Trying Matters

Hey, Welcome to Trying Matters!I started this podcast in March of 2024 with the intention to inspire women to be their authentic selves and go after their big dreams. Along the way, I was a true testament to the title and premise of this podcast, Trying Matters. I explored many avenues of my career, which took me away from going all-in on this podcast and community building journey. Well, as of January 2026, I’m giving it another go! If you’ve found this podcast, you’re in for your own ride, right alongside me, as I explore where life is taking me; career pivots, everyday life struggles, and girl talk are what you’ll be hearing! My goal is still to create community through this podcast by encouraging you to push the limits and try the scary things you’ve been wanting to try through modeling that it’s possible in my own life. It’ll all be recorded right here on Trying Matters for you to listen to at any time. I hope you love it, the old and the new! Let’s freaking go girls!!<

The Lowest Lows Make For The Highest Highs

Y'all, I have had this realization this week that my confidence has disappeared...and I didn't even realize it! Okay, so I kind of felt it dwindling, but this past week, the week of my 29th birthday, I realized that the confidence I worked so hard to build over the past few years has slowly been slipping away. How did I realize this you ask? Through a series of sad days and a really low moment that same week. Those moments lead me to realize that sometimes, we need those low moments to bring us back into our best versions of ourselves. So if you're struggling with confidence right now or just need a relatable pep talk, here ya go!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, give it a rating and review! I'M BACK! And The Crossroad Is Where I've Been

I’m back! Boy have I missed this podcast! There’s been so much going on since I last recorded. I had to explain what’s been going on, and of course the lessons learned. This episode is about being at a crossroad, knowing when to stick it out versus when it’s time to go. That’s where I've been for the past 2-3 months. Decision making is not my favorite thing. I’m sure you can agree that it is not always easy, so listen to this when you’re feeling like you need some help continuing or calling it off. And don’t forget, you got this!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, give it a rating and review! Advice Is Not A One Size Fits All

How many times have you heard someone else talk about the “thing that changed their life forever,” tried it yourself, and realized it wasn’t for you? Here’s the thing, I totally realize that this podcast is exactly that! But, the part that I really want everyone to understand is, we all come from different backgrounds, lifestyles, values, and upbringings. Our stories make us all unique, which, as you know is something we pride ourselves in here on the Trying Matters Podcast. But, how often are we trying to fit ourselves into the molds of what someone else had success with? Of course, I always encourage trying new things and seeing how those things work for us in the current season of life we are in, but that does not mean that the proposed solution by another is the end all be all! This episode is a reminder to grow and change, to try new things, and to learn from others' experiences, but to always remember to take stories from others with a grain of salt. This episode is about remembering that there is no “secret sauce” that will work for everyone in the exact same way. This episode is here to remind you to keep yourself individualized and do what works best for you! Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, give it a rating and review! Why I Left Social Media and What Life Has Been Like Since

Thinking about leaving the social media world? This episode is for you! Honestly, even if you haven’t been thinking about leaving social media platforms, this episode is about creating an awareness of your relationship with social media and the impact it has on your life. If you’ve been trying to chat with me via Instagram or Facebook and you’re wondering why I haven’t gotten back to you, this episode explains why! I’ve been off both platforms for 2 months, and there have definitely been some realizations. Now, I’m not saying everyone should eliminate social media from their lives, but this episode is all about paying attention to your habits, feelings, and purpose in relation to social media. I hope you love it and learn something new!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, give it a rating and review! Going through a transition period? Over committing? This is for YOU!

Heads up! This one is a REAL, real talk! Lately, both so many people in my life and I have been facing the challenge of "major change" and "transition period" in our lives. Realizing our new realities, the new season of our lives, and accepting the changes that are actively occurring around us, that are out of our control are causing some difficulty. Honestly, it’s really difficult to accept change, and it’s even harder to pivot when what used to work is no longer working. The other thing that I’ve been hearing and experiencing is the issue of overcommitting and the chaos that comes with it. When we say yes to one thing, we are saying no to another. Couple the many yeses with unaccepted change/reality you get a whole lot of self-doubt, exhaustion, and frustration! This episode digs into those concepts and what we can do to face those challenges. Hope you love it!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, share it on socials and tag me @dadams625 so we can connect! Girl, just go!

Girl, just go!...On the trip, to the girls night, to the family holiday party! Y’all, having meaningful connections and relationships are what makes life fulfilling and fun! How many times have you said “no” to a fun time with people you enjoy being with because of logistics, made up stories about what you THINK will happen, or even because you’re afraid of what uncomfy thing MAY occur with that person you haven’t seen in forever? I know I have been guilty of all of these, so in this episode, we’re talking about the obstacles and giving the reasons why and how to go ahead and go do the fun things with the people you enjoy being around! Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, share it on socials and tag me @dadams625 so we can connect! It's Time To Pivot!

Y'all, here we go! Trying Matters's first major PIVOT! As you all know, I don't believe in doing things because we "should" or because someone else thinks what we do is a good idea. I have been in, what I feel, is the first major transitional phase of the podcast. I started this podcast as a hobby, which I hoped would turn into an entrepreneurial endeavor; however, as you'll hear in today's episode, my focus has now changed! What worked for me in the beginning, is no longer working. Today, I'm talking about how to keep focused on your priorities by changing up how you attack the plan of action to stay aligned with your purpose and passion for the things you are doing in life. Y'all know I always speak the truth about the realities of my life in hopes that you can learn from my experiences or for you to be right there alongside me as we figure life out together. This episode is 100% one of those episodes! I hope you love it and continue on this journey with me as I change things up with the pod!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, share it on socials and tag me @dadams625 so we can connect! Jealousy

Today we are talking about jealousy! Just like Nick Jonas said, “I still get jealous,” but the part he did not tell us about is how to use jealousy as a tool rather than an uncomfortable feeling! Why do we get jealous? How can we use it to benefit us? What part of the story may we be missing when we feel jealousy come on? The grass is always greener on the other side, unless we learn the realities of the highlight reel that may be triggering our jealousy. This episode is short and sweet and dives into these ideas and questions, so give it a quick lil listen! Hope you love it!Support the show

People Pleasing: I Didn't Realize I was Doing It!

Today our topic is “people pleasing”! I totally believed that I was not someone who partook in the art of “people pleasing”; however, I have recently come to learn that some of the misery I experience is self-inflicted through people pleasing tendencies. We hear it all the time “Don’t be a pushover” or “I’m a people pleaser,” and so on. But why are we doing this? How do we stop doing this? How do we recognize when we are doing this? In this episode, I am telling you about my learning moment and giving you steps to help identify and stop “people pleasing.” We need to start being honest and true to who we are and what our priorities are in life; that’s the key to loving our lives and not feeling so much dang guilt and anxiety! But, don’t worry, I explain all of that and more in this episode! I hope it’s super helpful to you, and I can’t wait to hear what you think!Don't forget to follow/subscribe to the show so you don't miss an episode, and of course, if you love it, share it on socials and tag me @dadams625 so we can connect! Taking A Pause: The Reason Why I Did Not Publish An Episode Last Week

As you all know, this podcast is a real talk, no BS podcast. The purpose of this podcast is to learn how to listen to ourselves and go after what truly lights us up and tune out the noise of what the world around us says. Last week, I decided not to record and publish an episode. In this week’s episode, I'm opening up about why I reluctantly decided to take a pause from the podcast for a week. As always, I'm super open and honest about the challenges, fears, and internal self talk surrounding my decision to hold off for a week. If you’re indecisive, feel like you’re hard on yourself, or have a difficult time balancing the many roles you hold as a woman, this episode is for you! Episode 25!! We’re continuing the mini series of “Doing More of What We Love Challenge.” After 1 week of doing more of what I love and implementing more mindfulness, I’m beginning to learn more about myself and some true gems from focusing on the fun/good. Once upon a time, I had confidence like no other! My confidence dwindled, slowly due to a bad relationship, and getting it back definitely was not an easy task. In this episode, I'm telling my story of how I gained my confidence back after allowing negative self-talk and the influence of others to impact how I viewed myself. When you thought it would be easy, but it isn't...

Episode 20!! Wow I’m excited, and I hope y’all are too. So today, we are talking about how sometimes the best decisions are not easy. I feel that in life today, we are told, if it’s too hard to do something, we don’t have to go through with it; however, is that truly the best way to go about our lives? I’ve had countless experiences, as I'm sure you have as well, that have taught me that the best pathway forward is not the easy pathway. We often lean into our feelings to guide us and then we’re left in a similar spot to the one we may have been trying to grow from or get out of. Hard work does pay off, and easy is almost a myth in real life. In this episode, I'm giving you real life examples of when the easy isn’t the best option and why the tough experience is the better choice. Also, ladies, I'm touching on my newly initiated journey to getting off of oral birth control; why I chose to, what research has told me to prepare for, and some of the struggles I've already experienced with making the decision to ditch the artificial hormones. Think of this as an educational opportunity and a relatable story through the lens of my experience. Turning Tough Moments Into An Exciting Future

You guys, it’s interview time!! Today we are chatting with my bestie, Tay! She has been a pediatric nurse since 2017, in which she has traveled the country and won awards for being one of the best in her field. If you are someone who is in a transition period, going through a tough time, or just need some real life girl talk about things like career changes and dating in 2024, this episode is 100% for you! Priorities, goal setting, and being present where your feet are

This episode is a follow up from last week's episode. In episode 17, I talked about not knowing the direction I want my future to go in and determining what is the best idea or thought for the present moment. In today's episode, I'm digging deeper into the Big Vision, teaching you how to make S.M.A.R.T. goals, and focusing on your deeply rooted priorities. I discuss the benefits of knowing and understanding your current priorities versus your big dreams for the future and the ways to prioritize the here and now to both prepare for the future while keeping you present in the season you're in now. TWENTY-EIGHT and what does the future hold??

This episode is short and sweet. 28 years on this planet, and I of course had a few realizations that came with the birthday 😂I know it can’t just be me that feels like I have to have my entire future planned out! My birthday reminded me, not only of the value I find in being with “my people,” but it also reminded me of their perspective of me and how it can be helpful to my growth. This episode tracks my thought process from “I’m a year older, what is my future going to be like,” to “How do I set more specific goals before I can wholeheartedly take steps toward my true goals and desires for my future?” I get into accepting change and finding ways to make little changes, rather than always having the “million dollar idea.” My whole life is not figured out, and yours doesn’t need to be either! OOOO GIRL! This episode is that fire you've been needing! Judging by the title, I know it may not seem like a "GET PUMPED" episode, but lemme tell ya, it DEFINITELY IS! We all experience that downward spiral that has us feeling upset, defeated, or just straight up chaotic! In this episode, we're talking about why we experience the spiral, ways to get through it, and how to use it to our advantage. We're talking about our goals and truly digging into the excuses we make versus the actual obstacles that we face in the state of the spiral. Last week I told you to grab your glass of wine; this week, grab your shot glass and some tequila! We're getting really real again, but in a GET THAT SHIT DONE type of way!Quote from Amoila Cesar: “Just ‘cause you’re tired doesn’t mean you quit, right? Keep Going! You never quit; this is a marathon, not a sprint. We don’t have to get a homerun today, right? Slow down, but don’t quit. Take a break, but don’t quit. Reassess, but don’t quit. Keep going, but don’t quit.”Support the show

ABOUT THIS SHOW
