In 1855, James Lawrence Trask died with an estate valued at over $2.6 million today. 95% of that wealth was in an extraordinary group of people he enslaved. Equal parts genealogy, history, and genetic genealogy come together to tell story of those former slaves and their descendants – the Trask 250 – and about the unique circumstances that lead to their connections to the Trask and Ventress families of Massachusetts, Louisiana, and Mississippi.
