationships aren’t meant to grow with you; they were meant to meet you where you once were.In this episode, we explore the quiet, often unspoken grief of outgrowing trauma-bonded friendships. When your nervous system begins to heal, your patterns shift and the relationships built within those patterns can start to unravel.Blending lived experience, nervous system science, and grounded energetic principles, this conversation unpacks why these connections form, why they can feel so hard to release, and how healing changes what you’re available for.If you’ve ever felt guilty for choosing yourself, confused by shifting dynamics, or heartbroken by a friendship that no longer fits… this episode will help you make sense of what your body already knows.

Breaking the Perfectionism Loop: Creativity, Nervous Systems, and Messy Action

Perfectionism often looks like productivity—but beneath it is usually a nervous system trying to protect us. In this episode, I explore how the brain’s preference for familiar patterns can keep us stuck in cycles of overthinking and creative bottlenecks. Drawing from neuroscience, somatic awareness, and my own lived experience as a holistic nurse coach, I share how movement, breath, and messy action can interrupt the perfectionism loop. You’ll also learn practical strategies to build a nervous-system-friendly workday that supports creativity instead of shutting it down. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your head when you want to be creating, this conversation is for you.

Toxic Positivity: When “Be Happy” Hurts

In this episode of The SelfCare Lab, we explore the hidden harm behind toxic positivity — the pressure to “stay positive” even when life is painful. While optimism can be supportive, forcing positivity can disconnect us from our emotions, relationships, and even our nervous system.Together we explore the psychology and neuroscience behind emotional suppression, why validation is essential for healing, and simple somatic practices to reconnect with what you're truly feeling. You’ll learn:What toxic positivity actually isWhy suppressing emotions can increase stressHow validation supports nervous system safetySimple practices to shift back into emotional presence. Why Beauty Feels Unsafe (Even When You Have It)

In this episode, I explore a topic that feels both uncomfortable and deeply human: our relationship with beauty. Why does being seen feel empowering for some, and unsafe for others? Why can beauty feel like confidence in one moment, and comparison or insecurity in another?Through personal reflection and a grounded, nervous system-informed lens, we unpack the deeper layers behind attraction, self-worth, and the push–pull many of us experience when it comes to being seen. If you’ve ever felt confused by beauty, triggered by comparison, or unsure how to feel safe in your own presence, like I have, this conversation is for you.

Returning To Joy - Remembering Your Value

A conversation with April Simms about breaking old patterns, trusting the body's wisdom, and remembering that joy—and inherent worth—are still available, even in the midst of deep transformation. Mic drop affirmation: I am the value. I am valuable. Period. BOOM.

Winter, the Womb, and the Wild Woman

Life doesn’t begin in the light — it begins in the dark.In this episode of The SelfCare Lab, we explore the Winter Solstice as the womb of the year — the dark, quiet threshold where life begins organizing itself beneath the surface. Drawing from lived experience, holistic nursing, neurobiology, and ancient myth, Megan weaves together the physiology of rest, the wisdom of the nervous system, womb consciousness, and the Wild Woman archetype. Through the story of La Loba, the Bone-Gatherer from Women Who Run With the Wolves, this episode invites you to reconsider winter not as a season to endure, but as a necessary phase of integration, discernment, and preparation. The Winter Solstice marks the turning point — the return of light — and gently ushers us into the full season of winter, where rest, bone-gathering, and becoming quietly unfold. If you’re feeling restless, tender, or called inward, this conversation is a reminder that darkness is not absence — it is the place where life remembers itself.

    Tiny Shifts, Quantum Ripples

The power of one shift: how small changes create the real quantum leap. Most people think a quantum leap means a sudden, massive change — a new job, a new house, a completely different life. But the truth? The biggest transformations often happen quietly, on the inside. In this episode of The Selfcare Lab, Megan explores how subtle shifts in your thoughts, beliefs, and emotions ripple outward to reshape your entire life. We dive into the science behind small changes, including heart coherence research from the HeartMath Institute, quantum physics principles, and studies on human intention and interconnectedness. You’ll learn why interrupting a rumination loop, releasing a limiting belief, or cultivating a moment of gratitude isn’t “small” at all — it’s a micro-quantum leap that rewires your nervous system, expands perception, and shifts your field of possibility. Megan shares practical coaching tips, reflection prompts, and a guided moment to anchor your own quantum leap.Whether you’re seeking change, clarity, or a deeper connection to yourself, this episode will help you see that transformation doesn’t have to be dramatic — it begins with one intentional shift.

    Feel, Write, Shift

For years, I was afraid to face my emotions - I thought writing about them would only attract more pain, but avoiding my feelings kept me stuck in the same energetic patterns. In this episode, I share how therapy and journalling helped me move from numbness to awareness, and why feeling your emotions is the real path to alignment. We'll explore the truth about the law of attraction, emotional vibration, and how the simple act of writing can become a powerful tool for conscious healing and creation.
