Simplon
Inspired by my first train trip (in 1986, on an InterRail holiday with John, Graham and Andrew) through the Simplon tunnel, the world's second-longest, from Brig in Switzerland to Domodossala in Italy. And back again. We travelled with three elderly Italian sisters in our carriage on the way to Italy. We spoke no Italian, they spoke no English, so we conversed in French for a couple of hours. It was very sweet, really!

Water's edge
The image here is from a painting "At the water's edge" by Emmanuel Benner (1836 – 1896), a French artist {and noted decorator of ceramics}, and I really like it. I wrote this tune one lunchtime while sitting in the sun on a rock by the pond on the business park where I work in Stirling. Something of the surroundings seems to have made its way into the tune, with sound effects like frogs and insects appearing and a real watery vibe (in my opinion anyway). It's the first time, other than travelling on trains, where the location seems to have influenced a tune as I have been creating it.
