Art Berman: The Global Energy Order Is Breaking

Roughly six vessels moved through the Strait of Hormuz in a day, down from 130 to 140 before the war, and Art Berman says Persian Gulf oil production is down about 10 million barrels a day. His case: this is a bigger supply shock than COVID, and markets are barely pricing it. Geologist and energy consultant Art Berman returns to Wealthion with Maggie Lake to explain why the oil market looks calm on the surface while the plumbing underneath has changed dramatically. He argues the ceasefire optimism is misplaced, that markets are not wrong so much as focused on the wrong part of the system, and that the real story sits in upstream production, not tanker traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. What Berman covers: - Why Hormuz flows may not return to even half of pre-war levels before the middle of 2027 - Why markets are not getting it wrong, and what the shift in the futures curve is really signaling - How the oil market always clears, and why demand reduction is the ultimate default - Upstream, midstream and downstream: the distinction most headlines miss - The figure almost no one is discussing: Persian Gulf production down around 10 million barrels a day - Why, by one measure, this is a larger supply shock than COVID Chapters: 00:00 Art Berman: The Energy Order Is Breaking 00:54 Strait of Hormuz Crisis: Why Conditions Are Getting Worse 03:57 Oil Markets, Iran and the Risk Investors Are Pricing 10:05 Why Demand Destruction Becomes the Ultimate Solution 13:18 10 Million Barrels a Day of Oil Production Shut In 16:24 Oil Stocks vs. Flows: What Investors Are Missing 22:09 Hormuz, Panama Canal & the New Geopolitics of Choke Points 27:18 Why a Middle East Deal Won’t Quickly Restore Oil Flows 30:21 Why Shut-In Oil Production May Never Fully Recover 34:08 Art Berman Warns of an Unprecedented Energy System Shock 38:16 The Post-WWII Energy Order Is Unraveling 43:17 Oil Prices, Market Risk & How Price Discovery Really Works 💡 From the Strait of Hormuz and millions of barrels of shut-in production to the unraveling of the postwar energy order, Art Berman explains why this is far more than a temporary oil shock — and why the global energy system may never return to what it was before. Soft Jobs. Hard Talent: Mining’s Hidden Bottleneck | Steven Enders

The U.S. jobs market is cooling — but mining has a very different labor problem: finding the right talent. Veteran geologist and mining expert Steven Enders joins Maggie Lake to explain why the quality of people and management teams can make or break a mining project — even as the industry faces enormous demand for critical minerals. Enders breaks down the looming copper supply gap, why new mines remain so difficult to build, where we may be in the commodity cycle, and why AI can help the mining industry — but won’t solve its biggest problems. Plus: why he’s skeptical of mining project forecasts, what investors should look for in management teams, and the warning signs that tell him a commodity cycle may be getting mature. Topics include: • U.S. jobs market and mining’s talent challenge • Copper demand and the global supply gap • Mining stocks and commodity cycles • How to evaluate mining management teams • AI in mining and mineral exploration • Capex, opex and why mining projects run over budget • M&A and signs of a mature commodity cycle 💡 From a looming copper supply gap to mining’s hidden talent problem, Steven Enders explains why finding the right people may be just as critical as finding the right resources — and why AI alone won’t solve the industry’s biggest challenges. The Fed’s Credibility Is on the Line, Ed Yardeni Warns

The U.S. economy has survived higher rates, tariffs, inflation, geopolitical shocks and repeated recession warnings. Ed Yardeni says there’s a reason: the American consumer remains remarkably resilient. In this conversation, Yardeni explains to Maggie Lake why he believes the economy could stay strong through the end of the decade — but warns that the Federal Reserve now faces a serious credibility test as inflation remains above target. We discuss why Yardeni thinks the Fed should move in September, the return of the “bond vigilantes” — a term he coined in 1983 — the risks building in Japan, and what the next inflation report could mean for markets. Yardeni also lays out his provocative “G-shaped economy” thesis: older, asset-rich Americans are thriving and spending, while younger generations continue to struggle with housing and affordability. Topics include: • Why Yardeni calls the U.S. consumer “bulletproof” • The Fed’s September decision and inflation risk • The return of the “bond vigilantes” — and why long-term yields could revolt • Japan and the threat of a renewed currency crisis • The “G-shaped economy” and America’s generational divide • What investors should watch in the next CPI report 💡 From a “bulletproof” consumer to renewed pressure from the bond vigilantes, Ed Yardeni explains why the U.S. economy remains remarkably resilient — and why the Fed’s credibility could soon be tested. Treasury Yields Could Break the AI Boom

Could rising Treasury yields trigger the next major market downturn? In this exclusive interview, Jesse Felder, founder of The Felder Report, explains why he believes the 10-Year Treasury yield is the most important chart in the world—and why it could derail the AI boom, pressure stocks, and expose deeper problems in the global economy. Felder argues that investors are underestimating the risks building in the bond market, warns a slow-motion debt crisis is already underway, and explains why soaring government debt, persistent inflation, and higher interest rates could reshape markets for years to come. He also shares why Warren Buffett's massive Treasury position makes sense today, why momentum investing may be breaking down, where he sees value emerging, and why energy, oil, and commodities could outperform in the years ahead. Jim Bianco: There Are Now Two Stock Markets

Have U.S. markets quietly split into two completely different markets? In this conversation with Maggie Lake, Jim Bianco, President of Bianco Research, argues that's exactly what's happening. According to Bianco, just 41 AI-related companies now account for nearly half of the S&P 500, while the other 459 stocks are increasingly moving independently. Bianco also explains: * Why AI is the biggest technological revolution he's ever seen * Why today's AI rally is different from the dot-com era * What ultimately causes every technology bubble to burst * The biggest risk that could derail AI investing * Why the next phase of the AI trade could be even more volatile Whether you're bullish or bearish on artificial intelligence, this interview offers a framework for understanding where we may be in the AI investment cycle. 💡 Stay ahead of the biggest macro and market trends with interviews featuring the world's top investors, economists, and strategists covering AI, equities, macroeconomics, precious metals, energy, and real assets. Why a Recession May Never Come... and Why Gold Still Wins

For years, investors have been waiting for a recession that never seems to arrive. According to Fourth Lane Partners Portfolio Manager Andrew Sarna, there's a simple reason why: massive government deficits continue to overwhelm traditional recession signals. In this interview with Maggie Lake, Sarna explains why bonds are no longer a core portfolio holding, why the AI trade may be losing momentum, and why he believes real assets—especially energy and gold—remain among the best long-term investments as debt, deficits, and geopolitical tensions reshape global markets. Topics discussed: - Why recession calls have been wrong - The bond market's warning - Is the AI trade starting to crack? - Why bonds are no longer "safe" - Gold vs. equities - Why energy remains undervalued - Building a portfolio for the next decade 💡 Inspired by Andrew Sarna's outlook on deficits, gold, and real assets? Jonathan Wellum: The Biggest Mistake Investors Make With Winning Stocks

When should you sell a stock that's been one of your biggest winners? According to veteran portfolio manager Jonathan Wellum of ROCKLINC Investment Partners, the default answer is almost never...unless the investment thesis has fundamentally changed. In this conversation with Maggie Lake, Wellum explains why long-term investors often hurt returns by selling too early, chasing market trends, or reacting emotionally to volatility. He outlines the three legitimate reasons to sell a stock, discusses why taxes shouldn't dictate investment decisions, explains how Warren Buffett approached trimming Apple, and shares why patience remains one of the greatest competitive advantages investors have. He also offers practical guidance on managing concentration risk, evaluating intrinsic value, and avoiding costly behavioral mistakes. If you're wondering whether it's time to take profits—or simply stay the course—this interview provides a disciplined framework for making better investment decisions. 💡 Jonathan Wellum says the hardest investing decision isn't what to buy—it's knowing when to sell. Mark Thornton: The Most Overvalued Stock Market Since 1927? Why Gold Could Win Next

Is the U.S. stock market more overvalued than at any point in the last 150 years—except for 1927? Economist Mark Thornton, Senior Fellow at the Mises Institute, believes today's extreme valuations, rising leverage, and mounting fiscal pressures are creating the conditions for a major market reckoning. In this conversation with Maggie Lake, Thornton explains why he sees elevated risks for equities, why he believes gold and silver may have already found a bottom despite recent weakness, and how shifting interest rate expectations, a weakening dollar, and growing government deficits could trigger a powerful rotation into precious metals. He also shares his controversial view on the Federal Reserve's true priorities and what investors should watch as markets navigate an increasingly uncertain macro environment. 💡 To watch Maggie's full interview with Mark Thornton + more exclusive content, join Wealthion's Real Asset community at https://bit.ly/3ReXl9s 💡 If Mark Thornton is right that today's stock market is approaching historic valuation extremes while gold and silver are building a long-term bottom, now may be the time to consider adding precious metals to your portfolio. Francis Hunt: The Slow Collapse of Dollar Dominance Has Already Begun

China isn't trying to replace the U.S. dollar overnight—but according to Francis Hunt of The Market Sniper, it doesn't have to. In this interview with Maggie Lake, Hunt explains why China's steady accumulation of gold, changing global trade dynamics, and the world's growing debt burden are creating a slow but powerful shift in the global monetary system. Rather than expecting a sudden collapse, he argues investors should focus on the long-term erosion of dollar dominance that's already underway. Hunt also explains why he believes precious metals remain in a secular bull market, why pullbacks shouldn't shake long-term investors, and how China's actions could continue supporting gold prices for years to come. Topics discussed: * Why China continues buying gold * The gradual decline of dollar dominance * Gold's long-term outlook * Debt, fiat currencies, and monetary risk * Why emerging markets could benefit from the shift * What investors should watch next 💡 Francis Hunt believes China's steady accumulation of gold is part of a long-term shift away from dollar dominance. Gold has dipped below — and is now hovering around — the key $4,000 level, leaving investors asking the big question: is this just a pause in the bull market, or a warning sign?Rick Rule joins Wealthion to explain why he believes the long-term case for gold, silver, and real assets remains intact, even as precious metals face short-term pressure from rates, the dollar, and shifting investor sentiment.Rule argues that rising debt, currency debasement risk, and long-term supply constraints continue to create a powerful setup for hard assets. Henrik Zeberg: The Final Melt-Up Before Everything Breaks

Henrik Zeberg says the market’s most dangerous phase may still be ahead — a final, violent melt-up that could send risk assets sharply higher before the entire cycle turns. In this interview, Zeberg lays out why he believes investors are being pulled into the last stage of the bull market, why the Nasdaq could still surge, and why the endgame may be brutal: recession, deflation, collapsing risk assets, and a rush into cash. This is not a soft landing call. Zeberg argues the “everything rally” may be the trap — and that when it breaks, there may be nowhere to hide. Watch before the melt-up turns into the crash. 💡If Henrik Zeberg is right, the next phase could be a final market melt-up before a brutal downturn — making now the time to pressure-test your portfolio. Michael Howell: AI Will Fuel Inflation, And Markets Aren’t Ready

Michael Howell, Managing Director at GL Indexes, warns that the global liquidity cycle is rolling over — just as AI spending, inflation pressure, Treasury stress, and China’s gold strategy are reshaping markets. In this interview with Maggie Lake, Howell explains why AI may be inflationary before it becomes deflationary, why the U.S. economy is pulling liquidity out of financial markets, and why investors may be moving from “speculation” into a more dangerous phase of the cycle. He also breaks down why he believes China is the real force driving gold, how crypto is flashing a liquidity warning, and why the Fed’s 2% inflation target may be fantasy. This is a must-watch for investors trying to understand what comes next for stocks, bonds, gold, Bitcoin, oil, and real assets as liquidity tightens and inflation risk return 💡Michael Howell says the global liquidity cycle is rolling over, AI may add to inflation pressure, and investors may be moving from speculation into turbulence. The Dollar System Is Losing Trust — Gold’s Monetary Reset Has Begun

Ronnie Stoeferle, partner at Incrementum AG and co-author of the In Gold We Trust report, joins Wealthion’s Trey Reik to explain why gold’s rally may be about much more than a normal bull market.Stoeferle argues that gold is signaling a deeper loss of trust in the dollar-based monetary system, as de-dollarization, inflation volatility, central bank buying, and rising geopolitical risk reshape the global financial order. He also explains why gold may be entering the public participation phase of its bull market — with institutional investors only beginning to wake up to the role gold can play in portfolios. In this conversation, Ronnie and Trey discuss whether the Pax Americana is coming to a close, why fiat currencies look different when measured in gold, whether this is a monetary revaluation rather than a normal gold cycle, and what the In Gold We Trust report reveals about the future of money. 💡Ronnie Stoeferle says gold’s rally may be signaling something much bigger than a normal bull market — a shift in trust, inflation, and the global monetary order. “Something’s Gonna Crack”: Bond Strategist Warns Stealth Tightening Is Hitting Markets

George Goncalves, Head of U.S. Macro Strategy at MUFG, joins Maggie Lake to explain why the market may be underestimating a dangerous form of “stealth tightening.” Goncalves says the Fed may not have officially hiked rates — but the bond market has effectively done it for them. With borrowing costs still high, energy prices rising, consumers stretched, and equity markets trading “on their own planet,” he warns that the pressure is building beneath the surface. Could this be the moment when higher rates finally start to hurt? And if markets can no longer ignore the cost of funding, private credit risk, and stretched valuations — what breaks first? In this interview, Goncalves breaks down why the bond market is sending a warning, why recession odds could rise into the second half, and why investors may be facing a much weaker economic backdrop than the stock market suggests. 💡George Goncalves says “the markets hiked for the Fed” — and these high rates are starting to hurt. Broken Market Signals Are Warning of the “End Game”

Is the bond market really warning of a U.S. debt crisis — or are investors misreading a distorted market signal? Michael Green, Chief Strategist and Portfolio Manager at Simplify Asset Management, joins Maggie Lake to explain why passive investing, regulation, and hidden leverage may be warping the way markets price risk. He argues that what many see as a collapse warning in long-term bonds may actually be a mechanical consequence of how capital is being allocated. Green also breaks down why investors may be ignoring one of the clearest retirement opportunities in years, why liquidity is weakening beneath mega-cap stocks, and why he believes the “real craziness” in markets may still be ahead. 💡Michael Green warns that passive investing, hidden leverage, and distorted market signals may be leaving investors exposed to risks they don’t fully see. Pierre Lassonde: “$17,000 Gold Is the Floor”

Legendary gold investor Pierre Lassonde joins Wealthion’s Trey Reik to explain why he believes gold’s bull market is far from over — and why his $17,000 gold target may be more floor than fantasy. Lassonde argues that today’s market has eerie similarities to the 1970s: energy shocks, sticky inflation, rising deficits, financial repression, and a political system with little will to tackle the debt. He says those forces are reshaping the investment landscape and could drive gold dramatically higher as investors seek protection from currency debasement and declining confidence in paper assets. In this conversation, Lassonde breaks down his Dow-to-gold ratio framework, why he believes the Federal Reserve may not be able to stop inflation the way Paul Volcker did, and why gold remains one of the clearest signals of stress in the global monetary system. 💡Pierre Lassonde says $17,000 gold may be more “floor” than fantasy as deficits, inflation, and monetary change reshape the investment landscape. Jim Bianco: AI Is Holding Up A Broken Market

Jim Bianco warns that beneath the market’s record highs, the rally is dangerously narrow — with AI and chip stocks doing most of the heavy lifting while large parts of the market struggle. He also breaks down the narrow AI-led rally, with Nvidia earnings putting the market’s dependence on chip stocks and data-center spending back in focus.
