Ep. 11 Chocolate, Coffee, and a Little Luck with Emily Locker

In this episode, author Emily Locker talks about her brand new book, Running Mates, balancing life as a mother, writer, and therapist, the highs and lows of social media, and all the books and authors we love most. Emily and I have been, apparently, running parallel but inverse lives, and it was super fun to talk about all the things we had in common, but reversed. For bonus material, please subscribe to the What Am I Doing Here newsletter. Emily Locker spent most of fourth grade persuading her friends to reenact scenes from Sweet Valley High. She recently returned to Washington where she lives with her husband and two young sons. When Emily is not writing or chasing after her "lively" boys, she works as a therapist in private practice. Running Mates is her first novel. This podcast is a production of MissHeard Media and Lindsey Turnbull.

In this episode, Jeanne Goussev shares how she became a race-winning, featured-in-a-documentary bad@$$ sailor, a bit about what keeps her going, and how she is navigating an MS diagnosis. Ep. 6: History, Hustle & Community with Kaitlin Calogera

In episode six, Kaitlin Calogera, founder of A Tour of Her Own, and I talk about some of our mutual faves: history and business! Kaitlin shares how her non-traditional college experience and life in DC helped to shape her interest in history and opens up about a tragedy in her life and how her community stepped up to support her. We also talk a bit about how adding more voices and stories to our understanding of history is good, actually. Kaitlin inspires me and I know she will inspire you too! For bonus material, please subscribe to the What Am I Doing Here newsletter. Kaitlin Calogera is a licensed tour guide, author, and entrepreneur who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. After recognizing a lack of women’s representation in public spaces, she founded the first tourism company in Washington, DC to focus exclusively on women's history. A Tour Of Her Own (TOHO) was established in 2018 to offer historical tours and special events that reframe the narrative by elevating women’s stories. Calogera became a professional tour guide because she believes in education beyond the classroom and that tourism has the power to ignite social change. Her book "111 Places in Women's History That You Must Not Miss" is a travel guidebook that encourages readers to explore sites and stories about women, many who are overlooked in traditional textbooks. With an extensive background in coaching female student-athletes, Kaitlin’s philosophies center around teamwork, empowerment, and education. As an avid traveler and researcher, she believes in the idea that we all belong but sometimes have to search deeper for the people, places, and stories we connect with most. Ep. 5: Love, Loss, and Growth with Jackie Stewart

In this episode, Jackie Stewart shares how a cross-country move, grief, and endless love are in "love and conflict" triangles. Jackie talks about how the loss of her mother inspired her to do the things she truly wanted in life, how she dealt with the "Seattle Freeze," and how neither of us know what we're doing. When I first got the idea to create WAIDHA podcast, Jackie was on my "must-interview" list, not just because we were in a program together in college, but also because she is warm, compassionate, smart, and incredibly loving. You'll get nothing but a big ole audio hug when you tune into this episode. For bonus material, please subscribe to the What Am I Doing Here newsletter. My name is Jackie Stewart. I have 10 years of experience as a public servant, at a handful of cities and counties in Florida and Washington state. Currently I'm a Public Records Analyst, but have previously worked in Parks, Fire, Police, HR and at a group home for foster children. I have my Master's in Public Administration from the University of Central Florida.   I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, but have lived in Seattle for almost two years now. I moved here for just a general desire for a life change. I have five nieces and nephews. Those kids have my whole heart.  In my free time I can usually be found laughing at things on TV (currently in the middle of my annual Gilmore Girls re-watch for the Fall), on the phone with my family (my nephews give me motion sickness during our video calls!), texting my best friend Jennie, or working on my Duolingo streak (Spanish and French). Ep. 1: Peace and Softness with Ve'lyn Crosby

In the very first full length episode, very first guest Ve'lyn Crosby shares how she came to embrace peace and softness in a world that is often anything but. When I first got the idea to create WAIDHA podcast, Ve'lyn was one of the first guests I thought of because of her kindness and openness, and she certainly embodies both in the episode. When brainstorming with a friend, I mentioned interviewing Ve'lyn, and the friend said "do it, everything in the world is better after talking to her." I'm inclined to agree! And I know you will too! For bonus material, please subscribe to the What Am I Doing Here newsletter. Ve’Lyn Crosby is a Life, Health & Leadership Coach for high-achieving women who want to live more, work less, and experience true fulfillment. Her clients describe her as “a calming presence” and “a compassionate and empowering guide.” Ve’Lyn takes great pride in creating safe spaces for women who are ready to cultivate deeper authenticity, inner peace, joy, gratitude, and ease in their daily lives. Ve'Lyn is a proud Alumna of Spelman College and holds a Master of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
