We met Dana Clerico Hedgepath when we first moved to South Carolina, and our families attended church together, and we were in youth group together, so yeah, we go way back! It’s been such a gift to not only grow up together, but to also keep in touch over the years, and watch the way she has continued to walk out her faith so intentionally in every season of her life. Whether that was young adult life, young married life, as a teacher and coach, as a daughter and a sister, to becoming an amazing mom - every season is so different, and yet so beautiful. Her Mission Field is wherever she goes and whoever God places on her path. It’s a posture of saying, “God, I want my life to be aligned with You. I want to notice where You’re working and be willing to join You right where I am.” Walking on mission isn’t about striving or trying to prove anything to God. It’s about walking with Him, not just doing things for Him. When we’re close to God when we’re listening, praying, and staying aware of His presence—mission flows naturally out of that relationship. It becomes less about a checklist and more about obedience and trust. We pray this season encourages you to see your daily interactions with others as a mission field. 115 | Experiencing JOY On The Journey: An Advent Conversation with Jen Edwards
As we enter the third week of Advent, we turn our attention to JOY, but not the surface-level joy we often associate with the Christmas season. Advent reminds us that real joy is often born in places of longing, waiting, and even hardship. The joy of Scripture is not loud or flashy; it’s steady, surprising, and rooted in the presence of God. The prophet Isaiah spoke of a coming joy when he wrote, “The desert and the parched land will be glad; the wilderness will rejoice and blossom” (Isaiah 35:1). Joy shows up in barren places. And when the angel declared, “I bring you good news of great joy” (Luke 2:10), it wasn’t to people who had comfortable lives, it was to shepherds on the night shift, living under Roman rule, carrying their own burdens. Advent joy is the kind of joy that doesn’t ignore reality but shines right in the middle of it, a joy that comes from knowing that God sees us, God is with us, and God is still at work. This week, we’re leaning into that kind of joy - the kind that grows in the waiting and strengthens our hearts as we journey toward the manger, and await HIS glorious return. Today we’re turning our hearts and our attention on the beauty of marriage and family by honoring the incredible role of a Godly, selfless mother. Her love weaves through so many seasons— whether she is caring for little ones at home, faithfully working while nurturing her family, pouring into her grandchildren with joy, or even walking tenderly beside a spouse whose health is declining. Each stage reflects a heart of sacrifice that mirrors the love of Christ. Scripture reminds us in Philippians 2:4, “Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” And in Isaiah 66:13, God paints a picture of His own compassion through a mother’s care: “As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you.” What an honor it is to have our own mother, Kathy Corless, join us at the table today to share insight and encouragement about marriage, and her example of loving and cherishing our dad well in sickness and in health. These testimonies haven’t just been inspiring—they’ve been transforming. We are reminded that we overcome by the blood of the Lamb & the Word of our testimony. Our ultimate hope is in the finished work of Jesus on the cross—but there’s something so powerful about hearing how He’s shown up in each other’s lives. It strengthens our faith. It reminds us we’re not alone. So as this season wraps up, we want to leave you with two questions: What are you holding onto from this season? What do you want to carry forward? In this episode Josh Cutler joins us at the table to continue a conversation we started months ago. Back in episode 67 Josh shares in great detail about his health journey and battle with Lyme disease. Today we pick right back up to discuss what God has been teaching him in this season. His journey hasn’t been easy, and he faces daily choices about where to focus his attention—on Jesus or on his circumstances. His words of encouragement remind us that small steps of obedience and consistency lead to great strides of Freedom and Healing in Christ. Proverbs 3:5-6: "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight." Our paths are very different, but we often battle with the same things: fear and all the what ifs. We are reminded again this week that we can’t be anxious and Grateful at the same time -- so when those fears or what if situations begin in our mind, we can choose to be grateful for the blessings in our life, and it will change our perspective. In today's episode, we’re exploring what it means to truly walk in healing and freedom in Christ. Jesus said, in John 8:36… “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” and we want this promise to be the foundation of every episode this season. Isaiah 53 says, “But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed.” Walking in healing and Freedom in Christ is a choice we face every day—this constant contrast: Will I focus on myself, or will I fix my eyes on Jesus’ finished work?
