Most people hear the words gangs or mafia, their minds typically go to that of Al Capone and the Chicago Outfit (aka Outfit, Chicago Mafia, or the South Side Gang.) But not everyone knows of the one that comes from right here in Michigan and was pretty infamous during the Prohibition Era. The Purple Gang! I first heard from them from a previous job, which I talk about in the podcast and why it fascinated me. Michelle and Julia got to go on a brand new adventure this weekend, attending the book convention, Dreaming Dirty in Michigan. It was an amazing new experience for them both, as it held a completely different vibe to the conventions they have gone to for cosplay. Every author with their own unique books, all of them incredibly nice and informative. The overall experience was super inspiring for them as they are plotting out their own book with the goal to one day return to again!  We highly recommend this event for anyone who enjoys supporting Indie authors, with a variety of different topics and styles! Come with me as I talk about the lesser talked about subject known as the Casket Girls. This subject first drew my attention as I was watching The Originals, the spin off of The Vampire Diaries, based in New Orleans. When I got to the episode revolving the festival, something about it really caught my attention and spoke to me, given that it's not one you typically hear about outside of New Orleans itself. Happy Halloween or a Blessed Samhain to you all!  These four stories come from Dan Asfar's "Ghost Stories of Michigan" and while not extremely scary, each has a very different supernatural vibe for the spirit of the season. I have to say that learning about the Calumet Theatre in the Upper Peninsula was one of my favorite things about this one, including that of The Blue Man. I want to jump back into this book of the stories I have heard from my fellow investigators! So many more locations added to my bucket list and hopefully next year, I'll be able to visit them. On this spooky night, we venture into Silent Hill or by its proper name, Centralia, Pennsylvania. This has been a topic that has interested me for over a decade now, a teenager fascinated and frightened by the imagery of Silent Hill, only to find out as I got older that the town was based on a real location. I was watching the videos for the city, seeing its spooky abandoned streets, the steam vents popping up out of nowhere, the eeriness of the graveyards, the residents from the mines, and the fire ever burning below. I found myself back to being that teenager, both frightened and fascinated by what the mysteries of this town holds.  We have so many exciting things coming up this week and I can't wait to tell you how they went on the next episode!
