What Say Youth

Recent years, Malaysia faces a surge of man-made disasters. Flash flood occurs across our country and causes huge damages. The weather is getting unpredictable with an increase of heatwave and unusual rainfall. All of these are the consequences of climate change. In this episode, we discuss what climate change truly is, how it impacts our current lives and the future. Along with Jasmin Irisha Jim Ilham, UNICEFmalaysia Climate and Environment Consultant, who shared about her experience working in this sector and the key findings from researches conducted throughout the years.

In this episode, we have Nisa from KYRSS’s Research & Documentation Officer, an NGO that works on gender-based freedom of expression and Wen Fang, the secretary of Ceritakitazine, an upcoming online magazine/platform for survivors to share their feelings and experiences. 

In earlier Sept, the Kuching High Court ordered the federal government to implement lowering of the voting age from 21 to 18 latest by 31 Dec 2021.  In this episode, we invited Maheerah, one of the lawsuit applicants & Charlene See from Undi18 to share about their journey in fighting for the voting right and the importance of political participation among Malaysian youths.

In this multi-cultural country of Malaysia, the Indians have always been a part of our community. However, they are often being neglected in all areas: job, education, social rights & media representation.  In this season of Deepavali, we're grateful to have Vice President 2 of Malaysian Indian Youth Council (MIYC), Mr. Sanjay and the finalists of Ratu Bumi Malaysia, Ms.Sanglisha. Together, we talk about the situation and challenges faced by the Indians and how we can move forward together.

In conjunction with 30 Sept: International Podcast Day, we had a great session with Brandon Ho, a TV host, emcee and also a podcaster in the entertainment industry. We dive into a podcaster’s journey and talk about the situation of the Malaysian podcast industry.

In our 3rd episode, we speak to 2 young athletes that represented Malaysia in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics: Soniia Cheah, top women's singles player for badminton and Jeremiah Loo, a gymnast. They shared about interesting stories throughout their sports career and how they manage their image as athletes and public figures. 

In Part 2, we continue the topic with our guest, Miau Miau and discuss about some controversial events in the Malaysia influencers' circle and what can be improved in this industry.

With Miau Miau, a multi-talented actress and influencer, let us look into the Malaysian influencers' circle. We discussed about what made a person a qualified(!) influencer and how to create content that reaches the target audiences. 

Sitting down with a youth activist, Ain Husniza and the representative of All Women's Action Society (AWAM), Allysa, we discuss the issue of sexual harassment in Malaysia educational institution, the rights of a student and how media can play a part in combatting this issue.
