Why most token launches failed in 2025
by asadullah
In the first half of 2025, the token market underwent a decisive correction. The environment was no longer receptive to noise disguised as traction. Our team at LKI Consulting conducted the research and analyzed 28 token launches with initial valuations exceeding $50 million. We found that over 90% of these newly launched tokens saw post-listing price declines. Nearly 75% of those tokens lost more than 60% of their value within the first four weeks. This dramatic repricing wasn’t a reflection of weak technology or inexperienced teams. Many of these projects were backed by credible builders and strong concepts. The core issue was systemic: token launch strategies were misaligned with what the market actually values. Overvaluation, flawed distribution, poor liquidity, and lack of utility led to a collapse in buyer interest once early hype faded. Our analysis distills the key strategic missteps from Q1 and Q2
