The conversation is set to explore the challenges and opportunities that social media presents for athletes at all levels.Social Media's Impact on Young AthletesA discussion on the impact of social media on young athletes, particularly in baseball and softball. The participants agreed that while social media can be a useful tool for building a player's brand and getting them noticed by college recruiters, it can also have negative effects. They noted that some players become overly focused on their individual stats and performance, which can lead to pressure and mental health issues. The coaches also expressed concerns about the shift towards individualism in sports, as they believe that the team concept is becoming less emphasized. They suggested that young athletes should focus on their game and let their results speak for themselves, rather than relying too heavily on social media.Social Media's Impact on AthletesBrian discussed the challenges of maintaining a social media presence as a professional athlete, particularly during the season. He suggested that social media could be distracting and negatively impact mental health. Robert and Chris agreed that social media policies might be necessary for teams to help athletes navigate these challenges. Coaches also shared strategies for handling phones during games and practice, emphasizing the importance of setting clear rules and consequences. The team also discussed the need for coaches to be more aware of social media's impact on their teams and to address the issue appropriately.Social Media Management for Young AthletesThe panel discussed the importance of social media for young athletes, emphasizing the need for careful management and branding. They advised athletes to focus on their performance and not be swayed by negative opinions from peers. The panel also touched on the potential for social media managers for young athletes, but cautioned that this might not be necessary for all players. They also briefly mentioned the issue of parental pressure on athletes, but decided to save this topic for a later discussion. Our Amazing Panel of Coaches and PlayersFormer MLB Player Brian McRae https://x.com/kcsluggers?lang=enCoach Joe Conti https://x.com/LiquidJoeNitroCoach Antone Gomes https://thebaseballcoach.comSo athletes, coaches, fans—let us know in the comments:Is social media helping the game evolve, or is it slowly eroding what made sports great in the first place?Don’t forget to like, subscribe, and share this with someone who’s going viral for all the wrong reasons."Why student-athletes are struggling with clout culture and social media pressureSocial media and NIL: The new challenges for college athletesCoaches on how TikTok and Instagram are changing the gameSubscribe To What Up! https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatUpSports?sub_confirmation=1More What Up Videos 👇https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatUpSports/videosCONNECT WITH US:For Business Inquiries:[email protected]: http://instagram.com/whatupsportsnationFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/whatupsportsTwitter: @wusportsnation

Preventing #Injuries in #Sports
The team discussed the increasing prevalence of injuries in professional sports, attributing it to factors such as overtraining, specialization in one sport, and the lack of multi-sport participation. They agreed that playing multiple sports helps develop better body awareness, mechanics, and overall physicality, reducing the risk of injury. The team also noted the shift in sports culture, where kids are now more focused on one sport and often travel for competitions, leading to a lack of balance in their training. They concluded that a well-rounded training regimen, including weight training, cardio, and fast movements, is essential for maintaining good health and preventing injuries.Addressing Burnout in Young AthletesThe team discussed the challenges faced by young athletes, particularly in relation to burnout and the pressure to excel in multiple sports. Is Attending Major Sporting Events Worth It Anymore?
Value of Attending Sports Events Rob and Chris discussed the value of attending various sports events, particularly high school and junior college games. Rob expressed his preference for attending hockey games over NFL games, citing the more exciting atmosphere and lower ticket prices. Chris agreed, recommending watching high school and college softball games for the opportunity to see talented athletes and experience the energy of the games. Both emphasized the value of attending these events for the entertainment and inspiration they provide. Frustration With Professional Sports Decline Rob and Chris discussed their dissatisfaction with professional sports, particularly baseball, basketball, and Nascar. They expressed frustration with the current state of these sports, citing issues such as prima donna players, injuries, and a focus on money over the sport itself. They also discussed the decline in the quality of sports and the shift in focus towards local, amateur sports. Rob shared his personal experience of switching his focus from professional sports to local sports, such as paddleboarding and skiing. Chris agreed with Rob's perspective and suggested that the decline in professional sports is due to a lack of appreciation for the fans. They concluded the discussion by expressing their hope that people would start to appreciate local sports more. Supporting High School Student-Athletes Rob expresses his desire to see more support and attendance for high school sports beyond just football and basketball, such as softball, women's basketball, soccer, and wrestling. He highlights the passion and dedication of these student-athletes and suggests that having packed stadiums would be an incredible experience for them. Chris agrees and notes the affordability of attending such events. Rob emphasizes the importance of supporting these athletes at lower levels who play purely for their love of the sport. He also mentions interviewing a top-ranked high school wrestler who could potentially become an Olympian, encouraging people to watch and support her. The discussion touches on using the money spent on attending these events to support the schools' non-profit programs. New Rules in Baseball and Sports
What Up Sports #Baseball Rule Changes and #Impact Rob and Chris discuss potential rule changes in baseball, including the pitch clock and the proposed "golden batter" rule. Chris explains that the golden batter rule would allow teams to insert any player as a batter at any time, regardless of the batting order. He expresses concerns that the 20-second pitch clock could lead to more injuries for pitchers who need more time between pitches. Rob wonders if these changes are helping or hindering the game from a fan's perspective, as games move faster but fans may miss more action. They debate the pros and cons of the changes to increase excitement and speed up play. Rule Changes and Fan Preferences In the meeting, Chris and Rob discussed the impact of rule changes on the enjoyment of sports games. They agreed that the speed of games, particularly in baseball, has become too fast, potentially affecting fan experience and attendance. They also discussed the shift in fan preferences, with some fans preferring to spend their money on other sports like hockey. The conversation ended with the idea of a future show discussing where fans should spend their money for the best sports experience. Who Has Been Left Out Of a Hall Of Fame, Who Doesn't Belong?
Creating a Unique Sports Hall of Fame Rob and Chris discuss creating their own Hall of Fame with different criteria than traditional sports halls of fame. They want to consider factors like performance-enhancing drugs, cheating scandals, and how to compare athletes across different eras. Rob suggests judging players based on their on-field performance, not off-field issues. Chris emphasizes looking at advanced stats and metrics. They plan to establish clear criteria and have viewers help nominate and vote on inductees, starting with players not currently in official halls of fame. The goal is to have an open and honest discussion about greatness in sports without being overly restrictive. What Up Sports- #Brawl #Weekend Season 1 Show 1
Addressing Poor Sportsmanship in Football Chris and Rob discussed the recent sportsmanship issues in college football, specifically the rivalry game between Michigan and Ohio State. They agreed that Michigan's actions were classless and that Ohio State might have started the brawl. They also discussed the changing nature of sportsmanship in sports, referencing past incidents like Ray Lewis's dance and Matt Millen's punch. The conversation ended with a question about how to address the issue of poor sportsmanship in sports. Challenges in Young Athletes and Parents Chris and Rob discussed the challenges faced by young athletes and their parents. Chris emphasized that the parents often play a significant role in shaping the attitudes and behaviors of their children, particularly in sports. He noted that around the age of 14, some children start to feel the pressure of not being as good as their peers, leading to negativity and badmouthing. Chris also pointed out that the lack of effort and talent in some children can create a snowball effect, leading to a toxic environment in sports. Rob agreed with Chris's observations and suggested that they could delve deeper into this topic in future shows. They also discussed the possibility of inviting guests to share their experiences and opinions on the matter. College Athletes' Behavior and Punishment Chris and Rob discussed the issue of college athletes' behavior, specifically the recent brawl between Michigan and Ohio State. They debated whether the athletes should be fined some of their NIL money due to their actions. Rob suggested that penalizing teams in the playoff rankings could be an effective deterrent, but Chris argued that this would not be a strong enough punishment, given the financial importance of college sports. They also touched on the role of coaches in managing player behavior and the potential benefits of having psychologists work with players to improve their mindset. The conversation ended with the idea of exploring these topics further in a future show. Subscribe To What Up! https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatUpSport... After winning the K&N West championship, BMR added a fifth Truck Series race for Kraus at Homestead-Miami Speedway. 2020–present: On January 13, 2020, Bill McAnally Racing announced the formation of McAnally-Hilgeemann acing, a partnership with businessman and fellow Stratford native Bill Hilgemann, to field the No. 19 Tundra full-time in the Truck Series for Kraus. He began the season at Daytona International Speedway with a career-best fourth-place finish. At Darlington, Kraus nearly scored his first career win, finishing second to Ben Rhodes in an overtime finish. Kraus returned to the team in 2021, but had a new crew chief in Matt Noyce, who moved over from ThorSport Racing No. 99 truck of Ben Rhodes. His previous crew chief, Kevin Bellicourt, left McAnally to crew chief the No. 77 Spire Motorsports car in the Cup Series.

Sean Taunt: Learn about recruiting from the PLU Associate Baseball Head Coach
This is one hell of an interview. Coach Sean Taunt really lays out recruiting for all levels. Plus at the end, some of the best superstitions we have ever heard from a coach! Sean Taunt joined the Pacific Lutheran baseball program as an assistant coach starting with the 2012 season and was promoted to associate head coach prior to the 2019 season. As PLU's pitching coach, he has coached the Lutes to the top three team strikeout totals (355 in 2014, 342 in 2013 and 324 in 2015), as well as the lowest staff ERA in team history in 2014. Taunt, who earned an associate degree from Green River Community College, is now a lead instructor and director at Big League Edge Performance Baseball in Auburn after initially joining the organization as an instructor in 2006. He coached a 15U team in the 2010 Latin American Classic in the Dominican Republic and won a silver medal. Taunt has coached summer teams ages 14 through 18 over the last 10 years, and had one of his players taken in the 2011 Major League Baseball draft. In 2011 he started the Pro Baseball Club ZIPS organization, where he coaches the 18U ZIPS team. Additionally, Taunt served as a Puyallup High School baseball assistant coach from 2002-2011. He lives in Puyallup with his wife Tara. Subscribe To What Up! https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatUpSport... More What Up Videos 👇 https://www.youtube.com/c/WhatUpSport...
