21. Emotional Rollercoasters with Robyn Egloff
Robyn Egloff was born with a strong work ethic, but she had to learn to ask for help. Her graphic design career began at a traditional ad agency, an experience full of highs and lows. She loved the camaraderie and creativity. But 3 A.M. press checks for dog food bags? Woof. When her first child arrived, she pared down. By kiddo #3, agency life was untenable. “Staying home with kids had always looked harder than going to work.” But financially, it made more sense. She tried the full-time-mom-thing but felt…incomplete. The feeling spurred her into the world of freelance design. After a few years, she Co-Founded The Nest Collective, a boutique virtual agency, with two friends. In this episode, Robyn gets real about the emotional rollercoasters of business ownership, motherhood, and getting sued for work that was “too good.” For more inspiration, subscribe to Unbound Turnarounds on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts! 20. Working Through Depression with Tori Pintar
She found freedom when she stopped trying to "fix" depression. Tori Pintar knows a thing or two about viewing life through different lenses. A photographer by trade, and a marketer by choice, she's come a long way from her point-and-shoot days. Her business is all about capturing everyday people in raw moments. Luckily for us, she shares some of her rawest moments in return. Depression has ebbed and flowed through Tori's life for twenty years. Whenever it reappears, it's met by a version of her who is wiser, more compassionate, and better equipped to move through it. Even when the will to participate in life wanes, she knows joy will return—and she has her toolkit at the ready. "I want to get 'Go Outside' tattooed on my arm." It helps, as does reawakening her senses through cooking. Depression has boosted her endurance in many ways, even more so than the marathon training that helps her reach the other side. In this episode, Tori shares how she learned (and keeps learning) to show herself grace. She also speaks openly about her past struggles with orthorexia and the intuitive eating practices that helped her reharvest time and energy for things that truly bring her joy. Like bringing her neighbors homemade sourdough baguettes in her pjs on a snowy Christmas morning. 19. Mind Your Business with Vera llnyckyj
“Who do I want to be in this situation?” It’s a question life coach Vera Ilnyckyj asks herself—and her clients—daily. After two decades in the corporate and nonprofit marketing worlds, she knew it was time to give more of her authentic self to the world. That meant becoming a full-time coach focused on helping mid-life women grow through divorce and job loss. Leave it to Vera to turn her own struggles into a beautiful service for others. She’s experienced divorce and job loss… simultaneously. It was the catalyst for a mindset shift she now teaches others. “It’s not about what life does to us. It’s about what life does for us.” #micdrop In this episode, Vera shares why we need to delete “should” from our vocabulary, respond instead of react, and create everyday restorative rituals. (Sure it can be about coffee!) She also shares how she learned to create space to hear her quiet inner voice and all it had to say about self-trust. 18. Nourishing Work with Heidi Williams
Nutrition means listening to your body—really listening. Heidi Williams believes all foods fit into your diet, and she would know. As a Registered Dietitian, Sports Dietitian, and NSCA Certified Personal Trainer, she’s passionate about transforming our relationship with food and our bodies. “Weight loss isn’t the answer to happiness. There’s so much more to life.” Unfortunately, women entrepreneurs often feel surrounded by diet culture and body shaming. Managing a business is hard enough without constantly counting calories, cutting out comfort foods, or running on the hamster wheel (err, treadmill). Whether you’re dealing with fatigue, stress, or simply forgetting to eat between meetings, prioritizing nutrition can fill your days with more energy, focus, and joy. And who doesn’t want to fill up on joy?! In this episode, Heidi shifts our collective perspective around weight, nutrition, and fitness. She reveals how nutrition (and movement) can actually make you a better business owner. Plus, she explains why nine out of ten times, women aren’t eating ENOUGH food. “You don’t need to ‘love’ your body, but maybe don’t hate it so much.” Amen to that. 17. Making it Sacred with Tiffany Grimm Fulton
Your best self lives at the intersection of science and wisdom. She’ll draw you a map. Tiffany Grimm Fulton is known for her infectious energy, insatiable curiosity, and knack for connecting the dots. When she earned a degree in Sports Medicine, it was in pursuit of a clear goal: become a kickass team doctor. She was driven, passionate, and powered by her self-proclaimed “push mentality.” The only issue was that her dream job didn’t feel quite as dreamy after graduation. After a few detours (ask her about cocktail waitressing), she booked a one-way ticket to South America. Perhaps this trip would point her compass in the right direction. Wish granted! Tiff studied Eastern medicine, energy work, spirituality… and herself. She learned to bridge Eastern and Western philosophies. Her fire got lit—and never went out. Hear how her business helps fulfill her highest purpose. Learn when to lean in or lean back. Find out how to trust BIG and stress less. 16. Living + Leading in Alignment with Dr. Karen Quinn
She had confidence in her skills, just not in herself. Chiropractor Dr. Karen Quinn (aka “Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman” in Nicole’s brain) doesn’t do all or nothing—not anymore. It’s one of the lessons she’s learned building her own practice, her way. Like most women business owners, she struggled, doubted, and waited tables in a kilt to make ends meet. Over time, though, she learned to trust in her voice. She noticed how decisions felt in her body. She redefined “success” and stopped equating net worth with self worth. The result? A business that feels authentically aligned with her values and healing philosophy. Learn how Karen helps women realign their bodies (and minds) through gentle chiropractic care and deep conversations. 15. Become an Epicenter of Resilience with Lorca Smetana
Sit next to her on a plane, ask what she does, and she’ll say “I grow resilience in people.” Lorca Smetana has learned how to be with hard things beautifully—but that wisdom came at a cost. After surviving the Mt. Hood climbing tragedy at sixteen, she quickly realized ‘security’ doesn’t exist. Life is unpredictable, and our only real choice is how we show up in the face of uncertainty. As a Resilience Coach, she acts as a ‘wilderness guide to the self’ for those who crave deeper confidence, peace, and self-trust. She teaches how to heal what hasn’t happened yet. She cultivates healthy emotional ecosystems. She reveals the path to joy independent of circumstance. Some clients find solace at Lorca’s Montana farm, where she raises Icelandic sheep and white homing pigeons. Others collaborate virtually as they learn about supported risk, shedding emotional armor, and identifying “the problems they do want.” Hear how Lorca intertwines resilience and entrepreneurship in her own life and why her purpose in the world is NOT to create the perfect business. 14. Sleepless Nights and "Stresslings" with Mallory Underwood
She’s like a gentle chiropractor for your soul, except you get to feel better for free. Mallory Underwood loves talking about wellness, and this episode reveals why. From youth team sports to pre-kids beach volleyball, yoga teacher training to endurance fundraisers, fitness has always been a sure-fire way to nourish her soul. What she didn’t realize was how quickly her active lifestyle could evaporate. After weaning her first son, Mallory suffered from debilitating insomnia for nearly a year. A hormone imbalance turned out to be the culprit, but a fierce urge to protect her sleep persists to this day. “Reclaiming your sleep is the ultimate expression of self-care.” But that’s a tall order when you share a home with two kids, a husband, and a duo of nocturnal hamsters. Even once she found a home-based workout rhythm, largely centered around riding her Peloton bike, it wasn’t smooth sailing. Acute back pain flared out of the blue, forcing her to recalibrate her wellness routine yet again. Biking made it worse. So did sitting at a desk. As did…well, pretty much everything. In this episode, Business Unbound’s Co-Founder shares how she assembled the support team her body (and mind) needed—all while combating a chronic case of people-pleasing and perfectionism. 13. The Art of Taking it on the Chin with Nicole Ross
Ponies, punches, and panic attacks—just your typical cowgirl kickboxer’s wellness journey. Nicole Ross can’t remember the last time she worked out in a traditional gym. Perhaps… never? Her approach to physical fitness has always been simple: do whatever you (genuinely) like. Period. Instead of heart-pumping runs, she opted for heartwarming days brushing and riding horses—more of a workout than people think btw. Being an equestrian wasn’t about weight loss, strength training, or attracting likes on social media (which didn’t exist yet, praise be). It was pure. Fast forward to corporate life when physical and mental wellness were replaced by long hours at the office and grad school. Then she gloved up for her first Muay Thai Kickboxing class and was… hooked. (Please laugh.) Fighting lit her up inside in ways only horses had—until panic attacked. In this episode, Business Unbound’s Co-Founder reflects on being knocked down—but not out—by anxiety, burnout, and online dating as a 40-something. (Spoiler alert: it sucks.) Now, though, with freedom over her schedule, affirmation cards everywhere, and the right people in her corner, she’s finally back in the fight. 12. Pacing Yourself with Abby Nieten
Inside a musty utility closet, dubbed the ‘pumping room’ for office mothers, Abby fought back tears. She’d saved up three weeks of PTO to stay home with her new baby. She’d finagled a special paycheck schedule to continue covering her health insurance premiums. And she didn’t get a single day of paid maternity leave. The “American Dream” felt anything but dreamy. Abby Nieten, Founder of Shining Waters Editorial, knows what it’s like to feel pulled in every direction. Every working mom does. “I could be a good mother, or a good employee—but not both.” Work made parenting more stressful. Parenting made work more stressful. Rinse and repeat as child number two and three eventually came along. Though she loved her colleagues, the tech sector was overbrimming with ‘false urgency.’ It felt forever frantic, as they were asked to do everything faster. Software was designed to be ‘always on.’ Humans were not. Was this the pace she wanted for her life? When her company downsized 40%, and her entire team was eliminated, Abby was shell shocked at the framing: “It’s not personal—it’s just math.” When did people become nothing more than the subtraction part of a math problem? Six months into full-time freelancing, Abby is grateful to be off the hamster wheel. (She’s actually getting a lunch break!) With the right people in her corner, and trust in herself, she can’t wait to see what’s ahead. 11. The Accidental Entrepreneur with Jen Ribble
She’s not saying getting laid off is a good thing. But she’s not not saying it either. Jen Ribble, Founder of Jen Ribble Writes, never planned to be her own boss. (Like, ever.) After all, she’d spent decades building her corporate resume and network of emotional support humans. She was good at her craft, comfortable, and well compensated. Until she wasn’t. In January of 2020, out of the blue, Jen was laid off from her tech marketing job. With a cardboard box of belongings under one arm, she sent a text to a small group of friends as she left the office. “Please send writing projects my way until I figure out what to do next.” Learn how her network stepped up, so much so that she turned down a “perfect job offer” sixty days later to pursue freelance full time. And it turned out that many of the requirements she had accepted about how work works were actually optional—like commuting and meetings before 11 a.m. During a self-imposed year-long trial period, Jen discovered she could also earn more while working less. She noticed her stress level was at an all-time low. She had control over her own reality for the first time in her professional career. “I was able to keep doing good work without all the garbage.” With corporate life permanently in the rearview mirror, and retirement on the horizon, Jen proves it’s never too late to accidentally embrace entrepreneurship. 10. Low-risk, high-reward business with Sarah Cauble
She’s a proud mother of two—a young daughter and a boutique web design business. Sarah Cauble is a self-proclaimed work-from-homebody, but her favorite title will always be “Mom.” It only took three months interning in the corporate world to realize that life wasn’t for her… and never would be. While entrepreneurship feels risky to many, she thought, “What do I have to lose? I can always apply for a job if it doesn’t work out.” More than a decade later, it’s safe to say things are working out just fine, thank you very much. In this episode, Sarah shares how her desire for family, flexibility, and financial simplicity helped her create a company that works around her life—not the other way around. Rapid growth? Heck no. Managing a team? No need. Complex systems? Hard pass. “I have no ambition to grow,” she says without a hint of apology. Learn how she built a low-risk business that put family first—and how those motivations are evolving as her daughter heads off to Kindergarten. Come feast or famine, Sarah’s story underscores the importance of being intentional and surrounding yourself with people who always have your back. And when that isn’t quite enough, motivating mantras, a good cry, and a cup of green tea just might do the trick! 9. Enjoying the Ride with Carolyn Williams
If she didn’t do it, someone else would. Carolyn Williams, Founder of Zephyr Cycling Studio, hadn’t known the destination—she just kept taking the next right step. After graduating with an English Major and Music Minor, Carolyn moved to New York City to work… not in English or Music. She soaked up lessons in professionalism, project management, and marketing that her future self would need. But her soul wanted more. She found it at her first rhythm-based cycling class. The music, the movement, the people— that magical combination lit her up from inside. “I finally understood what it was to be passionate about something,” she says. When life presented an opportunity to move home to Montana, she took that next right step. Every time she drove up the canyon to Bozeman, though, something nibbled at her soul. The town didn’t have a cycling studio, and her heart needed one to exist. So she built a welcoming, warm, pristine space that raises students’ heart rates—while lowering their blood pressures. And, she centered the business around community (and dogs) from day one. When COVID hit, that community stepped up in ways Carolyn never could’ve imagined. Together, they fought to keep moving—together. For more inspiration, subscribe to Unbound Turnarounds on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts! 8. Betting on Yourself with Rachel Downey
She’s most proud of not quitting. But she certainly considered it. Rachel Downey, Founder of Share Your Genius, has worn a lot of hats—and not just because she majored in Theater. From digital marketer to bartender, Rachel was used to juggling jobs and making ends meet. Yet, she didn’t trust herself. Was she smart enough? Were her dreams big enough? She tried climbing the corporate ladder, but offices weren’t for her. She came, she saw, she felt… trapped. “Corporate life felt like a cage.” Though she’d always been attracted to entrepreneurship, it took a forced hospital stay with her premature daughter to seriously rethink her work/life priorities. It was time to stop telling herself what wasn’t possible. Learn how she stepped out on her own, built a B2B podcasting company, burned it all down (not really, but sort of…), and rebuilt her business in a more authentic, flexible, and sustainable way. All it took was a hard-won mindset shift, a global pandemic, and a little sticky note that arrived at just the right moment. 7. Dream Job by Design with Ashley Wilhite
She had a plan. The universe had a very different one. From therapist to Uber driver, executive assistant to Human Design Coach, Ashley Wilhite knows a thing or two about pivoting. Armed with a Masters degree from Columbia, and a heart for disadvantaged people, she set out on a traditional career path in therapy. After a while, though, hefty student loans, workplace politics, and bureaucratic red tape hijacked her joy. She was doing meaningful work, true. But the life that job afforded (ahem, or didn’t) left her wanting more—more financial freedom, location flexibility, and energy left in the tank. Ashley grieved the life she’d anticipated, but she soon hung her own shingle as an online business coach. No set schedule? Helping people? This had to be right…right? Within three years, massive burnout (the sequel) came knocking. Rethink. Reset. Recalibrate. Learn how a chance encounter at a Texas gas station opened Ashley’s eyes to Human Design and “The Science of Differentiation.” Now a full-time (well, four hours per day) Human Design Coach, she’s finally found her calling. All she had to do was listen to what her body was saying all along. For more inspiration, subscribe to Unbound Turnarounds on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen to podcasts! 6. Seeking Option "C" with Margo Stoney
Sometimes you have to step back to take a step forward. Margo Stoney, Founder of High Mountain Creative, knows this all too well. Her entrepreneur origin story has a few stops and starts, but she’s grateful for the ups, downs, and turnarounds that got her where she is today. A graphic designer by trade, and a snowboarder by choice, Margo lives for fresh powder, passport stamps, and outdoor adventures with her pup Rico. Though she remembers her years in corporate life fondly, insatiable wanderlust eventually won out. Learn how she honed her craft on the open road—and the #vanlife malfunction that led her to cross paths with her now-husband. Then hear about the climate crisis reality check that pivoted her entire business model toward supporting conservation nonprofits and sustainable brands. “Choose your eco focus and run with it,” Margo advises fellow entrepreneurs struggling with climate anxiety. Whether it’s integrated into your business, personal life, or both, small steps can make a big impact. Volunteering for trash pickups, planting trees, sustainable commuting, upcycling, and embracing Leave No Trace ethics while recreating are just a few ways to get started. At every turn, Margo has a knack for finding (or creating) an “Option C” in situations that seem black and white. If you’ve ever wanted to infuse more purpose into your work (without going back to school for a Masters Degree in Biology), press play. 5. Shifting Focus with Jenn Vernarsky
“Don’t be afraid to ask for help, but that help might not be free.” Preach! Jenn Vernarsky isn’t afraid to invest in herself, and it’s paid off—big time. Despite an established left-brain career in nursing, her right-brain creativity kept pulling her deeper into the world of photography. What began with a family vacation and a starter DSLR camera quickly grew into a passion. “There’s so much burnout in nursing,” Jenn reflects. She loved her patients, but she didn’t want that to be her fate. Maybe there was a way to have it all? (Spoiler Alert: There was!) Jenn strategically invested in the mentors, systems, and gear she needed to build a successful elopement and portrait photography business. One day at a time, she began tipping the scales from nursing income to generating her own revenue doing what she loved most—taking pictures. Now, five years in, Jenn has learned a lot about how to manage clients, arrange her schedule, and learn up new skills, while picking up nursing shifts in her slow season. Most importantly, she’s learned that “Humans make mistakes.” Her advice? Forgive yourself, learn from it, and press on. Oh, and take pictures every day! The key to success? Rad women who've always got your back. Darby Knoll, Pack Leader at Darby's Dogs and Executive Director of Backcountry Squatters, shares her roundabout path from wannabe veterinarian to entrepreneur. Plagued by teasingly-diverse interests, and eventually health challenges, she reflects on how she learned to create a (far) more sustainable career *her way.* Thanks to her learned self-confidence, and a community of women to cheer her on, Darby counts her lucky stars every time she hits the trails—pups in tow. 3. Be Your Own Boss Bootcamp With Stefanie Jansen
She still remembers flying to Montana and learning to 'eat the frog.' Stefanie Jansen, Founder of Word4Word Writing, shares her origin story of becoming a freelance copywriter while raising four daughters (and one husband). After a fruitful career in corporate marketing, she decided to bring her talents in-house (literally) for the flexibility, financial freedom, and control she craved. Detail-obsessed, and a die hard defender of the Oxford comma, this Hoosier kicked off her journey with a frigid trip to Montana for Be Your Own Boss Bootcamp with her mentor. Armed with the tools and confidence to try something scary, she jumped in with both feet. More than six years into entrepreneurship, Stefanie has a healthy dose of perspective ("I work for you. But I don't work FOR you.") and 90-inch vs. 90-minute commute. No wonder she hasn't looked back. Best of all, she's now become the mentor who inspires and empowers others to go it alone—together. Mallory Underwood, Founder of More You and Co-Founder of Business Unbound, shares her story of juggling cross-country moves, two toddlers, and an insatiable craving for connection. Though it's been a rollercoaster, she's created a life that offers more autonomy over her day, more money in her bank account, and more time for her family.
