The World Music Show — Interviews from the archives

For almost decades I hosted and produced a two-hour weekly world music show, for an NPR member station in Richmond Virginia and throughout the world online. And in that time, I had the opportunity to interview some amazing musicians, film makers, authors and more.So instead of letting those interviews die in the dustbin of audio history, I’ve decided to dig them up, dust them off and breathe new life into them here, on The World Music Show — Interviews from the archives — with Ian Stewart. These interviews are for the true music nerds who want to find out more about the artists they love and it’s for music nerds who want to explore artists they’ve never heard of.But first, be sure to subscribe, rate and share the show on all your social media platforms. And you can also help the show with some financial support through Venmo at Ian-Stewart-82 or at <a href="http://buymeacoffee.com/ian_stewart

They're still touring, with shows mostly in Japan. In this interview we talk about the history punk music, her influences and why she writes about yummy food so much.—---Be sure to let them know you heard this interview at their website at shonenknife.Check out Ian’s World O’ Music show on Mixcloud. Tjinder Singh of Cornershop

Kicking off this inaugural episode is my interview with Tjinder Singh of Cornershop. The band hit the charts with "Brimful of Asha" from their third album When I Was Born for the 7th Time. A remixed version of the track reached number one on the UK singles chart in 1998.When this interview first aired back in March of 2020, the band just released their ninth studio album England is a Garden on their own Ample Play Records–and because they own the label, I was given permission by Tjinder to play some of the tracks throughout this podcast. The World Music Show — Interviews from the archives — is solely produced by me, Ian Stewart.
