Young women and girls are reported to be among the most vulnerable section of the population, as they are tempted to use drugs as an escape from life’s troubles.  The substances that are most commonly used in Zimbabwe include alcohol, cannabis, heroin, glue and cough mixtures such as histalix and bron clear.  Cannabis (mbanje) remains the most popular illicit drug because it is grown locally or smuggled in from neighbouring countries like Malawi and Mozambique.

Menstrual Hygiene Day: In Zimbabwe, many women and girls are stigmatised, excluded and discriminated against simply because they menstruate. It is not acceptable that because of a natural bodily function women and girls continue to be prevented from getting an education, earning an income and fully and equally participating in everyday life. ntra-familial sexual abuse is sexual abuse perpetrated by a relative or close family member. In this form of abuse, a family member involves a child in (or exposes a child to) sexual behaviors or activities. The “family member” may not be a blood relative, but could be someone who is considered “part of the family,”   A child who has been abused by a close family member lose trust in everyone. Knowing that the abuser is liked—or even loved—by other family members makes it all the more difficult for the abused child to tell others about the abuse. A child who has been abused by a family member is more likely to blame herself or himself for the abuse than those who are abused by someone outside the family unit. This is particularly true of older children, who may be all too aware of the effect that disclosing the abuse will have on other family members.  In today’s episode, we talk to you young woman who, at the age of 16 was indecently assaulted by her uncle. For many years, the uncle pestered the girl to engage in sex and would send inappropriate and indecent messages to her
