    F1 Games: Part 2

Time Extend Revo continues its exploration of decades' worth of Formula 1 video games, starting with the Nintendo 64 and taking it through the Xbox 360 and PS3 era. By the end, it's pretty clear that the boys have a couple favorites—and of course, that the honorable mention will forever go to F1 Race Stars. Songs ordered by appearance: "Main Menu" from Formula One 2001, "Track Select" from Grand Prix Challenge, "Congratulations" from F1 Super Lap, and a cover of T-Square's "Truth" from F1 Grand Prix Part III. F1 Games: Part 1

For as long as there have been racing games, there have basically been Formula 1 games. This episode, Adam, Andrew, and Paul explore about 20 years of digital representations of the pinnacle of motorsport, from the early days of Pole Position to the sport's first forays into polygons. We don't cover literally every game, but we talk about an awful lot of them. Join us later for Part 2, where we pick up where we left off here, with the N64. Songs ordered by appearance: "Hockenheim" from F1 Challenge, "Results" from Virtua Racing FlatOut, and "Car Select" from Grand Prix Challenge. Screamer

Two years after a surprise debut at The Game Awards, Milestone's anime-inspired reenvisioning of Screamer is here, and the boys each feel some different type of way about it. A narrative-heavy arcade racer oozing ambition with a cohesive art style and unique gameplay, it's the kind of game we at Time Extend always love to support, even if its story is at times nonsensical, and even if it carries a hard learning curve. Will it eventually go down as a classic, or burn up like a shooting star? Songs ordered by appearance: "BonBomb" by Hex Archive, "Arcade" by VGR, and "Can You Keep Up?" by Hex Archive, all from Screamer. MRC Revisited + Racing on the Analogue 3D

Somehow, Genki's Multi Racing Championship has wound up on Time Extend's Mount Rushmore of racing games, and the boys try to once and for all unpack whether or not it's actually a good game. What follows is a random discussion of N64 racers via the Analogue 3D before multiple gaming-related topics that have nothing at all to do with virtually driving cars. We weren't planning for this to be the return of the Free Practice episodes of old, but that's pretty much what happened. Inventing Our Own Racing Games: A TXR Special

If the hosts of Time Extend Revo could design their own racing games, what would they dream up? This is precisely the question asked and answered in this latest special from the mind of Brendan Rorrison, as the boys pitch projects in a round-robin format, drawing upon games of all genres to sell their ideas. From cross-country rallies to good old-fashioned touring car racing and cars that grind, the results are all over the map, with a few surprising similarities. Here's a link to the spreadsheet that lists out all the components of each game concept. (Beware, obvious spoilers if you haven't listened yet!) One-Make Racing Games

From Automobili Lamborghini to Volvo: Drive for Life, there's a long history of racing games based entirely around a single automaker's products—and in some cases, individual cars. Yeah, plenty of them are forgettable, and some are cynical, bargain-bin cash grabs attempting to lure unsuspecting customers to pay to be advertised to, but there have been a few surprising gems over the years. We run through a whole lot of them in this episode, quality be damned. Excitebikes, Trucks & Bots

Our first episode back from our 2025 hiatus explores Nintendo's classic arcade racing series all about boosting and big air. What else could you really say links 1984's Excitebike with its N64 sequel, Excite Truck, and especially Excite Bots on the Wii? In any case, they all certainly bring the excitement, and we'll proudly throw this one on the pile of forgotten racing franchises that Nintendo ought to revisit. Probably not before a proper, new mainline F-Zero and Wave Race, though. Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2025

We're now some weeks removed from Tokyo Xtreme Racer's successful Steam Early Access launch, but we couldn't just move on without chatting about the game, so that's what this episode is all about. Andrew, Paul, and Adam caught up on what they loved (pretty much everything), what they'd want to see addressed as development continues (really just menu navigation), and the simple joy of revisiting the quirks that made this franchise so great in the first place, in a brand-new title. RalliSport Challenge

Of the many beloved rally games that don't get made anymore, one short-lived series has a habit of getting overlooked. But if you had an Xbox way back when, you knew how special—and how ahead of its time—Rallisport Challenge was. Time Extend finally gives DICE's classics their due in this episode, just after some quick-and-dirty impressions on the new Tokyo Xtreme Racer (spoiler: it's great) and before Andrew accidentally wins a sealed copy of a game nobody remembers for a penny on Yahoo Auctions Japan. What game? You'll have to listen to find out! Desert Island Memory Stick Pro Duo: A TXR Special

Picture it: You're deserted on a tropical island. No idea how you got there, no idea what you'll do, but then you see it: a PSP with five driving/racing games of your choosing on its proprietary storage media. What would you hope to see on that system? That's exactly the question Adam, Andrew, Brend, and Paul answer in this episode. Considering the PSP's all-star library of quality racers, you can be sure no two hosts' picks are the same! Snowboarding Games

Snowboarding was weirdly big in the '90s, wasn't it? The boys pay tribute to this forgotten genre by covering the most—and least—memorable titles that involve that most extreme of extreme sports, from the ones you know like SSX and Amped to oddities like Steep Slope Sliders and Evolution Snowboarding. Technically, we don't talk about every snowboarding game in this almost two-hour pod, but this one might just set a Time Extend record for the number of different games discussed. Even Final Fantasy VII gets a passing mention! Running Games

The whole Time Extend Revo crew—Adam, Brend, Andrew, and Paul—join forces to talk about the weird and very occasionally wonderful things that happen when games focus entirely around putting one foot in front of the other. From Sonic R to Mirror's Edge, this one's all about the surprising gameplay challenge of trying to steer fast-moving bipedal characters.
