All Episodes - Bohème
Step into the vibrant streets of 1830s Paris, where four passionate Bohemian artists—Rodolfo the poet, Marcello the painter, Schaunard the musician, and Colline the philosopher—navigate the struggles of poverty with joy and camaraderie. On a festive Christmas Eve, they pool their meager resources for a night out in the Latin Quarter. While his friends celebrate, Rodolfo remains behind to finish a poem, only to be interrupted by their delicate neighbor, Mimi. A chance encounter leads to an instant spark of love as they search for her lost key in the darkness. But their budding romance is threatened by the shadow of tuberculosis, which looms over Mimi and the life she cherishes. Originally penned in Italian and later translated into English, this libretto serves as the foundation for Giacomo Puccinis cherished opera and inspired the acclaimed rock musical and film, Rent, by Jonathan Larson. Join us for a dramatic reading that captures the essence of love and loss. Summary by Mary Kay. <
