Together with her husband, Fred Giuffrida, Joyner has amassed what has been called the most important collection of African-American art in private hands—a collection that includes several works by Samuel Levi Jones. Working between Chicago and Indianapolis, Jones uses varied material such as stripped-apart sports equipment and pulped books to deconstruct an object's moral and ethical implications.
