Inside pleasure and fear with Niamh Daly
In this episode, teacher, trainer and author Niamh Daly talks about the effects of fear and pleasure in perimenopause. We talk about libido, and unpack the myth that perimenopause necessarily means a drop, or no libido at all. We talk about how to bring more pleasure into your life, how that re-wires the brain, about the value of yoga and different varieties of yoga and other movement. We talk about the fear that sets in too, when our bodies don’t respond as well as they used to, and how to meet these issues with compassion. Niamh has been teaching yoga since 2004. Seeing that there was very little consideration in the yoga world for the evolving needs of women over 40, in 2015 she began to develop Yoga for the Stages of Menopause, launching her YTT of the same name in 2020, which has trained hundreds of teachers worldwide. She also runs CPD courses in Yoga for Bone Health, and Menopause Awareness and Strategies for talk therapists and for fitness professionals. Her book Yoga for Menopause and Beyond: guiding teachers and students through change is a great read for yoga practitioners and teachers, I found it really helpful for my practice and I’m not a teacher. We started the conversation talking about orgasms, or rather, book-orgasms as you’ll hear…. Inside endings with Stella Duffy
We hear from the ridiculously prolific Stella Duffy about loss, endings, mortality, the value of living with a sense of our ageing instead of denying it, and the exquisite possibilities for being ‘more ourselves’ that this brings. Stella is hugely generous with sharing her life experience and there are some beautifully profound moments in this interview. Stella Duffy has completed a doctorate in Existential Psychotherapy and her research is in the embodied experience of postmenopause. As well as her private psychotherapy practice, she has worked in NHS cancer psychological support and hospice bereavement support. The co-founder and, for eight years, the co-director of Fun Palaces working with communities and inclusion across the UK, Stella has been active in equalities and diversity work in the arts and LGBTQ+ communities for many decades. In 2016 she was awarded the OBE for Services to the Arts. She is also a yoga teacher, leading regular workshops in yoga for writing. Inside men with Kenny Mammarella-D'Cruz
This is an episode for blokes, most especially for blokes who are close to perimenopausal mayhem. I had a chat with my old friend Kenny Mammarella D’Cruz, aka The Man Whisperer, who has instigated hundreds of men’s groups across the country. Daily Express described me as a "coach, consultant, and guru of all things men" Kenny and I talked about: How men deal with loneliness and painMen allowing vulnerabilityMen allowing connectionHow to communicate with their perimenopausal partnersThe possibility of both partners in a heterosexual relationship are transforming at the same time About legacy and elderhood and death Plus my all-time favourite quote ever from a man about postmenopausal women, I won’t spoil the surprise but it’s very, very good. The course Kenny mentions in this episode is an online training on how to listen so men speak and how to speak so men listen for therapists, coaches, care-workers, anyone and everyone who wants to pick up these tools for daily life. Inside Manstruation with Alyx Coble-Frakes
Have you ever struggled to explain to the men and non-menstruators around you what you need in your menstrual month? Or why you might seem to be an entirely different personality week on week? My friend Alyx Coble-Frakes did, and her experiences of frustration have resulted in what is to my knowledge, the first book about periods specifically written for cis-men. Alyx Coble-Frakes is a passionate social entrepreneur. She has 10 years of experience in business and 8 years of experience working in health and wellness. When she returned from the Peace Corps in 2015, she felt out of touch with her own health, so she began a path of healing. This led her to launch a health coaching company and, subsequently, the app The Agenda Period . She has recently authored a book called “Manstruation” which is opening up conversations around periods with men.We chatted about: What non-menstruators need to know about periodsHow they can support the people around them (and not just when they are menstruating!)How Alyx wrote her new book in just 6 weeksHow Alyx discovered the power of cycle syncing The problem and lack of safety with most period tracking appsThe surprising power of celebrating your first period in retrospectHow Alyx shifted away from perfectionism to self-compassionAnd much more!Free sign up for Manstruation a field guide https://mailchi.mp/theagendaperiod/vjrwgryv9pInstagram https://www.instagram.com/theagendaperiod/Website https://www.theagendaperiod.com/ You can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside the crone – how to have a bad ass postmenopause
My guest today is a proper badass hag. Jane Hardwicke Collings is a grandmother, former homebirth midwife for 30 years, a teacher, writer and menstrual educator. She gives workshops on mother and daughter preparation for menstruation, the spiritual practice of menstruation, and the sacred dimensions of pregnancy, birth and menopause. Jane founded and runs The School of Shamanic Womancraft, an international Women’s Mysteries School.I wanted to know how to be a fab elder, or hag or crone because there really aren’t so many positive role models or much signposting. We discussed:o What menopause taught Jane about being an elder. o The importance of owning our language and how we name ourselves: hag, crone, elder, wise womano How to balance following your passion with caring for being in an ageing body. o How can we protect against the mental effects of ageingo How do we counteract the miserable narratives about older womeno What Jane wished she had known in her 40’so How Jane’s relationship with death illuminates her day-to-day living You’ll notice in the conversation that though we both use a seasonal structure as a map for life, Jane and I do this differently. Jane sees one cycle through the seasons with the end of Winter announcing death, and I see two cycles, with a Second Spring starting postmenopause. Coming to terms: the end of biological fertility
Exploring how we can come to terms with the end of biological fertility and how creative fertility changes postmenopause. You’ll hear five different women, all in different circumstances and each story just blew me away. There is so much courage, healing, endurance and resilience in this coming to terms and I hope you’ll feel as inspired as I was. You should know though, that many of life tragedies are discussed in this episode including baby loss, sexual abuse and suicide so if you’re having a fragile day of it, maybe come back to this episode later. Some of the interviewees wished to stay anonymous so they could speak more freely about their experiences, but they do include:Katie, a postgraduate literature student and farm handGinge Unhinged aka Victoria Hardy – author of My menopause, My Journal, My Rules https://www.instagram.com/ginge_unhinged/Marian, who lives in South LondonWildflower, who helps women get back on track after pregnancy loss and reclaim their creative power so they can move forward with joy and purpose. https://peaceafterpregnancyloss.com/ Julia (Jools) Voce, a creator, a performing and healing artist, writer, clown, activist and childless/childfree mother based in Brighton and the South Downs. You can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside the Innana myth
Decent and Rising: women’s stories and the embodiment of the Innana myth is a book for anyone who has ever felt lost, a failure, that they’re getting sucked deep into dark places that most people would regard as mad. Written by Carly Mountain, a psychotherapist and women’s initiatory guide, who specialises in working with sexuality, relationships and embodiment. The book is published by Womancraft and I just loved it. I first came across this story through Angela Farmer, who you’ll remember from this earlier episode https://www.katecodrington.co.uk/angela-farmer-on-life-an-inside-job/ but Carly takes it to a deeper level. Last week I was lucky enough to have a conversation with Carly about this deeply layered myth and how we can use it to navigate and better understand the dark times of our lives. Fixing menopause
This episode focussed on debunking the narrative that claims menopause is a deficiency that requires fixing with oestrogen, instead of a normal, healthy life event that ushers us into a vibrant, engaged maturity. I feel that if menopause is asking us to love ourselves better, to deepen our relationship to ourselves, then HRT can really help with that, allowing us to put ourselves first. But though HRT can be a lifesaver, when it’s used for a long time to continue to push through when our resources are already depleted, without making any lifestyle changes, it is just saving up problems for later. Rachel Lankester, midlife disruptor, author of Magnificent Midlife, founder of The Mutton Club and host of Magnificent Midlife podcast explores:The faulty menopause research that’s endlessly repeatedWhat symptoms HRT is helpful forThe latest research into HRT and dementiaMenopause and mental healthWhy language mattersRachel’s new project MenoClarity that’s offers free-to-access clear information and evidence-based research Rachel’s website is https://magnificentmidlife.com/ and you can find her book Magnificent Midlife: Transform Your Middle Years, Menopause and Beyond at all good bookshops. Inside Wise Power with Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer
In this very special episode, after a year or more of nudging I have persuaded my teachers Alexandra Pope and Sjanie Hugo Wurlitzer of Red School to come along and talk about their wonderful new book Wise Power: Discover the Liberating power of menopause to Awaken Authority, Purpose and Belonging. It’s published by Hay House and you can pre-order now and get your hands on an actual copy on the 22nd of September. It’s a grand, trailblazing guide to menopause, filled with nourishing wisdom to help you thrive as your empowered, confident self through this transition and into Second Spring. I was lucky enough to read an early copy and it reframes menopause with great clarity and precision, giving you a clear and grounded psycho-spiritual path to plot your way through the storms.I ditched all the boring questions authors get asked and dug into what I really wanted to know to give you the exclusive, inside story on Wise Power. Inside The Change with Kirsten Miller
Last week I had a great conversation with New York Times bestselling author, and funny, warm, perceptive human Kirsten Miller. Her new book The Change just might be a unicorn; it’s a novel whose central are menopause sheroes. And more than that, you are going to want to be their friends. It’s a kickass, feminist novel about how we handle power, control over us and control of ourselves, and the fear that society has for our natural cycles. I already know that if you enjoy the conversations on LAIJ, you are going to love this book. It’s not just me, Marian Keyes says it’s A roar of rage, a pacy page-turner, I loved it with all my broken heart. Read it. You’ll love it. Kirsten is an outstanding feminist author in the YA and children’s space, who spent twenty-five years as a strategist in the advertising industry. During that time, she worked for some of the largest agencies in the world as well as boutique agencies and an eight-person start-up. She’s proud to have quit a senior job at one of the most famous ad agencies in America over an ad that’s described in The Change. I got very lucky because we share a publisher and I got an early copy and the chance to chat with Kirsten, and you are invited to the conversation too … about Roe vs WadeAll the superpowers of menopauseChanging the narrativeThe best ever story about a powerful womenOur role modelsKirsten’s best writing tipsWitchesKirsten’s tip for owning your powerKirsten's website is https://www.kirstenmillerbooks.com/ and The Change is available from all good bookshopsMore information about Katehttps://www.katecodrington.co.uk/Instagram @kate_codringtonSecond Spring: the self-care guide to menopause is available from your favourite bookshopYou will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, then it would be fab if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media.MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtYou can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside connection with Emily Humphreys
If you have listened to or read anything I’ve ever created before, you’ll know that the value of connecting to our bodies is central to everything I do. Interoception is essentially feeling the feelings in the body, it gives us access to our emotions, our nervous system, and our relationships so we can self-regulate.But what stops us from connecting with our bodies, and how can we actually do it? How can we actually listen to our bodies and respond kindly? Especially if we don’t have access to groups or therapists and need to access regulation independently. I get into some chewy and fascinating avenues to unpack connection with Emily Humphries who works with a brand new, and radically accessible technique called Reset Clearing, originated by Angus MacLeod. She came to it through her own burnout at 40 and so specialises in energy illness, or ‘invisible’ illness, which is especially poorly understood by Western medicine. She also specialises in working with men, having raised two sons and spent many years studying the philosophy of masculinity. You can find Emily’s Reset Clearing website at starlingflow.co.ukAnd there’s loads more interesting stuff, all kinds of writing on different subjects on her Linktree: https://linktr.ee/ebmhumphreysWhy do people get ill? by Darian Leader and David Corfield AD4E – A Disorder 4 Everyone – challenges psychiatry where it pathologises survivors of abuse https://adisorder4everyone.com/ and you can find more of their events at https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/o/ad4e-10761277304More information about Katehttps://www.katecodrington.co.uk/Instagram @kate_codringtonSecond Spring: the self-care guide to menopause is available from your favourite bookshopYou will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, then it would be fab if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media.MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3You can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside Biodynamic therapy with Anat Ben-Israel
To celebrate the centenary of innovative psychotherapist Gerda Boyesen, the founder of Biodynamic psychotherapy, I talk to Anat Ben-Israel M.A. Anat explains the central theory behind Biodynamic methods, how these ideas have been integrated into the mainstream of body-mind theory, why Gerda's work was overlooked in favour of her male colleagues, and how relevant this work is to our everyday lives.Anat is a Biodynamic Psychotherapist, a senior biodynamic trainer who has training schools in Israel and the USA, she’s a Training Board member at the London School of Biodynamic Psychotherapy, as well as working with clients privately in her clinic and online. Inside Elizabeth Joseph
To call Elizabeth Joseph an 'influencer' is a bit reductive because she is way more than that as you'll hear in this conversation about perimenopause. She says:My story is a story of transformation: a midlife revelation, revolution, reinvention. A woman who has gone from invisible housewife, plagued by perimenopause, to a social media menopause guinea pig. Who has tried out a range of natural products and approaches - from womb massage to fart pants through mouth taping, tapping and turmeric.Who has a column in a local magazine. Who is writing a book. Who took part in an ad campaign for period pants at the grand old age of 49. My hope is that by speaking up about this potential shitstorm in our lives, with honesty and humour, no other women need ever stumble into perimenopause clueless, lost or alone. You can find her on Instagram at @elizabethjosephnavigating and read her column in Living North magazine. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, then it would be fab if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media.MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtworkPortrait by Lori FitzdoodlesYou can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

How to choose a teacher with Norman Blair
Norman Blair has been teaching yoga for 20 years and draws on many different threads and support. This episode will be interesting for anyone who's signed up to a class or training, and that's most of us. At a time when world-class teachers are available on Zoom, there is a wealth of classes and trainings available but how can we choose? How do we know if the offering is any good, or even if the teacher is a safe person to be around? Norman and I discuss the issues that are often unspoken when we are about to click 'buy now'. It’s a topic that we all encounter, how to choose a teacher, especially when they’re charismatic, wizzy and promise you personal and professional transformation. Norman has an excellent email newsletter which you can sign up to at yogawithnorman.co.ukThe article Norman refers to at the beginning can be found here https://www.katecodrington.co.uk/choosing-a-teacher/ You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, then it would be fab if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media.MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtworkPortrait by Lori FitzdoodlesYou can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Stuck in perimenopause - with Julia Davis
Today we’re talking stuckness. Specifically feeling stuck in perimenopause. But feeling stuck, frozen, ignored, trapped, dead-ended, stiffed… whatever you call it, is something that we can all relate to. There’s a lot spoken about the overwhelm from being too busy in perimenopause, but almost none about how it is when it’s not busy enough. Except perhaps in our heads! Julia Davis is a yoga teacher, mentor and trainer, a specialist in women’s health, and the founder of Yoga Teachers Forum. Julia shares her experience of perimenopause, and of stuckness along with tips and remedies for getting unstuck. You can find Julia at yogateachersforum.org @yogateachersforum on InstagramClasses are at finchleyyoga.com You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, then it would be fab if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media.MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtworkPortrait by Lori FitzdoodlesYou can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

How to handle yourself with Ron de Brito
Ron brought such a juicy topic to Inside Job, because, if we need to know anything, how to handle yourself is definitely at the top of the list. We had a sweet, soulful conversation that covered Ron’s story, along with the approach she uses with clients who are also figuring out how to handle themselves… also known as ‘how to be human’. She’s an Embodied Facilitator, Empowerment and Compassion Coach and Nonviolent Communication Practitioner. Which doesn’t even begin to describe what she offers, which is all heart, vulnerability and properly grounded in an acceptance of herself. Part of the gold this delivers is that she really doesn’t feel the need to fix you. That is rare.Ron has a 6-week course starting on November 2nd which I strongly suggest you check out at rondebrito.co.ukHere are the influences and resources Ron mentions:Gabor Mate https://drgabormate.com/Marshall Rosenburg https://www.nonviolentcommunication.com/about-marshall-rosenberg/Pema Chodron https://pemachodronfoundation.org/Phillip Shepherd https://embodiedpresent.com/about/philip/Sarah Peyton https://nvctraining.com/nvc-trainer/sarah-peytonYou will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and all major platforms, just search for 'Life - An Inside Job'.If you enjoyed the episode yourself, I would so appreciate it if you shared it with a friend or with your community on social media., thank you!MusicTrust Me (instrumental) by RYYZNCreative Commons — Attribution 3.0 Unported — CC BY 3.0Free Download / StreamMusic promoted by Audio LibraryArtworkPortrait by Lori FitzdoodlesYou can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside menopause food with Severine Menem
I talk to nutritional therapist Severine Menem about what sort of things to eat to reduce menopause symptoms BEFORE you start taking supplements. Severine is a menopause specialist and Health Coach for women over 40 struggling with menopause symptoms. She’s also a Menopause Trainer for corporates looking to establish menopause initiatives and support their female talents going through menopause. Inside Gardening with Grace Alexander
In this episode, I talk to flower grower, photographer, writer and consultant clinical psychologist Grace Alexander. I’ve been following Grace for a while because she has a beautiful way of drawing us into her idyllic world of thatched cottages, dusty tones of chestnut, coral, linen and artisan-made objects. These stolen moments of beauty can be sipped at from her Gather community, the seeds that she sells, her newsletter and her new book ‘Grow and Gather: A gardeners Guide to a year of cut flowers’ .It’s a deep conversation about how childhood experience builds us into the people we are today, about slowing down our lives, how to be present, her writing process, her day job as a senior psychologist, how she fits it all in, how she avoids burnout, her guiding sense of social justice, the overriding quality of warmth and how healing that is and the difficulty with nurturing ourselves in our culture of toxic productivity, Plus an excellent top tip for a wonderful inner life.I highly recommend her newsletter, where she can promise flowers and dogs. Angela Farmer
Opportunities to interview a role model don’t come up very often so this is a very special episode. I’ve been fascinated by Angela Farmer because of the quality of vitality, curiosity and playfulness she has in her 80’s. One of my ongoing enquiries is ‘how to age well’ and as you listen, this is what she shares in our conversation.Inventor of the yoga mat, because the floor was just too hard, Angela was one of the first to be trained by Iyengar in the west. She moved from Iyengar Yoga, which was then a rigid structure of poses to be 'perfected' and about how the body looks, to focussing exclusively on the inner world and what the body wants to happen, from the inside. If you are someone who would like to age well, and/or have a yoga practice you will find so much gold in this conversation. The audio quality isn’t that great I’m afraid, but as Angela says, there is a great abundance of beauty in the valley of Eftalou where she lives, but wifi is not one of them. I am just glad the internet connection held. You can join Angela for Zoom yoga classes at angela-victor.comThe email address to enquire about supporting refugees is angelavictoryogashop@gmail.comWhat did you learn from listening to Angela? Inside Grief with Miranda Obiora
Miranda is a rare bird, she has an absolutely golden heart. She’s a sensitive truth-teller, super-smart, a sharer of joy and beauty and my mate. She tells strangers on the street that they have a lovely smile. That kind of person. I blooming love her. We’ve had loads of great conversations over the years but one theme that keeps resurfacing is about grief; time passing, bereavement, the whole ache and joy of it all. We also talk about our experiences of birth, bringing up children and living with teenagers. So I asked her if she’s come and do a podchat because I knew you’d love her as much as I do.I didn’t realise when we arranged the date for the podchat that it was the anniversary of Miranda’s friend’s death, so it’s a raw, tender conversation. We are so blooming lucky that she agreed to share her worldview. We spoke about:The cost of the loss of connectionWhich is the most messed up class in the UKThe problem with the English cultureThe power of vulnerabilityThe challenges facing teenagers todayThe beauty contained within grief and the rebirth that followsManaging judgementHow to develop confidenceManaging loneliness and shameBeing a mum, parenting and the grief that comes with itHow to get hugs out of your teenage kidsThe experience of the emotional body and the body of emotions And I even managed to wrangle a top tip for a wonderful inside life too.The artist Miranda talks about who looked into peoples' eyes is Marina Abramovic and you can find a video of the event on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_pHXPU72SoI'd love to hear your thoughts on grief and parenting, you can find me on Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms soon. Inside the Listening Body with Joanne Avison
This episode is for anyone who is interested in how their body works, and essential listening for anyone who's practised or taught yoga, bodyworkers and movement therapists. In my physiology training, I was taught that fascia was a kind of wrapping that covered all our organs and muscles and bones, I’ve worked with it and touched it all my professional life. It turns out I’ve been holding a highly reductive and mechanical concept of fascia. In our conversation, Joanne explains how fascia is in fact the fabric of our whole form, it’s a sensory organ that holds and expresses our experience of life and our personalityJoanne is a former chocolatier, who has become one of the foremost teachers of structural anatomy for movement and bodyworkers, she’s a member of the Biotensegrity Interest Group, who investigates why we move the way we do and her book YOGA Fascia, Anatomy and Movement is now in its 2nd Edition. If you want to move and feel better and are curious about what fascia is, how it works, how we can nourish it to live better, then stay tuned. You can find Joanne's website here at joanneavison.comGet 10% off Joanne's book YOGA Fascia, Anatomy and Movement is now in its 2nd Edition here.Joanne also recommended reading Scar Adhesions and the Biotensegral Body by Jan Trewartha and Sharon Wheeler.I'd love to hear what your fascia is up to and how you are taking care of yourself, you can find me on Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms. Inside Mindful Creativity with Lucy Irving
Mindfulness is a wonderful thing, life-saving even, but the presentation and language can make it a bit out of reach. Artist, illustrator and author Lucy Irving delivers mindfulness with colour, wit and playfulness in her illustrations, which are hopeful reminders to stay present to the everyday joys and sorrows that are familiar to all of us, especially in lockdown. I first came across Lucy’s work on Instagram where she’s @likeliterallylucy and I was blown away by the sheer joyful daftness and we had a delicious conversation about creativity and mindfulness and how together, they can make us happier. You can find Lucy's beautiful prints, books and very soon, her online courses on her websiteFollow her on InstagramLike her Facebook pageOr watch her on TiktokI'd love to hear your thoughts on mindfulness and creativity and please do send a photo of your creative activities as well, you can message me through Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms soon. Inside Menopause Activism with Uma Dinsmore Tuli
This is a deliciously sweary episode, so if explicit language is not your thing, please choose a different interview. But I have to say it’s very juicy. Uma Dinsmore Tuli is a force of nature, a yoga therapist with special expertise in women’s health, mother of three, and has written four books on yoga for women, including the massive Yoni Shakti now in its fourth printing and updated. Uma is co-founder of the Yoga Nidra Network and has developed Total Yoga Nidra, Wild Nidra and Nidra Shakti: radical creative and intuitive approaches to sharing yoga nidra. I got very lucky and my dear friend Abi Denyer-Bewick agreed to have a conversation with me about perfectionism, how we constantly feel we’re getting things wrong, have to try harder and are just not enough. We ask, what if you couldn’t get it wrong? What if we turned to kindness instead?Abi is a passionate advocate for cyclical living and all things menstrual. She works using the Medicine Circle, Yoga, Sensual Kink and Intimacy practices, Grief Rituals, Eating Psychology and Functional Medicine. But more importantly, she’s an all-round gorgeous person. Inside Letting Go with Lottie Randomly
We can be active and productive and acquire and acquire but if we don’t let go, things get seriously toxic. On all levels. And it’s not something we’re very good at.This is a soulful, sweet meandering conversation in which we cover all kinds of letting go. As well as death, there’s funerals, loss, hope, the menstrual cycle and what that teaches us about letting go, compost, menopause, grieving in covid times… all the best taboo topics. Inside Creative Process with Anne Tannam
I am just fascinated by creative process, almost to the point of obsession, because making things whether it’s visual art, textiles or writing is one of the most important things in my life. It makes me VERY happy. I feel like myself. So I was excited when Anne Tannam agreed to do a pod chat because not only is she a fabulous poet, but she also coaches people to harness their own creativity in business, work and life. So she can do it, and, which is fabulous for us, she can tell us how to do it too! Or actually, give us ways of finding out for ourselves. It took Anne 40 years to start writing and I am so glad she did the author of two wonderful poetry collections, with a third ‘Twenty-six Letters of a New Alphabet’ forthcoming from Salmon Poetry later in 2021. Whatever sort of things you’re interested in making or writing, this episode will improve your life.Anne tells us:How to manage our fears around creative processHow to manage the inner critics that stop or limit our creativityAnne’s journey with her creative processHow to find your voiceDeveloping confidence and feeling our work is good-enoughWhy women especially struggle with creative confidenceThe magic of building a tribe to support your creative processHow creativity is an essential part of being human and how if it’s blocked it impacts the rest of our livesThe ingredients for a vibrant creative processThe value of making mistakesThe value of an intermediary to protect the creatorHow to make the time for the magic to happenWhat to do if you don’t know what medium to useHow to square our creativity with financial returnsAlong with a side helping of Anne’s best tip of a vibrant creative life.Anne’s coaching websiteAnd the poetry can be found hereI'd love to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss, you can message me through Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms soon. Inside Sensual Pleasure with Mangala Holland
I was excited to listen in to Mangala Holland’s wisdom because she knows a lot about pleasure and how to support people to find more of it in their lives in a way that is not about looking sexy for other people. No surprises then, that there is some explicit language in this episode. Mangala is a Women’s Empowerment and Sexuality coach, and facilitator. She describes herself as being on a mission to help pussy-owners become empowered through loving themselves fiercely, celebrating their sexuality, and overcoming the fear, guilt and shame that keeps them playing small. What I love is that Mangala has a beautiful no-bullshit, fluff-free, grounded, dogma-free style. In this episode we discuss:How we can be confident in our sexuality, especially when we’ve been brought up in a culture of shameHow to move from numbness to pleasureMangala’s journey to an authentic, flowing expression of sexualityWhy ‘shoving things up there’ from jade eggs to performance enhancers can create more trauma and block pleasureHow sexual trauma can be played out in ‘healing’ groups, re-traumatising and shaming those who don’t perform as requiredHow to check-in with yourself and thaw out the numbnessHow to check for a ‘yes’ before doing anything downstairsHow sexual problems are more likely to be to do with having a too-tight pelvic floor than too looseHow to build embodied awareness in your genital area and pelvic floorThe toxic power dynamics and abuse present in some tantra organisationsThe problem with selling ‘empowerment’How to tell if a training is safeMoving away from the ‘male gaze’ to feel how we are from the insideAnd what happens when you are with another body trying to find pleasureAlong with lots more hot stuff and, of course, Mangala’s top tip for increasing pleasure in your life. You can find Mangala's website and online program hereTo find support if you have experienced abuse in an embodiment, tantra or yoga class or workshop have a look at the Yoni Shaki Movement or Tantra Not Trauma Facebook group. You can also look at Somatic Experiencing, TRE or search here or here for a therapist that specialises in trauma.I'd love to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss, you can message me through Instagram or have a look at You can buy me a cuppa here Buy The Perimenopause JournalKate's free resource libraryInstagram @kate_codringtonBuy Second SpringPerimenopause Unwrapped online course Perimenopause Starter Kit MusicTrust Me by RYYZNArtworkKate's portrait by Lori Fitzdoodles

Inside Chronic Pain with Leora Leboff
I couldn’t get started with this podcast series without talking to my dear partner in Woman Kind, Leora Leboff. Leora is not only my partner at work but also a very dear friend and an awesome human. I learn so much from being around her. She’s been a therapist for more than a quarter of a century, practising and teaching womb massage, EFT, aromatherapy and Medicine Circles. Mostly focusing on women’s health. One of the most impressive people I know, and you’ll get why when you listen to our intimate, totally up-front conversation. Inside Identity with Angie Litvinoff
I wanted to have a conversation with Angie Litvinoff because she is an inspired healer. She’s a medicine woman, creator of ceremonies and rites of passage and a mentor who is utterly grounded. Very often people who reach her level of teaching and visibility are full of smoke and mirrors, pretence and ego, but Angie makes finding identity so simple and straight-forward and DO able. This translates into a highly effective transformation program and her Online Calm pack: from anxiety to delivery which helps creatives find their true identity and voice. There is some explicit language in this podcast, so if that’s not your thing, you may prefer to listen to a different episode. We talk about:Finding our own identity by keeping it real and ditching the mysticism. The difference between what we want and what we need and how to know which is which.Angie’s simple way to develop a sense of oneness that transcends the ideology, and our longing for approval.Angie’s journey into wholeness from Chile to Tring via Notting Hill.Angie demystifies Shamanism and shows how it can support us every day and how she owned and defined her own identity. How to take back control and be accountable for our actions. How, by getting addicted to the highs of transformational experiences we avoid taking responsibility for our own process and self-care.How we don’t need appropriate someone else’s culture to find healing, because the healing power of the land is right here. The magic of the subtle energy of staying still for long enough. The impact of racism on Angie and her family. Inside Consciousness with John Stirk
This episode is a mind-expanding stonker of a conversation with yoga teacher John Stirk. If you've ever meditated (or tried to) if you work with mind-body healing or have been to a yoga class, this is going to be fascinating. If you’ve not come across him, John has been very influential in the yoga world. He started teaching yoga in 1974, and graduated as an osteopath in 1988, later becoming a fellow of the College of Osteopaths. He ran BodyMind workshops with R.D. Lang. and as well as being influenced by BKS Iyengar and Krishnamurti, also had personal tuition from Vanda Scaravelli. Ceasing osteopathy practice in 2000, John now focusses exclusively on group work. He’s recently published his fourth book ‘Deeper Still’ showing how we can find our inner teacher and all make this journey from sensation into expanded consciousness.I’m your average, sometime-meditator, constantly distracted and no matter how much I long for peace, it is extremely elusive. Except in John’s classes, where almost nothing happens, with only tiny movements, but by the end, I find myself in an extraordinary, expanded state. I wanted to ask John why this was, how even a crazy-head-maginty like me, can reach a state of quiet bliss through sensing into the body.We cover: What consciousness isThe Self and egoThe role of the skin in unifying the egoHow to calm our mindsHow space can be our friend and connect and unifies usMind. Inside Yoga with Catherine Annis
In this episode I have a wonderful conversation with Scaravelli inspired Yoga teacher and trainer Catherine Annis. I’ve been lucky enough to benefit from her classes over lockdown and have found them super-interesting because the focus is on our inside experience, not what the pose looks like. After a class when she was encouraging us to kind-of NOT follow her instructions, I really wanted to talk to her more. I am so grateful Catherine was generous enough to lend her time.In our chat we ponder on:How to move when your body doesn’t want to jump up and down any moreHow therapists and teachers’ voices can penetrate and woundCatherine’s dance training and how she came to yogaHow we internalise critical voices as real truthsHow sexual trauma can be re-triggered from hip-opening How to welcome more diversity and POC into yogaCompetition in the yoga studioA great tip to empty your mindAnd of course Catherine’s tippity top tip for a great inner worldYou can find out more about Catherine's yoga teacher training here and her regular classes hereI'd love to hear your thoughts on the topics we discuss, you can message me through Instagram or have a look at my website where you'll find a wealth of free resources. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms soon. Trailer for Life - An Inside Job
At Life - An Inside Job I aim to help you nourish your inner world and make it a great place to hang out, so your outer world can become more fun, meaningful and satisfying. I chat with fascinating teachers, creatives, therapists and ordinary people who use their interior experience to change their outer world. You’ll get the inside skinny on healing, how to manage mental and physical pain, how to balance your real-life outer world and make your inner world into the best kind of party. A party even one person can enjoy. Our reality is created on our insides, directly from our mind, beliefs and body sensation but until things go wrong, we barely give our inner life any attention at allTruth is, we can tootle along focussing on trying to get a fancy car and a sexy partner and that’s fine until we meet trauma, illness or the next major life transition, and then the lack inner life starts to show as disconnection and emptiness. If your head is a horrible place to hang out, you'll find out what you can do about itOr, if you’re lucky and your insides are fantastic, how to bring more of that fantasticness into the outer world of relationships and shopping trollies. I have been a personal growth junky since the age of 16, when my sis came back from one of those hard-core 80’s personal growth workshops. Thank god there was an age limit in place or my tender teenage self would have been stuffed! Join me to listen to real, raw, juicy conversations with people who know their inside world; I‘ve got inspirational teachers, healers, and guides to life talking about what works. There are amazing artists talking about the creative process and how to let it flow and real people talking about their real lives and what really going on inside.I can't wait to share their inner worlds with you.Contact me through my Instagram or you can find out more about my work on my website where there is an abundance of free resources and information. You will find the podcast on Spotify, iTunes and many more platforms soon.
