Episode 5: LIVE at Quilliam Brothers' Teahouse - Things We Do in the Dark

Do you have insomnia? Weird dreams? Work the night shift? Believe in the paranormal? Do you see urban foxes and milkmen and the people who deliver the Metro to all the bus stations? Our final podcast of the year, recorded in front of a live audience, was on the theme 'Things We Do in the Dark' and featured a panel made up of Iqra Choudhry, Saffron Mee, Lisa Etherson and Bridget Hamilton. They discuss everything from ghost stories to sexy dreams.

Episode 4: There's No Place Like Home

When you think of home, what comes to mind? Our fourth podcast of the year looks at the universal concept that's different for everyone. "The ache for home lives in all of us, the safe place where we can go as we are and not be questioned." Maya Angelou

    Episode 3: Finding Your Voice

Malala Yousafzai said that 'when the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful.' In this episode, we explore what it means to find your voice through activism, creativity or education. Errol Kerr discusses the difficulties faced by the disabled community when they call for better representation. We catch up with stand up comedian and mental health advocate Dave Chawner before he heads off to the Edinburgh Festival. And as the World Cup draws to a close, we ask: is there actually any science behind male commentators being easier to listen to than women? (Spoiler alert: there isn't).

    Episode 2: Science and Technology

From P&G’s Innovation Centre in Newcastle to the Nissan factory in Sunderland, STEM is one of the North East’s biggest assets. But with certain tech companies in the region recently reporting gender pay gaps of almost 30%, it’s clear that there’s a whole lot to be done before we’re seeing true diversity within the industry. For our second podcast of 2018 we’ve delved a little further into science, mechanics, gaming and more - to find out what it’s really like for women and minority ethnic communities to get their foot in the door.
