Albert Payson Terhune, renowned for his beloved book Lad, a Dog, also made his mark as a collie breeder and journalist. In His Dog, we meet Link Ferris, who discovers an injured collie on his way home one evening. Despite having no experience with dogs, Link tends to the ailing animal and they quickly forge an unbreakable bond. Unable to find the dogs original owner, Link names him Chum, who becomes an essential companion on his humble farm. However, unbeknownst to Link, Chums previous owners are desperately searching for him, forcing Link to grapple with the heart-wrenching choice between doing what is right and the deep love he has developed for his new friend.
