Gary Heidnik
The 1980's is one of the most tumultuous decades in American crime history. Those years set the tone for the classic image of a serial killer or deranged madman lurking in the shadows. Gary Heidnik was one of those men, committing crimes that would inspire Hollywood fiction that reshaped the horror genre. This week, Joe tells the Dark Tale of Gary Heidnik and the atrocities he would commit upon 6 women over the course of 5 months. In the winter of 1986/87, Gary Heidnik was hellbent on having his own harem of women hidden away from the rest of the world in his basement on Marshall Street in Philadelphia. Like our podcast? Conner & Brinley Snyder
A new episode, a new format. Joe takes to the mic solo in a case that is just as shocking as it is heartbreaking. Not to worry though, James will return in the very near future! In this episode, we're talking about the shocking deaths of two young children found in their home by their very own mother. 8 year old Conner and his sister, 4 year old Brinley died in September of 2019, but the story of their deaths sounds like something out of a Steven King novel and isn't over yet. This week Joe and James have a discussion on the terms "Psychopath" and "Sociopath", how they fit into modern psychology and what is specifically meant by those terms when used in every day conversation. A loose conversation which touches on the theoretical foundations of what makes one a psychopath, how every day people may exhibit the same traits at one time or another, the damaging ways in which some people process emotions, and why Super Smash Bros is total bullshit. An Interview with Sarah Turney
Today we hear the tale of Alissa Turney who, in 2001, went missing from Phoenix, Arizona. With nothing but a note saying she was running away her stepfather, Michael Roy Turney, retains she ran to California to this day. Years later, Michael was arrested for stashing home-made explosives with intent to commit an act of domestic terrorism and his claim that Alissa had run away was looked at with more scrutiny. While Michael was imprisoned, his daughter and Alissa's sister Sarah had begun to see the truth that her father was a completely different man than she had previously believed. Today she joins us and tells us the story from her perspective, how she began to see past her fathers narrative, and why she believes that Michael killed her sister. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Special thank you to Sarah Turney for joining us visit her website for more information at: https://justiceforalissa.com/ Another great podcast that covers every aspect of this story is Missing Alissa, a podcast by Ottavia Zappala https://www.missingalissa.com/ Another special thanks to Kevin MacLeod for his song "Hitman" which we use as our intro and background music through the episode. https://incompetech.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Reach us at: Email: DarkTalePodcast@gmail.com Twitter: https://twitter.com/ADarkTalepod

We take a moment to step aside and discuss our first five episodes, send out a couple over-due thanks, and laugh at ourselves for our lack of introductions and over-abundance of naming schemes. Thanks again for anyone who listened to our first five episodes, more to come soon!

Chris Watts: A Family Annihilator
This week, Joe and James break down the case of Christopher Watts who, on August 13, 2018, killed his entire family including pregnant wife Shanann, two young daughters Bella and Celeste, and their unborn child Nico. Watch and listen for yourself, what happens when you put a family annihilator (aka: a coward) into a corner.

The Wood-chipper Murder
This week, Joe and James discuss the infamous "Wood-chipper Murder" case. A tale so simply bizarre that it went on to inspire strange fiction of all kinds.
