In this conversation I share how the YLF community first took shape in twenty sixteen, why it evolved, and how it lives today. We started as a small group that welcomed every eating style and workout plan during an online era that felt tribal. Our core message was simple. You belong here if you want to build a welcoming forever active lifestyle.Fast forward to now. Living an inside/out life means anyone who is practicing self connection is already part of the YLF community. There is no single platform or required meetup. You take the principles, apply them to your own plan, and share the wins so others see a wider path. If you reach out to a fellow listener that is your choice, not an assignment from me, yet I encourage genuine connection because a supportive partner or group can lift every goal.My role is to offer tools, resources, and structures so you can start within and build outward. Use the framework, keep what works, toss what does not, and keep telling your story. The Journaling Practice That Fits Your Life
Show LinksJoin The Daily EmailVisit The YLF BlogExplore The YLF FrameworkWork With DarylShop The YLF CollectionsWatch the Q and A PlaylistIn this episode we dive into how journaling supports your inside/out process and why it may be easier than ever to make it part of your daily routine. I share how my own journaling practice has evolved over the years, from five-minute reflection sessions to quick voice notes and entries using the Day One app. Whether you journal in the morning with a body and mood check or reflect at the end of the day, the key is getting your thoughts out of your head and onto a page or screen. We also cover the power of having a simple North Star prompt to fall back on. Start with what you’re thinking or feeling right now, then ask why. That single question helps you reconnect with yourself in real time. If you’re signed up for the Daily Email, I send a new journal prompt every day. You can use it as is or let it inspire your own direction. You’ll hear why this practice started for me by accident, what came up when I allowed the thoughts to wash over me, and how those overwhelming waves eventually became calmer. I also explain how mindfulness does not have to be complicated. It can be as simple as going for a walk without headphones or sitting outside without distractions. When you are still long enough, you start to hear things in your own voice that you have not heard in years. These moments become the building blocks of self-connection. We are diving into the original foundation of the YLF Experience and the actions I began developing as far back as 2020. From Critique to Calm Confidence

In this episode I guide you through a daily practice that helps you trade self-criticism for calm appreciation. You will learn why body standards from the early two thousands to today have trained many of us to nitpick every curve and angle, and how a simple one minute mirror session begins to change that script. We talk about picking one feature, speaking kindness into it, and forgiving yourself each time the old voice tries to drag you back.I explain why the spark of self-respect may feel forced at first, yet with steady repetition you will stand taller when you catch your reflection in glass or an unexpected photo. You will discover how this exercise links to the YLF Framework, which turns fitness into an inside/out springboard for lifelong confidence. Fitness Is the Springboard
Show LinksJoin The Daily EmailVisit The YLF BlogExplore The YLF FrameworkWork With DarylShop The YLF CollectionsWatch the Q and A PlaylistThis chat is a reminder that fitness is the springboard, not the finish line. I explain how the inside/out approach helps you connect with who you are right now, build calm confidence, and carry that strength into every corner of life. You will hear why resilience and consistency already live inside you, and how choosing confidence makes each action feel deliberate and steady.I share the moment that hooked me on coaching back in college, watching new gym members lift their heads and believe in themselves week by week. That first spark pushed me to create a simple structure that lets you feel the same shift, whether you are lifting for the first time or refining habits you have held for decades.Because I navigate cerebral palsy and the nonstop noise of online fitness, I know how overwhelming plans and programs can feel. This episode breaks that clutter apart so you can focus on calm ownership, action-focused goals, and genuine self-trust. Fitness stays in the mix for life, yet it can be the doorway to bigger things when you see it as a daily practice in self-belief.I would love to hear your thoughts. On Sunday we set realistic goals rooted in minimum daily actions and real life demands. By Wednesday we treat the week like halftime. I check in with my own progress, ask how I actually feel, and decide whether to stay the course or pivot. Some weeks I am locked in and only need a quick thumbs-up. Other times life hits hard, motivation dips, or surprises pop up. The midweek pause gives me permission to adjust targets, reclaim focus, or simply acknowledge that I am not feeling it and choose a lighter path.Saturday is the look-back. I review what happened, pull out lessons, and decide what rolls forward. When you repeat this loop week after week you build trust in yourself. Your goals become yours alone, shaped by your capabilities, your schedule, and your willingness to act. The YLF Framework wraps around every piece of content I share so you never feel lost in the noise of the fitness industry. From daily emails that deliver one actionable resource plus a journal prompt and activity, to organized blog posts and podcasts, every tool is ready for you to build an inside/out life at your own pace.I have coached for over a decade and I still see the same problem. Information overload. My job is to give you clear structure and bite-size actions so you can move on with your day. Listen in to learn exactly how to run through your goals, exceed your own expectations, and set yourself up for a forever active lifestyle. Exceeding Goals for the Week
Show LinksDaily EmailThe YLF BlogYLF FrameworkWork With DarylShop The YLF CollectionsQ & A Response YouTube PlaylistI used to set goals that looked great on paper yet felt out of reach once real life showed up. That changed when I started naming a single minimum daily action, keeping it just under what I already believed I could do, and then linking that action to a flexible weekly goal. In today’s episode I walk you through how this simple approach puts you on the fast track to exceeding every target you set.You will hear exactly how I choose my weekly number for gym visits and servings of produce, why four out of five workouts is plenty to keep momentum, and how an extra banana or a handful of spinach turns an average day into an exceeded goal. I explain the Sunday plan, Wednesday midweek adjustment, and Saturday look back that anchor the YLF Framework, so you always know where you stand and what to tweak. The magic is meeting yourself where you are, setting expectations you believe in, and watching your confidence climb each time you overshoot the mark. Exceeding goals stops feeling like a lucky break and starts feeling normal. That mindset powers bigger stretch goals without the mental tug of war. No drama. No romanticized discipline narrative. I know that goes against what most people are taught, but that’s exactly why we need to talk about it. In this episode, I walk you through how to shift from waiting for proof to deciding right now to believe in yourself. Confidence doesn’t come from checking enough boxes or proving yourself to others. It comes from within, and it is the foundation of living an inside/out life.Once you make the choice to trust yourself, your actions become a reflection of that belief. They are not the reason you believe… they are the reinforcement. That small mindset shift makes a huge difference, especially if you’ve struggled with imposter syndrome or always feeling like you’re not doing enough. You don’t need to fake it until you make it. You can decide today that you are enough and build your active lifestyle from that belief.I’m excited to share this message with you as part of the Always & Forever series. This one’s all about being Confident AF. If that’s something you’re working on, or want to own fully, I hope this episode helps you reframe how you think about your actions and identity.Let me know how this hits for you. You’re still showing up. And maybe you don’t give yourself credit for it, but you are resilient. We’re talking about what it means to set goals that are meant to be exceeded… not goals that stretch you to the edge of burnout, but ones that you can confidently knock out on a consistent basis. If you’ve ever been told to “push yourself” every single day or felt like your goals had to scare you to be valid, this episode is your reminder that sustainability beats intensity every time. Maybe the scale moves. Maybe your clothes fit better. But eventually, progress slows. And if your motivation depends on seeing daily improvement, it becomes harder to stay consistent. That’s why I suggest shifting your focus to something more flexible… looking for wins wherever they show up. Some days you may not see much. Other days, you’ll notice a handful. That’s what long-term success actually looks like.Instead of feeling defeated when things don’t move forward quickly, I want you to get curious. Look for the progress that is there. Spot those little improvements. Find opportunities to grow. And know that not every moment has to be productive or insightful to matter. When you detach from needing daily improvement, you give yourself more room to enjoy the process. If this idea resonates or challenges you, I’d love to hear from you. And while it sounds like a cliché, it’s absolutely true. But in order to follow something consistently, it has to be built around you. That’s why I encourage you to start with your preferences. What do you like to eat? How do you like to move your body? What fits into your schedule without making you feel overwhelmed? The real secret to consistency is setting up routines that either feel automatic or genuinely exciting to you. When you enjoy what you’re doing, you’re far more likely to stick with it. And the good news is, this is a skill you can build and develop over time.In this episode, I’ll walk you through how to start shaping your own personalized fitness plan using your food and exercise preferences. And I’ll show you how setting up your plan this way leads to a more flexible, resilient, and sustainable lifestyle... one that adjusts with you through different seasons of life.If you’ve been struggling with discipline or feeling like you always fall off track, this episode will help you shift your focus toward something more empowering and doable. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the main daily YLF Podcast on each of the major podcast directories. I talk about why your results are never fully within your control, but your actions and mindset always are. You’ve probably heard that focusing on the process leads to outcomes, but what’s not always emphasized is how your mindset determines how consistent those actions will be.I walk you through the idea that outcomes like weight loss are byproducts, not the point. Yes, it’s okay to have a target weight or body composition goal, but obsessing over when or how fast that happens will only lead to frustration. What you can control is how you show up each day, and the mental approach you bring to the process. We’ll be diving into the role of calmness, ownership, and daily actions. Your life is your responsibility. That means the choices, the direction, and the outcomes are yours to shape. Not in a way that should overwhelm you, but in a way that empowers you.I talk about how easy it is to feel stuck, to feel like things are out of your control, especially when it comes to health and fitness. But the truth is, most of us have more power than we give ourselves credit for. I want you to feel capable of taking action, even when things feel uncertain. I also want you to know you are not behind. You are on your own race and it’s never too late to redirect. This episode will help you see that taking ownership doesn’t mean blaming yourself for the past. It means recognizing what you can do moving forward. That’s what the inside/out process is really about. This is a short but powerful message to reset your perspective and remind you that the direction of your life is in your hands. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the main daily YLF Podcast on each of the major podcast directories. Specifically, your default mental state. If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your day-to-day or struggling to stay consistent with your eating and exercise routines, this calm, deliberate approach might be exactly what you need.I want you to be able to return to a headspace that’s steady and focused. I talk about this often as being in your “default mode” about 85 percent of the time. It’s not about moving faster or doing more. It’s about slowing things down mentally so that you can make thoughtful choices and take aligned action, not just reactive ones. This is where sustainability begins. You’ll also hear why I take a counter approach to the traditional motivational noise out there. I don’t think it’s about grinding harder or pushing through just to prove a point. I think the real work is learning how to observe your thoughts, quiet the chatter, and stay rooted in your goals without draining all of your energy. This mindset applies to your workouts, your food choices, and your everyday life. When you can approach things with calm intention, your decisions feel less forced and your progress becomes more consistent. You’re not just copying someone else’s routine. You’re creating your own direction. If you’ve ever felt stuck in your own head, unsure of what to do next or why your results seem to stall out, this episode will give you the shift you’ve been looking for. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the main daily YLF Podcast on each of the major podcast directories. Instead of trying to fit yourself into someone else’s program, you build your own, starting with the activities you like.I share my personal journey with exercise, including how I got into lifting weights at a young age because of cerebral palsy and how that foundation has stuck with me over the years. I also talk about how stretching, cardio, and walking have evolved in my routine and how changes in life stages will naturally shift how you move your body. This episode is a reminder that it’s not about doing the most intense workout. It’s about doing what works for you, consistently, and in a way that supports your long-term lifestyle. Whether you’re starting on the floor, in bed, or walking a few minutes at a time, it counts. And if you build your foundation around preferences, exercise becomes something you look forward to.Let this be your permission to create a flexible, evolving plan that is truly yours. This is your personal framework for how you eat, and it’s built entirely around your preferences, your routines, and what you’re willing and able to do right now. We’re not talking about a strict meal plan or a list of good and bad foods. We’re talking about an eating plan that fits your life now and adapts with you as life changes. I explain how to observe your current food choices, how to approach “trigger foods,” and why nothing is actually off limits. The goal is to take ownership, define your own parameters, and build something sustainable.Whether you’re taking a break from dieting, just getting started, or finally ready to make peace with your food choices, this is the foundation for doing it your way. If you’ve been on your fitness journey for years or decades, you know your body, your preferences, and your life better than anyone. So why should someone who doesn’t live your day-to-day tell you exactly how to live it?I want you to see yourself as the expert of your own life. You’ve got the experience. You’ve built a foundation. Whether you’ve followed programs in the past or not, you’re the one with the real-world knowledge of what works for you. That’s why I’m always reminding people to tune out the noise from influencers who position themselves as the expert of your life. You don’t need that. You need guidance and collaboration... not control. If you’re new to the inside/out approach, this episode is a great entry point. It’s about owning your path and recognizing that even if you decide to work with someone like me, you’re still the architect. I can help add context and tools, but the direction comes from you.We also talk about how control and responsibility play a major role in sustainable fitness and life transformation. Once you start seeing yourself as the one in charge, you’ll find ways to handle the tough stuff... and stop stressing over what’s out of your hands. You’ll hear some tangents in this one too. That’s part of how I process things and connect ideas. If you like that vibe, you’ll love The Your Level Fitness Podcast as well. Thanks for listening. If you’re new to the Your Level Fitness message or just getting reconnected, this episode is the perfect place to start. I’m diving into one of the most important parts of the inside/out process… how we view our bodies. You’ll hear why becoming your own body image and body standard is the foundation of real change and how shifting from judgment to acceptance can completely reframe your journey. We’ll talk about why acceptance is just the beginning, how to build self-respect and appreciation from the ground up, and how daily actions like journaling, mirror work, and talking to yourself with kindness can change the way you feel about who you are. I’ll also walk you through why everyone’s body is different, even at the same height and weight, and how that truth helps you opt out of harmful comparison traps. This is the start of a bigger conversation we’ll continue in future episodes. For now, know this… your body is not a problem to be fixed. It is a life to be lived in. We live in a time where resources, downloads, and tips are everywhere… but without structure and application, all of that content just becomes noise. This framework is how you filter that noise and start doing what actually works.I created the YLF Framework initially for tracking goals in health and fitness, but what’s powerful is that it works just as well for personal development, mindset growth, and other life goals. You can even use it alongside another coach or program if their goal-tracking methods aren’t clicking for you. The whole idea is to have something flexible and actionable that moves you forward in your own way. You’ll also hear why I’m focusing on a couple of tactical episodes here. I want to balance mindset discussions with tools that drive actual results. It’s great to talk about perspective and motivation, but without action, change doesn’t happen. So whether you’re brand new to this message or returning after a break, this is a great time to plug into the structure that can help you build something sustainable for life.As always, if you have questions or thoughts, email me at [email protected]. This is how you create a forever active lifestyle you’ll actually want to live.I also share how I’ve built out self-paced resources to help you show up daily and reinforce your beliefs without feeling like you have to consume endless content. I talk about how to find these resources across YouTube, the blog, social media, the daily email, and more. You’ll hear why I make the same materials available to everyone, not just clients, and how I want this to be a movement for those who are ready to change the way they relate to their body, food, and fitness. This episode is your starting point for understanding how to create your own plan and get grounded in a message that reminds you every day… your body is enough, and you are enough. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the main daily YLF Podcast on each of the major podcast directories. Instead of waiting for results to prove you’re “good enough,” you start by deciding who you are and then take action from that belief. This is a major part of the inside/out approach I teach, and it helps you break free from the imposter syndrome cycle that so many of us get stuck in.You’ll hear me challenge the traditional approach of doing more to become someone, and instead offer you a mindset that starts with self-trust and identity. You’ve likely already had some success in fitness and in life, and I want to help you build a sustainable path that feels supportive, honest, and fulfilling. You’ll learn how to break out of the mental prison that keeps you doubting yourself, and how to shift from acting scared to acting from belief. If you’ve ever thought, “I’ll finally feel confident when I lose the weight,” this episode will help you flip that story. You’ve probably been told that changing your appearance is the key to feeling like you’re enough. I’ve been there too. Whether it was early messages I received because of having cerebral palsy or what I later saw professionally in the fitness and marketing industries, I realized most of us are taught to change from the outside in.But that mindset keeps us stuck. Instead, I want to help you build from within. This means creating a life where your eating, movement, and daily habits are based on your preferences. It also means redefining how you see yourself in the mirror and working on the mindset that drives your actions. We’ll go deeper into how to build your foundation of self-acceptance and how to maintain it, how to stop chasing validation from others, and how to turn this process into something you actually enjoy doing... not just something you feel like you should do.This is the start of a series that will challenge what you’ve been told about your body and help you move forward with intention. Please share this episode with anyone you think would be interested in listening to it.Visit https://yourlevelfitness.com/podcast for links to the main daily YLF Podcast on each of the major podcast directories.
