Rajaa, from rural areas of Hama, has endured 11 years of her husband's detention. Initially, she received heartbreaking news of his demise post-arrest. Yet, after a subsequent period and the release of one of his relatives from prison, it was revealed that he was still alive. Today, Rajaa remains in the dark about her husband's whereabouts, grappling with numerous legal challenges that significantly impact both her life and that of her children. Um Khalil is a Syrian woman from Eastern Ghouta, forcibly displaced with her family to northern Syria. In addition to the agony of displacement, Um Khalil suffers from her inability to sell anything from her possessions as the government has taken control of them.

Due to her father's absence, she encountered challenges in formalizing her marriage within the official departments of the state.
