[06:15] "Fear of missing business, stops us from creating media." [07:54] "When you are an entrepreneur, you are only as good as your last client. [07:28] "Will houses drop a hundred thousand when we correct. I absolutely think not." [08:02] "Don't take my word for it. Speak to your loan professional, but rates have to go up." 07/28/2021 640 min 0 sec

Greetings and Welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast; I am your host, Peter Lorimer, Partner/VP of Corcoran Global Living in Los Angeles and master motivator. Do you want to know how to keep clients 10+ years and beyond? I'll be going over all the tips and strategies I have deployed to create a loyal and loving client base. The most important takeaway is this – what would make the client pick you?   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [02:41] "When most people meet real estate agents, they're kind of on guard, our industry certainly use to have a little bit of a feeling of used car salesman, nothing against you got used car salesman, but people didn't necessarily trust us upfront." [05:40] "What I have done for clients without them even asking is I've arrived at showings in that neighborhood, and I have shown them houses that were sold 10 years ago, some of them would then resold, and I could then follow the arc of the pricing for that neighborhood exactly over 10 years." [07:47] "What I have made a point off, is really sticking my neck out with clients and advising them on design choices." [08:55] "We are real estate agents, we are financial consultants, we are design consultants, we are investment consultants, and it goes on and on and on."   Thanks for being here, PL

Greetings and Welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast; I am your host, Peter Lorimer, Partner/VP of Corcoran Global Living in Los Angeles and master motivator. When I started in the real estate game, I was told to look, act, and think a certain way which completely zapped my soul, making me feel like a complete fraud. My glorious wife and business partner Cindy told me to do it my way, and here is where my niche began. Appealing to the masses will get you nowhere. I hope this inspires you to own your niche and why people want to work with you!   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [02:31] "I tried it the way of this particular company for about six months. And I can tell you, ladies and gentlemen, I was miserable." [02:54] "I remember coming home to my lovely wife, Cindy, and I said to her, Babe. I just don't know if I can do this. I think I'd rather drive a bus." [04:32] "The reason why I was so good with creatives is because I was one of them. I could connect." [05:06] "My unofficial name in LA was the rock and roll realtor, the ex music business guy that got into real estate." [05:42] "If somebody wanted to buy a house that was a sports trainer, I would help him. But to the outside world, My niche was creative." [07:53] "If I sit down with a table full of brain surgeons, I might struggle for compensation, but if I sit down with, an album designer or a tour manager, you know, an artist and this and that, I can speak their language all day, all night." [08:20] "I've been to some of these networking events where it almost feels like Tinder, like people are just there to get a hit."   Thanks for being here, PL

This episode is a new series called Fireside Chat, a more intimate journey where I dig a little deeper into my personal and professional life experiences. Today, I share my first year in real estate, including the failures, the triumphs, and those a-ha life-changing moments.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:58] "I had to kiss goodbye to a career that I had loved for 15, 20 years and took an enormous leap of faith with no income into a new job." [04:27] "I remember speaking to my manager saying, you're advising me to go door knocking. You're advising me to send postcards to a geographic area. You're advising me to do cold calls. What do you say to other people who are joining the industry? And she said without missing a beat. Well, we tell them exactly the same thing." [05:35] "I remember coming home to my wife, Cindy. And I said, I am hating this. I said, I don't feel like a, me. I feel like a fraud. I'm dressed up in a suit. That's really not me. I just want to wear, you know, my music business gear and my sneakers and my shorts and all of that stuff, which you could do in LA, and you still can. And she gave me the glorious words of: "Just do what you want to do. And then the universe will take care of the rest.". [07:24] "My first listing was actually a hundred miles away, but I refused to give it away. I refused, my manager said: -Oh, you need to refer them out. And I said: - Not on your life." [08:37] "If you're unsure, turn up at the property an hour earlier, that you're about to show. Scope it out and then write some notes, go look at where the Starbucks are." [11:54] "I'm in LA and everybody talks about entertainment all the time. I decided to not mention anything to a soul. So the brokerage I was at, I just shuffled in the back. I sat down. I put my hand up as a new agent. I absorbed everything. I asked questions. I checked my ego at the door because I was on a one-way journey." [11:55] "My thing was, I knew the numbers. I knew the streets. I knew the houses. I knew the bedroom count. I knew the comps. I knew them all in my mind. And I had it all in my iPad." [17:07] "Social media allows us to get online and really bare our soul. Really show people who we are really kind of, give it all away. And it allows people to make their judgment calls and our character"   Take a listen and thanks for being here, PL

How To Trust Your Instincts For Success. / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

03/03/2021 656 min 0 sec

Greetings and Welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast; I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, host of the show Stay Here on Netflix, and Owner/Founding Partner of Corcoran Global Living. Trusting my instinct is probably the smartest thing I’ve ever done and one of the most important topics of discussion in my videos. When you can trust your instincts to make that leap of faith, it’s a mighty system of checks and balances that will lead you to success. I share my approach of how educating yourself will only get you 65% of the way there. The remaining 35% is gut.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:31] "you get that gut instinct that you react upon. And it can be just as powerful as spending months, if not years, trying to figure it out." [02:42] "Perfection is the enemy of success." [03:11] "probably for about the past 20 years. I have never figured the entire result out of anything I've ever tried." [07:03] "If you need to make it big decision and you can't get the answer, the power of the pause, but put a time limit on it." [08:53] "if you're in a relationship with someone and it's several months or years down the road and you're like, well, he's going to get better, he just is. Chances are, he's not." [10:02] "if you can learn to trust your gut on a daily basis, you will be rocketed into the fourth dimension."   Take a listen and thanks for being here, PL

I Turned Down George Michael, Biggest Mistake In My Career / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

02/24/2021 868 min 0 sec

Greetings and Welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast; I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now the host of the show Stay Here on Netflix, and Owner/Founding Partner of Corcoran Global Living. Back in the ’90s, when I was a young, headstrong record producer, I was asked to work with George Michael by George himself and I turned it down. Regret would be too strong a word, but a colossal mistake — YES! The silver lining is I learned one of the most valuable lessons in business from that encounter. It was the first time I had to think macro instead of micro, and I failed to see the big picture and the incredible opportunity for my music career. Thinking “WE” instead of “ME” is what I could not comprehend at the age of 24, and it’s haunted me ever since. Click on the link below for a listen and remember, shortcuts lead to dead ends.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:     [01:40] "I see a lot of people getting into business and other businesses where we all have our eye on the prize" [04:32] "because it was a B level studio, a lot of people didn't have engineers, so they used me as their engineer. I got a really good name as being someone that could really nail electronic music." [05:09] "I remixed like David Bowie, I remixed De La Soul, Queen Latifah, I remixed Monie Love, I remixed INXS. And I notched up a lot of hits, really young. I was probably 21 something, maybe 22." [06:33] "down the steps comes George Michael and George Michael walked in the studio. Now, this was breathtaking because he was the biggest artist in the world." [08:21] "the biggest mistake in my mind was I should have pulled back, which is what I advise all my agents to do now in real estate. Don't just look in the macro. What's the big picture? Don't look at the small picture." [12:46] "There is a way for all of us to win in just about all transactions. There are some exceptions to that, but there is a way for us all to win. And that is the lesson sitting in the chairman's office of CBS records with George Michael, I didn't comprehend."   Take a listen and thanks for being here,   PL

INVESTORS TIME TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE CHAOS OF 2020 / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

12/10/2020 617 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast; I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now the host of the show Stay Here on Netflix, and Owner/Founding Partner of Corcoran Global Living LA. 2020 has been the most chaotic year that I can remember. And with chaos there is opportunity. Today’s podcast dives into how to serve your buyers and investors during the most chaotic part of the year. By fusing together a global pandemic, polarized Election, a second wave of Covid, and interest rates for investment properties that are the lowest I have ever seen this creates the perfect mix of opportunity. I share with you some of my thoughts to take advantage of this market at the end of the year. Naturally, we are not in the business of taking advantage of people who may be suffering from the virus as we must take care of each other first. However, there are may well be people who want to sell because maybe they’re leaving the state who might be open to selling at more of a deal than they would be once the future becomes clear. Alright, let's get into this week's Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast.   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [03:14] "The best time to sell is always spring into summer, regardless of where you are, even if you're up in cold, snowy, Winnipeg." [05:05] "when there is confusion or not confusion, but when the future is a little bit opaque, that's when I'm like, bam, let's go out, let's go shopping.” [05:53] "as an investor or someone that wants to pick up a second home as an investment, for example, you can now storm into the battlefield of confusion and get the sexiest rate I have ever seen in 17 years, ladies and gentlemen, it really doesn't. This is a no brainer."   Thanks for being here, PL

IT WILL NEVER BE THE SAME SO STOP HOPING IT WILL! / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

06/24/2020 801 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. How do we go back to work aggressively, in service, and safely? It has been a devastating time, and I think many of us have chosen to view this as a reset. Much like in 2008-09. In 2008-09, I'd been in real estate for a few years. I was just getting my grip. And then the crash came. And when it happened, we all had the same feeling that we did a couple of months ago. And here's what happened a little over a decade ago: it was about the pivot. When an event occurs, we can rebel against it or we can adapt. If we adapt and evolve, we flourish. Read this before you go further: safety first. For everyone. There are knowns and unknowns, but those that pivot will prevail. Interest rates are the lowest they've been in history. And most of the buyers that are out are the serious ones. And, we don't know what's going to happen in a few months. I always imagine the home is mine when working with a seller, and in many cases right now, I'd say "put it on the market". Get back to work, pivot, stay safe, and tune in to this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [03:11]” When an event occurs or evolution happens, maybe it could be argued that this is evolution, right? The evolution of commerce in the world has been forever changed. So we can rile against it and say: -"no, no, no, no. I'm just going to wait until it goes back to how it was". Or, we can adapt.” [05:13] ”I still have clients, even though I own the brokerage, I'd like to have boots on the ground. I'd like to be in the trenches with my agents." [07:21] "There are probably 50% of the buyers that were out in January and February. I imagine that will last until August when I think 75% of the buyers will be back out." [09:57] “We're not doing open houses. The buyers that are out are legit." [12:12] "I am worried about it coming back because flu season is just a few short months away. So if your sellers want to try and time the market, it is a big fat unknown from October on is a big fat unknown."   Thanks for being here, PL

This one's about the rest of 2020 and what I'm going to do on July 6th to create change, pour myself out for others, and grind. If you're in real estate or finance, you may want to listen to this one. Yes, we have to take precautions and we must be safe. But we can do all that AND still work our asses off. Not only that, we must. So that Monday following July 4th, I'm kicking it into high gear. I'm going to do my bit, and work to be of service for anyone that crosses my path. Dinner really does taste better with friends; we must come together. We must peer into the eyes of those around us and charge together towards a common goal of unity and giving. Hold a beautiful thought. Make it your goal. Share what you have. Help someone else. We're all in this together. Listen in to this week's podcast for more.   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [02:02] “I think even the most ambivalent of citizens is now questioning the system.” [04:34] “All of us who have been touched by what's going on, many of us were going to vote this way anyway, but we all have a voice, we all have a vote, we live in a beautiful democratic society, where we can all contribute to change.” [04:52] “I don't love paying taxes, but I don't mind paying taxes because I love America, and I want to put my money back into the infrastructure.” [05:39] “ Ironically, out of a moment where we were forced apart, we were forced to isolate spiritually, we have come together as a nation, and I want to double down on that, ironically, out of a moment where we were forced apart, we were forced to isolate, spiritually we have come together as a nation, and I want to double down on that, I want to triple down on it, despite what's going on.” [07:58] “Our job is to get up and give, and then the rest of it, nothing to do with us.” [09:18] “We're a big, massive 300 million people community in the United States. And then, of course, 8 billion on the planet. Let's just help each other a bit more. Let's share more. There's plenty for everyone. It's a beautiful place. Let's make it even more beautiful.”   Thanks for being here, PL

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. This chat with Dan Lesniak, author and real estate professional, is all about how NOT to be a squirrel. Find a model, stick with it, and watching it work. Here's how Dan does it: Pick an area to dominate, and make sure it's big enough to be worth going after. And then drill down on it. I'm here for that model. It's all about niching down and really, borderline obsessing over it. Execute, take in feedback, adjust, and tweak. Get it going in the right direction. You don't have to know all the answers on day one, but you have to start. And as you begin, analyze and refine along the way. His number one productivity tip is to start your day right. Wake up and get ready for the day. Dan rises around 4 or 5 in the morning, gets his biggest tasks out of the way, works out, and spends time with his kids. All before 9 am. I learned a lot from Dan, and think you'll soak in some of these juicy tips as well. A great one to get yourself amped up as you navigate a different kind of normal. Golden nuggets from this episode: [08:26] “if you mail someone a letter, no matter how creative you are with like the fake hand-writing and all that kind of stuff that you can get now, like people can kind of like sniff it out, but if you put it in an unmarked envelope, they immediately think it's like a neighbor or a friend that just dropped something by, so I think the open rates are a lot higher.”  - Dan Lesniak [17:49]  “...if the organization is just you, that's fine, but get it moving in the right direction and then analyze and refine the course along the way, one of the examples I like to talk about to illustrate this is from my submarine days when you're taking the boat to periscope depth, it's a fairly dangerous time, you're underwater, you're using sonar to figure out what's out there and you stick the scope up and you don't want to hit anything. All right. So the first thing you do is kind of like do a 360-degree sweep, make sure that the visual texture matches what you thought the sonar is, and if something's wrong, you gotta order a turn to the helmsmen and it's, either left or right, but if you sit there and try to figure out the perfect course, you're wasting time that it takes to get the ship moving in the right direction. So the important thing is to like recognize the general direction you needed to go give the order, get moving there and then refine it along the way, and I think more people need to take that approach, with real estate and, and just business or anything in general.” - Dan Lesniak [19:11] “You spend 50% of your time learning how to do it, and then 50% doing it” - Peter Lorimer (Francis Ford Coppola) [19:37] “Nothing makes you a better musician than:- you have a gig, it’s 9 o’clock you’re standing on stage and there’s an audience out there. That is when you learn your craft” - Peter Lorimer External links: Dan Lesniak Book: "The HyperLocal HyperFast Real Estate Agent: How to Dominate Your Real Estate Market in Under a Year- I Did it and so Can You!" Never, Never, Never Give In / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

05/27/2020 598 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. We're under siege. But we should never, ever give in. Much like Britain in the midst of WWII, we've found ourselves fighting a terrible enemy. And I for one, will not give in to fear. I recently ran across William Churchill's speech during this time, and it reinstilled in me this: I refuse to yield to fear. As we all navigate what it looks like to return to work safely, remember that fear should never, ever navigate our decisions. Let's work hard, and if we're going to give in to anything, let's give into service, kindness, and compassion. If you're ready to slowly reenter and get back to work, this one's a great listen to get you fired up and confident for what's to come.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:31] “Yes, I'm scared of COVID, we're all scared of COVID like I'm scared of a tiger, but I'm not going to be in fear of COVID, right? This doesn't mean I'm going to be risky, but I'm not just going to be shut up in my home. I'm gonna support the local economy, I'm gonna support local restaurants. I'm gonna support Los Angeles vendors whenever I possibly can, and I encourage you to do the same, but fear shall not be the navigator of this spiritual compass.” - Peter Lorimer [05:18] “Do not let us speak of darker days. These are not dark days. These are great days. The greatest days our country has ever lived. We must all thank God that we have been allowed, each of us, according to our stations, to play a part in making these days memorable in the history of our nation.” - Winston Churchill speech [06:17] “With each challenge, we adapt and we evolve. And if that means we need to wear masks and we need to wear gloves and we need to have social distancing and you know, have gatherings no bigger than two or three or whatever the number is, then we do it. But I have to contribute. I can't just be a wilting flower and watch the world go by.” - Peter Lorimer [08:33] “ I am done being fearful. I will be cautious. I will be helpful, but I will work my ass off as much as I possibly can, even if that means I need to do it remotely for the next six months.” - Peter Lorimer   Thanks, for being here, PL

Using Covid To Reset Your Business / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

05/13/2020 609 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. As we trudge through this crisis and towards a hopeful and new normal, let's not let this opportunity to reset slip through our fingers. While, yes, there's business to be done, there's also a life to live. Yours, in particular. And I think, if you use these spare moments to dive into what you love about yours, you'll come out of this better for it. What was once important may not be as important because we've been forced to stay home and stare it all straight in the face. In this podcast, I share a rather personal story from my wedding that changed the trajectory of my life forever. Don't fight the reset. As tragic as all this is, let's dive in and use these moments to be changed and be better. Listen to this episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur as I dive into practical ways to embrace the reset as well as rather personal anecdotes that have helped me charge through this time.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [01:49] “I think we have had a global social reset, we've had a reset to values, we've had a reset to what exactly is important to us, we've had a reset of how and what our business means to us in the grand scheme of our lives.” [03:20] “So what we do with the kids is we put music on from that country, it might be Vietnam, it might be Italy, it might be Spain, and she cooks a dish and we put the music on, we feel like we're in a restaurant, we talk about it, and we call it a dinner table around the world, and we joke about it.” [06:48] “I then realized what was better for me during quarantine was to actually sit down and make copious notes, which I've done in my lots and lots of moleskin books and strategize about where I'm going and not worry about the present, because at the end of the day, you've heard me say this a million times. I live in Los Angeles. I live in the United States, which I think is the best country in the world. I am going to be fine.” [07:30] “But for those of us who it hasn't hurt yet, and God forbid it ever does, let's utilize this time. Let's stop. Let's pause. Let's enjoy the moment to refocus for the rest of our lives.” [08:02] “I've been married 16 years and I can remember that moment like it was yesterday because it was a moment where I discovered the pause.”   Thanks for being here,   PL

Life After Covid, Day One / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

05/06/2020 483 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. There's still a lot to trudge through, but I really believe that we're seeing the beginning footsteps of optimism. And in this week's podcast, I rant and rave about how we can take our own steps as well. For that to stay on the right track, we all need to proverbially + digitally join hands and stay safe... making sure that we're following protocols and protecting ourselves and others. But, while we do all that, I think we can get back to work. We can get back to our databases. We can get back to reaching out to our clients and prospects via video (Loom and BombBomb). Let's reactivate those databases. Let's reactivate those full-time working days. And let's reactivate serving. Give, give, give... positivity (if you have it), knowledge, and value. Let's collectively do our parts in pulling out of this. It may be a while, but we're not alone. Listen in to this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur for motivation and practical tips on how to get started. Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:31] “ I feel like I'm in a ship and in the distance I can see land. We're going to be pulling into port and we're going to be pulling into port pretty soon.” [03:23] “We now need to reactivate our databases.” [04:21] “I act as if it's already happened.” [05:34] “There are going to be a lot of folks and a lot of businesses that are irreparably damaged by this catastrophe, but I want to do my part to support the American economy by getting off my ass and doing something.” [06:38] “ I do feel with a very, very, very optimistic thread that pumps through my veins that it is optimism, optimism, optimism, not blind optimism, but I refuse to kind of wait anymore.” Thanks for being here, PL

Preparing Your Clients for Post-Covid Market / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

04/23/2020 701 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Real estate agents, buyers, and sellers are wondering what a world post-COVID looks like, and how to prepare for it. On the west coast, there's a concerted effort for us to figure a way out of this. Gentle, small footsteps on the road to optimism. We are trying to figure a way out of this disaster. And a question I've been getting a lot is, "How do we prepare for the market post-COVID?" I really like this question. So much so that I had to cover it in this week's podcast. Also, because I'm never one to rest on my laurels. I'm not one to wait around. I feel rest in staying in action. Of course, we must respect and follow the guidelines of the California Association of Realtors. So, how do you prepare for what's ahead? I find it best to put myself in the mind of my buyers and sellers. I pretend their house is actually my house - and I act accordingly. I've heard a subtle rise of agent chatter, I've spotted more houses on the market, and I've watched a slight increase in escrows...it feels like we're dipping our toes towards a way out of this. We're beginning to thaw out. And when it comes to preparing your clients - data first, always. Let the data talk. We're in a better place now than we were two weeks ago. Above all, stay the course. Keep your spiritual compass pointing due north. Fear is a navigator, but let the light and let service guide you. Bonus: We do not have to do it alone. Listen to this podcast and get prepared with me.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:30] “I’ve always put my mind in the mind of my buyers and of my sellers and I pretended that their house is actually my house.” [03:28] “It feels here today that Los Angeles is beginning not to turn the corner but the very first footstep on the road to optimism has been placed.” [04:00] “I always let the data be the driver.” [05:50] “Video for me is the quickest route to remind people of why they like you.” [07:17] “fear is also a navigator, and we just cannot listen to that fear, we must always listen to service.” [09:00] “The crash in 2008, 09 and 10 came from the financial industry out.”   Thanks for being here, PL

The Art Of Niching Down - An Interview With Rob Jensen - Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

04/21/2020 1561 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Rob Jensen is the president of Rob Jensen Properties. He's commentated for numerous national broadcasting networks, and he's provided commentary for multiple publications. I love talking about niching down, and this guy has definitely done that. His 15 person brokerage specializes in guard-gated real estate. He also gets marketing. Producing content - videos, articles, etc. And he's upped his paid social ad strategy. There are lots of good tips surrounding how and what in this conversation. Oh, and in his spare time, he's an avid rock climber. How does he stay on top of the industry? He spends time reading key players and influencers, such as Robert Campbell, The Timing Letter, 1000watt, and Tom Ferry. He also plans ahead. We chatted about his morning routine and he said his morning routine essentially begins the evening before (most good ones do) when he strategically plans out his entire day. We chatted about the most interesting property he sold (spoiler alert: a castle), and his brokerage's mantra "We always deliver what we promise." Robert is a guy who believes in going back to the fundamentals of good real estate and good business: do a great job. A valuable, well-rounded chat. Check it out.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [07:42] “I remember 2010 which was probably the worst year, where actually nobody wanted to buy in LA. I actually had one of my biggest years as a new agent because I felt that there was an opportunity to take advantage of a market for more of the investors.” - Peter Lorimer [09:05] “I was obviously constantly reminded by my Mom that I didn't go to college to be a rock climber. But, it was kind of funny though because there was actually a good friend of mine that was a professional sponsored climber that was making the transition into real estate at about the time I moved to Vegas. And I went on some appointments with him and it was just love at first sight.” -Rob Jensen [13:54] “you can create some of the neatest content there is but if no one's seeing it then…” -  Rob Jensen [18:31] “In Vegas especially, I feel like the vendors it's just notorious for people being flaky and no-shows... It's just like pulling teeth to get things done and get people to just do what they signed up for.” -    Rob Jensen [22:16] “I think, you know there is definitely something, a common thread between people that start brokerages I feel, which is, it's innate that we wanna share what we’ve learned.” - Peter Lorimer   Thanks for being here, PL

You've Got This - COVID-19 Edition / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

04/15/2020 767 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. I've stayed offline for a moment - we've been dealing with so many problems as a country, and I felt it was right to tighten the reins a bit. But I've been getting loads of questions, and believe that now it's time to address some of them. A common theme running throughout my DMs, emails, and messages is motivation..."How do you stay motivated?" The news fills us with dread - because all of this is massive. So how in the world are we to stay motivated? Stick to your schedule. Honestly, you could stop here. You do this, you'll stay in action and you'll stay motivated. My literature teacher told me the story of a successful British writer who worked from home. Every single day, he rose at 7:30, ate breakfast, showered, and dressed. And then at 10:30, he began writing. Many times he had no idea what he was writing. But he wrote. Me? I wake up at 5, workout, shower, breakfast, and then I get to work. And honestly, I'm busier now than I've ever been. There's no drive time, and I'm filling that extra space with productivity. I refuse to let negativity in. I've always believed we should be intentional and positive, and that definitely doesn't change now. Focus on the light. This industry doesn't get to chart the course for me. I get to do that. Focus on the light, choose action, and use this time well (if you can). Don't waste any time. Don't wait for this to end - act now. You'll find me amping up my creative, dreaming of new marketing strategies, and putting those dreams to work. Listen to this week's podcast for motivation and positivity.   Golden nuggets from this episode:   [01:56] “I’m working longer hours than I worked in a while because there’s no drive time anymore.” [04:09] “Action will always outweigh thinking” [06:43] “I refuse to let the negativity in, I’m not saying there isn’t negativity there, I just don’t let it in.” [07:33] “We can all sense what’s occurring, so we either stand back and cross ou fingers, or we adjust our mindset.” [10:26] “I’m not a ‘waiting for it blow over’ kind of guy.” [11:28] “I don’t wait for the world to navigate me, I navigate me.”   External Links: Loom    Thanks for being here, PL

Market Disruption Playbook ft. PLG Estates & Real Scout / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

04/09/2020 1105 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Many would agree we are in a state of market disruption. And while I do agree, I also firmly believe that we do not wallow in that. We turn the corner. We pivot. And we prepare for the turnaround. One thing I used to hear all the dang time was "if only". Everyone had a case of the "if only"s and it was always, "If only I had time". Well, for many of us, now we do. Time to firm up that marketing strategy. Time to reach out. Time to get that CRM set up and organized. Let's come out of this saying, "Market disruption was the best thing that happened to me in ___ area of my business." To do that we need to put in some work. Because I see an optimistic turn in the next few weeks, and you don't want to look back and wish you'd used this time differently. Client engagement is paramount right now, and as many agents shut down - you should triple down. I have evidence that marching forward, and working with the amazing tools we have in front of us, works This podcast is loaded with tactical steps and tips from my mates Andrew Flachner and Bart Marchioni, over at Real Scout, an amazing tool that is used by myself and many on my team at PLG Estates. We must keep clients engaged with us through this hard time - because there will be a rebound. And it'll be sooner than we think.   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [ 05:17] “You wanna mitigate short term impact to your business but also prepare for recovery.” - Andrew Flachner [06:01] “When we get lemons, it’s our duty to kind turn into lemonade.” - Peter Lorimer [06:06] “Every single person had not enough of a month ago was time.” - Peter Lorimer [06:24] “Look at this as a blessing, because we will look back at this period and go: -S*** I wish I really kind of put everything in order at that point! because we’re gonna be off to the races at some point sooner than you know.” - Peter Lorimer [06:52] “There are many agents who are in "wait and see" mode, or who are hibernating or who are shutting down. This is not the time to shut down, this is the time to double down.” - Andrew Flachner [08:56] “If clients stop considering a transaction altogether, they main not remain  loyal when conditions improve.” - Andrew Flachner [09:13] “Keep clients around for the rebound.” - Andrew Flachner [12:08] “This is not 2008, at least it is not right now. We’re not looking at clubbing out of the hole for years, we need to educate our buyer in and sellers in.” - Peter Lorimer [13:38] “Agents who adapt quickly using new tactics, will find new opportunities to engage their clients and serve their needs.” - Bart Marchioni   Thank you for being here, PL

The Best Medicine Right Now is Hope / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

04/02/2020 321 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Hope is the best medicine. Even though the current reality is quite dark, we can still cling to hope. We can still move forward. And, most importantly, we can focus on service. Serving others is going to be what gets us through this thing. How can you serve? Maybe you should send that note, donate to that charity, help out that elderly person. Kindness like that spreads, and it ignites hope and light in those around us. And that's what it's about. We are going to see cases rise. We are edging towards even darker days. And friends, that's why we need hope now, more than ever. We'll get through this thing. I have my eyes set on it. I believe that in 30 days we're going to slowly emerge from the other side. But we don't have to sit still now. We can offer hope, gratitude, and kindness. We're all gonna need it.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [01:42] “I know that this is a rollercoaster, and I know as a human being and as a father, as an American citizen, the best medicine for us as a nation right now is hope.” [02:06] “One month from now, we’re gonna come through this on the other side.” [02:18] “Every decision we take, we should take from a place of service. Service can also include optimism.” [03:17] “We’re not necessarily afflicted with COVID, but we’ve all been touched by the power of the economic contraction.” [04:08] “I wanna focus on the solution, and I don’t just wanna focus on the problem.”   Thanks for being here, PL

We Need To Come Together Not Fall Apart / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

03/26/2020 458 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. We can choose to either lean into the light or to lean into fear. And it's completely understandable that many are teetering into fear. I really do get it, there's so much uncertainty and darkness out there. We're isolated. It's the right thing, and at home is where we should all be and stay. But that doesn't mean we can't connect. I'm choosing not to OD on binge-watching TV shows or filling my days with solitude. I'm choosing community. Because here's the deal: in real estate, we tend to know a whole bunch of people. A lot. Hundreds of touchpoints, ways to connect. And please hear me say this: In no way at all am I suggesting that now is a time to pitch anything or even mention real estate. I am saying to schedule a Zoom coffee with a friend. I am saying to set up a virtual playdate for your child. I'm also saying to call someone in your database that could use a chat. Community is truly everything, and we thankfully have technology at our fingertips that can help us. And while we have guidelines handed down from the California Association of Realtors (which I wholeheartedly agree with), there are ways, thanks again to technology, to have some business continuity. We can still go to vacant homes and give clients virtual tours. We can (tastefully) double our outreach. Fill in the blanks here and innovate. We may be in the belly of the beast right now, but we don't have to be truly alone. We're in this together. Thankful for this community, my family here at home with me, and my PLG Estates family.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:27] “It’s very easy to lean into the fear, and I don’t blame anybody who’s doing it. But I encourage us all  especially at this time, we need to come together instead of fall apart.” [03:55] “I have seen a bunch of flyers coming through in email that say: - ‘Covid-19 wash your hands and if you got any real estate questions, contact me.’ And I as an end-user, I would unsubscribe and never use that agent again, because it appears like they are trying to capitalize on tragedy.” [04:55] “Community is everything at times like this.” [06:15] “My outreach has doubled and it will continue to double, in part because it stops me from going crazy.” [06:31] “We either lean into the fear or we lean into the light, but this guy will never be leaning into the fear, no matter what happens, even if it is the end of the World.”   Thanks for being here, ❤️ Pete

The Corona Crisis - Life, Business & Family, Faith Not Fear! / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

03/18/2020 504 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Take a deep breath. Pause. It's not time to react. Let's give ourselves a collective moment and gather some clarity of thought. There's a whole heap of unknowns out there right now. Here's what we do know: 1. That we don't know much. 2. We need to practice safe social distancing. Over the past several years, we've all been going, going, going. It's time to stop. We're going to have to relearn this, I think. It's time to breathe, and it's possibly time to create. To innovate. How is business going to be affected? We just don't know. We know that many businesses and hourly employees are struggling right now... and that should urge us to ask how we can help. What does this mean for real estate? Again, it's too early to tell. BUT - this too shall pass. Whenever I have decisions to make, instead of knee-jerking, I do nothing. When in doubt, do nothing. My instinct tells me that we will see a path for the better or worse by the end of the week. So, let's see how it shakes out. Let's wash our hands, practice social distancing, continue with business as usual, and do something meaningful with the time we're gaining from not having to commute or take kids somewhere. And let's remember: there are men and women sacrificing their lives and days and nights to keep us healthy. Healthcare workers, food service employees - thank you. I refuse to let this inject fear into my life. Faith over fear, my friends.   Golden Nuggets from this episode: [02:26] “This too shall pass, what it means to me is even though we are in a moment where we wanna run down the street with our hair on fire thinking: “what’s next, this is the end of the world”, my belief structure and this is only my opinion, I believe this will pass. Yes we will be forever changed by this event, for the positive or for the worst had yet to be determined.” [03:26] “I feel the government are looking to prop up business with interest rates and, I kind of speak from the heart because I at the moment myself I’m in escrow on a new home. [04:06] “When in doubt, do nothing.” [04:41] “I also believe in the power of the pause, right now none of us can predict where this is gonna go. So when I need to ponder a decision, I do just that, I take a pause.” [05:23] “Obviously all for us at PLG Estates are now working virtually and we are all practicing safe social distance.” [05:45] “I as a private citizen, will not be taken down by this. I refuse to let this inject fear into my life. I am a man that has always made decisions based upon faith and never fear, and that will not change today”   Thanks for being here, PL

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Chandler David Smith found success in door-to-door pest control sales, making 96k in his first four months. He's the door-knocking success story. He then invested his earnings in real estate. He's 29 and he has over 120 doors of rentals. I've tended to cast a bit of shade towards door-knocking, but this guy blew me out of the water with his skills and success. Here's what I think I loved most about Chandler: He doesn't care what the rest of the world is doing, he does it his way. You'll get to hear firsthand exactly how he does it, too. It all comes down to three things: verbal, nonverbal, and para verbal communication. Today, he mentors sales reps to sell and invest in real estate. His top three pieces of advice: You need to know when to sprint. Don't bounce around. Know where you want to be. Leverage is huge here. People are constantly bouncing around, with a lifetime of 3-month careers, instead of leveraging and making it all flow, building on top of what they've created. There's also a huge takeaway in this one for real estate agents. Listen up, because you'll learn exactly why you should get to know every pest control guy and gal in your area. You find him here: www.chandlerdavidsmith.com youtube.com/chandlerdavidsmith I can't wait for you to give this episode of The Real Estate Entrepreneur a listen.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [06:27] “Most of the time, if you open the door because someone knocked on your, you already don’t like this guy.” [10:52] “I don’t know if you noticed, but the first thing I did is I got three yeses from you, I asked you questions about your company that I knew I could get a yes, I didn’t want any no’s early.” [11:33] “have planned eye contact breaks, and when you make eye contact again getting a good smile”  [16:00] “For something to work, you gotta run that at, hard, all day, every day for at least a year.”   External links: The Happiness Advantaged - Book Pitch Anything - Book   Thanks for being here,   PL

What's Your Unique Value Proposition? / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

02/12/2020 815 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. The real estate industry is growing more and more vanilla as the years progress. As digital and data grow bigger, creativity and personal interactions begin to decrease. And I'm almost thankful for that. Because now, there's room for creative, entrepreneurial real estate agents to create their mark on all of the vanilla that's permeating the industry today. And it begins with your Unique Value Proposition. What is your UVP? For example, when I started, I had a very small niche. People in the music industry, then it eventually spanned to creatives. That's a key piece of PLG Estates Unique Value Proposition. Go out there and research and discover everything you can about Unique Value Propositions and work towards what yours is. We don't sell houses, we sell trust. It's never transactional - it's always the long game, and that's why knowing your UVP is so important! Check out this week's episode of The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast and get to work on your Unique Value Proposition.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [03:44] “At the end of the day if we can’t differentiate ourselves from everyone else, then it’s kind of like luck of the draw.”  [06:16] “I always try and think of something that I can do to maybe leave a little more on the planet than I take.” [06:43] “If I hear somebody’s “why”, rather than the “how” and rather than their “what” first, I’m gonna be more drawn to them.” [09:54] “There is gonna be more and more technology "vanillarization" of this industry.” [10:18] “At the end of the day, what do we sell? We sell trust, we don't sell houses.” [11:13] “When we focus on our business as transactional we are dead.”   Thanks for being here,  PL

An Interview With Ian Khan, CNN Tech Expert / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

02/05/2020 1865 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Lots of knowledge bombs in this one. We all know I'm a technology nerd. So it's no surprise that I was thrilled to interview this week's guest, Ian Khan. This guy is the real deal. He's spoken at TedX multiple times, he's a Forbes contributor, and an author of some really amazing books, two of which are The Internet of Things, and a CNN Technology Expert. Ian doesn't like hype. He likes authenticity, he likes reality - and I dig it. An engineer by trade, and an educator at heart, he got his hands dirty in a lot of different industries and absorbed everything he could in the first 20 years of his career. One thing led to another (as things usually do on the path to success). When asked about success, he says that his has come from putting himself in an uncomfortable place, time and time again. If you stop growing and adapting to change, then everything is an enemy. We have to make change a friend. We should try to learn something new every day. Take one piece of technology that's been baffling you, take 30 days, and aspire to learn it. We need to be curious. And we need to have some kind of formal education because the world is changing really fast. Absorb, be a sponge. Life is full of failures, but success is right around the corner. Really grateful for people like Ian who lead and make lasting and significant changes in our lives. There's a whole lot of value here, can't wait to hear what you think. You can learn more and sign up for Ian's classes here: www.iankhan.com   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   08:06] “[Technology…] it will never become the hand that holds the hammer, it will only become the hammer.” - Peter Lorimer [09:12] “The Tesla car, the last thing it is, is a car, experts say that it’s a computer that has a car built around it.” - Ian Khan [10:39] “The internet of things it’s a limitless potential technology.” - Ian Khan [12:39] “If you stop growing, if you stop adapting to change, then everything you see is a disruption. Everything is an enemy of the state that you are in right now.” - Ian Khan [15:42] “What we studied at school 10, 15, 20, 50 years ago, it’s not really relevant right now because the world is changing really really fast.” -Ian Khan [24:00] “One of the things that you absolutely must do to add value, is stop thinking about yourself, stop thinking about that paycheck you can get from your client, but start thinking about how can I make the lives of my clients better.” -Ian Khan [26:22] “Your clients are way more valuable when they’re not in a transaction than when they are, or equally as valuable.” - Peter Lorimer   External Links: Ian Khans Youtube Documentary "Blockchain City" Thanks for being here, PL

How To Win The Real Estate Game? Know your UVP / Peter Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

11/20/2019 758 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Winning has nothing to do with getting "what's mine" and everything to do with gratitude. Friends, if you woke up in the United States, you've already won. I realize that there are different levels of this and that there are people in our country that are struggling. That's why we need to be focusing on what we can contribute, instead of what we can get. Start the day with gratitude. When your eyes open, think: what does the day have in store and how can I give back? I grew up in a tough neighborhood, and learned from an early age to suck out of life what was mine. Now, I focus on what I can give back. Wake up with an attitude like that, and you've already won. Listen to this week's podcast as we uncover ways to win and charge forward with gratitude, hope, and ambition.   Golden Nuggets from this epsiode:   [03:48] “when we wake up in the United States we already won”   [05:32] “because when you fill a room with positivity and sincere and authentic optimism it's freaking contagious.”   [07:32] “I remember playing Donkey Kong at level 1 thinking at myself, there is no freaking way the I am gonna figure out how to get to the next level”   [08:39] “I changed my career at 37 and started from ground zero.”   [10:39] “that's my old music business mentality of when I used to make dance records, I used to have to make them for the floor that would work in six months, so I had to really hone my streetwise skills”   Thanks for being here,   PL

5 Secrets To Finding Amazing Mentors / Pete Lorimer - The Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast

10/02/2019 1211 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. This week's podcast is about surrounding ourselves with knowledge. If we want to grow, we have to rub shoulders with those that are more successful than we are. I have to learn. I may have dropped out of high school., but today I drink from the firehose of life. It's my duty to learn. And the best way to do that is by finding a mentor. When I was getting sober, I stopped spending time with people that were distracting me from sobriety. The same is true in business. Spend time with people who will push you towards your goal. People you can learn from and be inspired by. BUT HOW, PETE? Tip #1 - Ask one person out for coffee each week. The fear with this is that they're too busy or don't want to go. 95% of them will say yes. Tip #2 - Once a month (or more), take someone that you admire out for lunch. Tip #3 - Really good mentors are super busy, so you probably need more than one. There are tons of mentors that will never see your face. They'll mentor you in the form of websites, books, podcasts, and videos. Meet some of my favorite mentors that I don't actually meet with: Tim Ferriss podcast Hack the Entrepreneur podcast Seth Godin Casey Neistat Bigger Pockets podcast Ultimately, help others. Give everything you know away. And dedicate yourself to consistent learning. On that note, let's get to it in this week's episode of the Real Estate Entrepreneur Podcast.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [02:07] “for me success isn't something that necessarily I created, success is me following the footsteps of people that have done a very similar thing to what I done, before” [02:23] “having someone go forth before you, is incredibly valuable” [09:45] “getting shut down is part of the gig, if people say no, move on to someone else” [13:30] “when I have had to make business decisions I imagine Richard Branson, is sitting across the table from me”   External links:   Podcasts   Masters Of Scale - Reid Hoffman Tim Ferriss Podcast - Tim Ferriss Hack The Entrepreneur - Jon Nastor Seth Godin Podcast - Seth Godin GaryVee  Audio Experience  - Gary Vaynerchuk Bigger Pockets - Brandon Turner and David Greene   Youtube Channels: Casey Neistat Peter Mckinnon   Thanks for being here, PL

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Today’s podcast I lovingly call my “Jump Out Of A Plane And Find A Parachute On The Way Down” Episode. The old adage of fear vs faith is something of which I have long subscribed. I am notorious for only being able to get 65% of the way there with logic, the other 35% being a massive leap of faith. We are here to create and take risks in business. In this episode, I will go over a few of my theories on how to do just that (along with a few of my favorite anecdotes). So without further ado, it’s time to take a leap into another episode of The Creative Entrepreneur podcast.   Golden Nuggets from This Episode:   [02:00] “the purpose of life is to create a message which when matched with purpose creates impact” [02:47] “if our purpose is clear, if our message is defined then our impact is Inevitable” [04:07] “ if I don't leap first if I don't have faith that I'm gonna succeed, what happens is, the fear can come in and then you can restrict me” [04:53] “possibility plus risk plus commitment delivers success or creativity whichever you prefer” [08:38] “every moment of your existence you’re either moving toward your goal or moving away from it”  Thanks for being here, PL

Top 5 Tips To Avoid Crushing Professional Burnout / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

08/28/2019 763 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Burnout, one of the most paralyzing things in business. It happens to us all (especially in real estate). This podcast covers my top 5 tips for avoiding it - before it takes over. 👉 Prioritize your workload the night before. No one likes waking up to a mountain of work, especially when it all seems equally important. 👉 Work with purpose (by doing things like getting rid of time vampires, A.K.A., toxic clients). 👉 Give away everything you've learned--without prejudice and expectation. 👉 Exercise. (Admittedly, my least favorite.) It's my therapy and making it a priority will immensely reduce stress. 👉 Don't worry about the results. Ultimately, you don't have control over what happens anyways. You simply need to work as hard as you can and let go of the results. Remove the notion that you have control. Friends, burnout is lurking behind every corner. Follow these five tips, and you'll kick it to the curb. Join me for this week's episode of The Creative Entrepreneur to hear more.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [02:37] “at the end of the day we're not gonna get to everybody most likely, we have to get to the people that we need to get to” [05:22] “toxic clients will be a time vampire on you and they will be incredibly demanding they will make you feel crappy you will not enjoy your job you'll begin to hate life and then that stress will build up. [06:08] “give everything away that you have learned without prejudice and without expectation” [09:19] “I don't go to the gym for my body, I go to the gym for my mind.” [10:02] “We are not in control of people places and things, all we are in control of Is us.”   Thanks for being here,  PL

How To Succeed Massively At Real Estate And Stay On Top / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

08/21/2019 819 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. The essence of relevancy involves staying apprised of the current happenings. Meaning, you have to know what's going on all the time. It takes daily work--we should always be evolving and changing. Because, if we aren't moving forward--we're moving backward. To stay relevant, you should constantly be working to know every piece of your craft. Learn and dive all in with it. Next, ACT. Don't react. People hire you for your value-add, and as a real estate agent, a big piece of that is predicting. Take control of your marketing. If you aren't spending money online, carving out your digital identity - it's a matter of time before you become irrelevant. Ultimately, it's about getting in front of people. And creating content for others about you gives them context when they actually do meet you IRL. The fundamental cornerstone of everything: Give it all away. Freely. It works better than anything you could imagine (and it's the right thing to do). It's been the biggest gamechanger in my entire career. Give it away, with your spin on it. Own who you are. Ok, let's get into it, friends. Here's this week's episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.     Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [03:50] “handing over our imprint to other people to do it, handing over our marketing, you know, our footprint, our digital identity to someone else fills me with absolute terror”   [04:59] “you got to be able to predict what's coming, your clients are counting on you to be able to predict what is coming down the pipe”   [06:28] “if you are not spending money online carving out your digital identity I believe it is a question of time before you become irrelevant.”   [10:24] “helping someone paying it forward whatever the buzz phrase is not only does it work, my God it works better than anything you could imagine! But on top of that,  It's the right thing to do it makes me feel good it makes me feel like I have a happier life”   Thanks for being here, PL

12 Rounds with Tyson / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

08/14/2019 857 min 0 sec

Your first two years in real estate are going to be awful. You're going to be full of doubt and fear. And every time you pick yourself back up, you'll get punched back down. For at least a year. For twelve months, expect to get knocked down. Which is why I always recommend that aspiring new agents stash at least a year's worth of living expenses away before jumping in. You'll likely eat ramen noodles for an entire year. I did. Nevertheless, you have to make it 12 months before quitting. It's a benchmark. I've seen it happen time and time again - agents want to quit so badly, and right around that year mark, they land their first deal. You will hear a lot of negativity - namely from yourself. Block it out. Expect the negativity to become fainter, and get prepared for doubt to show up. But don't give up. Because at 12 months, the seeds that you planted for a year begin to turn into sprouts and grow. And then you have a client base to nurture. Don't lose faith. To get yourself through that dark first year, set goals. And maybe not actual dollar amounts. Try setting goals like "get out of debt" or "go to Disney World", etc. You want to lie down at night knowing you squeezed every bit out of the day that you could. So, even when you get knocked down, get back up and keep punching.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [03:08] “your first year to two years is gonna be like getting in the ring with Mike Tyson you are gonna  have your head smashed in” [04:13] “Look at your first two years as an apprenticeship and try and have at least one year's money stashed away.” [06:46] “you just got to last 12 rounds which equates to 12 months right? You gotta last for 12 rounds because if you don't last 12 rounds Tyson's gonna win the match”   External links Three Feet from Gold   Thank you for being here, ❤️ Pete

The Secret Sauce / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

08/07/2019 781 min 0 sec

You can reset your mind every. single. day. And it starts with gratitude. I'm a chronic optimist. Of course, darkness comes. That's why this is a skill. My early days of sobriety taught me to have gratitude. To love and be grateful for what's in front of me. Because life is full of surprises, some days start on a negative foot. So this next tip will give you the tools and mindset you need to power through that doom and gloom that happens from time to time. Start your day with writing down 10 things you are grateful for. This will reset your mind. The fact that you woke up in the United States of America will give you a handful of items right off the bat. We work as hard as we can, going in one direction with patience and energy and gratitude. It's a choice. It doesn't always come easy. And the reality is, you'll have adversity. Moments will be scary. But remember this: adversity is the cornerstone of success. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Starting out in real estate is grueling. When my wife and I started out, we didn't take a breath. We worked HARD. Why? It has little to do with money. We love what we do, we love those that we work with, and we ultimately and absolutely love our children. I know what I want to see when I look back at my life. I want to see more time with my family. Remaining in optimism can be tough. But we have to stay in it.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [04:00] “starting your day by writing down 10 things that you are grateful for will reset your mind”   [06:17] “waiting for divine intervention doesn't mean kicking back home on your sofa watching Netflix, smoking a doobie!”   [07:17] “adversity is the cornerstone of success if it was easy everyone would do it”   [09:49] “I am lucky that I see my children all the time, I make sure that I have a schedule where I can have dinner with them seven days a week”   [11:25] “Negative thoughts are like bullies, if you listen to them, they kind of got you cornered!”      Thank you for being here, PL

Setting Intentions / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

07/31/2019 504 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. I love digital. But I'm about to bust out something analog. Let's dive into how I set intentions. I've tried every note-taking app that exists, but honestly, what works for me is (drumroll, please) a pen and paper. I can keep a lot in my head, but it's incredibly powerful to write something down. Before becoming a real estate agent, I wrote down my goals. They were lofty goals, such as becoming the number one real estate agent in my area, getting married, etc. I lost the book. Several years later, we found it and lo and behold, I'd met almost all of them. Grab your notebook and pen, write down how many transactions you want to do, how much money you want to make, your health goals, your travel goals, etc., etc. If you can't handle something as archaic as pen and paper, I love Trello. Either way, the most important takeaway is this: set your intentions now for the rest of this year and the year to come. The longer you delay, the longer you wait to get started on the path. Give this podcast a listen and take the rest of the year by storm.     Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [03:33] “There is something incredibly powerful about writing goals on paper” [05:12] “I'm famous for saying paper is dead, well paper is dead, unless it's in a Moleskine” [06:41] “if you set your intentions now the giant wheels in the machinery of the Universe will begin to run the cogs together to enable that path to be opened, the longer you delay the longer you wait to walk down that path.”   External Links: Trello Moleskine   Thanks for being here, PL

Kill Vanilla / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

07/24/2019 850 min 0 sec

You can always count on this: things change. There's nothing to fear. We are no longer at the mercy of traditional ways to get our business discovered. Outbound engagement is your tool for staying on top. It's no secret that I prefer video, but there are plenty of other formats to get yourself in front of your tribe. If you don't love being in front of the camera, get behind it. Create vlogs and documentaries that give your audience a 360-degree view of who you are. Love to write? Don't forget blogs. Love to talk? Maybe podcasts are your thing. Either way, you have to start showing people who you are, because commonalities create connections (read: running towards your tribe). Vanilla is pervasive, especially in corporate industries. That's okay, though. That means we can stand out; more business for us. Don't have the numbers you want? Grind. Get up early and work late. And rest in this... it'll all change soon.     Golden Nuggets From This Episode:     [03:33] “proactive agents or proactive business owners are the people who have outbound strategies”   [04:11] “Those of us that take control of our professional destiny's and don't just leave it in the hands of others, in my opinion, will prevail, this is like a Game of Thrones episode!”   [09:07] “The world has completely changed, so surely so should our strategies”   [11:44] “so the three things that drive the real estate industry: interest rates, buyers, and sellers, everything is lined up. The planets aligned to make the glory years. For those of you who are in the industry now who don't have the numbers that you want, this is the time to grind.”   [12:36] “change always comes! It will go from good to bad and then bad to good and vice-versa”   Thanks for being here,   Peter Lorimer

The Art Of Execution / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

07/17/2019 889 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. Stay in action and stay in execution. How do I do this? Admittedly, blindly. I do the next thing on my list. Rinse, wash, repeat. Don't overthink it. Don't let opinions get in the way. Speaking of opinions, when dealing with clients, remove ALL opinion of the other person. Remove the hierarchy and treat everyone the same. In sales, it's one's natural instinct to think about how much you'll get from someone and in turn, that affects your opinion of them. Don't do this. You never know what's going to happen, and your service to someone else should never be affected by the potential dollar amount you hope to receive in return. And here's the key (to all business, IMHO): stay out of expectations. Remove all of them. Get your mind right and show up--that's the meat of it. Don't get caught up in these two words: winning and losing. All winning means is that you're better at not quitting. And on that note, we should never need someone else to give us a high five. Need to get your mind ready for action? Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [03:17] “your opinion of the client should never ever ever be related to how much money you can earn off them” - Peter Lorimer   [05:41] “if we remove our expectations and only remain in service the universe gives us a big ahhhhhh (ovation sound) and keep sending us more and more and more business!” - Peter Lorimer   [06:48] “80% of successful people is about the mindset only 20% is about the execution” - Peter Lorimer   [07:51] “90% of it, is showing up!”  - Richard 'Humpty' Vission   [08:33] “What winning means to me is that you are better at not quitting!” - Peter Lorimer   [09:56] “when you look outside for validation it means you're on the slow road to internal death.” Cindy Lorimer   Thank you for being here, PL

The More I Know, The Less I Know / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. It's a medical fact that we only use about 5% of our brains. All we need to see is what's right in front of us and have faith we will make it the rest of the way. A lot of people look for certainty. For me, the greatest decisions I've made in my life were based on faith and intuition (and my streetwise gut). We must learn to trust our intuition. Base your intuition on your gut (not your head). Your head will talk you out of things and introduce fear. Your intuition will take you places you've never been before. It may just be less about certainty, and more about intuition. The more I learn, the less I know. Let's go. Here's this week's episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [05:39] “we intuitively can figure out what's going on”    [06:41] “We must trust our intuition, that doesn't mean we have to be scared of everyone it means don't base our intuition on fear, it means to base our intuition on the gut!”   [06:52] “If I had listened to my head, I would never left England”   [07:22] “It is a medical fact that we only use about 6 ounces of our brain; that's like you know half an avocado”   [07:32] “95% of our brain is not used yet the other side of our brain really really reacts in an intuitive way”   [09:07]  “the greatest decisions I have made in my life, every single one of them, was based on faith and intuition and my streetwise gut”     External links:   A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness(Documentary)   Innsaei(Documentary)   The Secret

Taking Control Of Your Professional Destiny / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

06/19/2019 1126 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. When the Internet started to become more prevalent, there was an avalanche of information. There still is, every day. How do you make yourself and your brand "sticky"? It starts with Personal Brand Mission Control (your new name for your website). Here's how to do it: Step 1: Build a website that stands out. I tried several platforms and LOVE Squarespace. You get to be in control. Step 2: Create and push out content on social platforms and let the original content live on your website. Create content that is valuable and engaging. Give it all away. Make yourself invaluable. Step 3: Use Facebook Pixel to collect information from your website visitors and then gently market to those visitors. That's how PLG Estates has grown. I work hard, I keep my head out of expectations, and try to give it all away. Let's grab your professional destiny by the reins! Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast.   Golden Nuggets From This Episode:   [02:39] “At the end of the day the only thing that separates us from the machine is personality”   [02:48] “the more you can say about yourself, the more you put out about yourself, the more you stand out against the vanilla noise”   [06:41] “we are not gonna call it website, we are gonna be calling it a personal brand mission control”    [07:12] “I want a hub, I want a mission control where all of my stuff is housed”   [07:55] “Facebook pixel collects the digital data so that I can then re-market it to a crowd that already is interested in me”   [08:30] “if you're provided a company website it's a template that they give to all of their people”   [08:56] “ If you don't stand out, you blend in”   [14:54] “give it all away and make yourself invaluable”   [16:24] “I would say 80 to 85% of all real estate agents I know, don’t even have a website, they just have a page on a company website. Well, that says a whole lot to me if I am looking for you to sell my house!”   External Links: Seth Godin Book - "Tribes" Seth Godin Audiobook - "Tribes" https://www.squarespace.com/   Thanks for being here, PL

The Toxic Comparison / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

06/12/2019 835 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.   There's ALWAYS going to be someone who does more business than you. The toxic comparison starts when you begin to compare yourself and think, "I'll never be there, why should I even try?" Smash toxic comparisons. When I was a new agent, I struggled. I didn't make a penny for almost a year. Some of the best advice I received during that time was to nurture the people that trust me and do not compare. Focus on and nurture the basket of eggs you have (and don't worry about those you don't). Along with stopping comparisons in their tracks and nurturing what's in front of you, I implore you to work. Results are directly related to the amount of work we put in. For every hour you work successfully in your twenties and thirties, you multiply later in life. Let's smash those toxic comparisons together, friends. Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast.     Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:19] “no matter how far up or down the ladder we are, we can't help but compare ourselves to people who are above or people who are bellow.”     [03:00] “there is always going to be someone that does more business than you, And conversely is always going to be someone that does less business than you”   [05:10] “10 million dollar houses very rarely get sold but there are hundreds of 1 million dollar houses that get sold all the time”   [07:26] “I don't look at look at contacts as deals I look contacts as people and people refer people if they like you and I trust you!”   [09:35] “the commodity that fuses with time beautifully is a work ethic”   Thanks or being here,   PL

The Future Belongs To The Brave / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

06/06/2019 1004 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.   The future belongs to the brave. Change can sometimes bring fear. Fear can penetrate our belief structures and we can succumb to letting it take the wheel. And we crash. When Richard Branson launched Virgin Airways, the bank declined funding for the business on Friday night before everything was launching on Monday. What'd he do? Called other industry leaders to find funding. He said if he figured it out - great. If not - what's next? Fear wasn't part of the equation. I go over several other amazing examples of leaders who faced rejection and failures (some 5000x), who were okay with failing and saw wonderful success. "Success is being able to try one more time." - Thomas Edison How do we apply this to real estate? Now's not the time for conservative behavior and old techniques. Utilize the connection economy. YOU cannot be replaced. Here we go. Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [04:15] “When fear takes the wheel we always crash”   [08:36] “Your success represents 1% of your work where as 99% represents failure” - Soichiro Honda   [09:10] “Learn from your failures as one can never learn from success” - James Dyson   [09:24] “as humans giving up is what we are best at, success is being able to try one more time” - Thomas Edison   Thanks for being here,   PL

How to Squeeze Every Drop Out Of The Day - Mastering Techniques In Efficiency / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

05/29/2019 1007 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.   I'm obsessed with efficiency. I want to squeeze every drop out of every day, and it essentially comes down to two words: action and reaction. Tailors waste approximately 15% of their fabric. Let's apply that to real estate. If you're wasting 15% of your time (and honestly, I believe some agents are wasting more), that equates to 6 weeks a year. When working towards productivity, the demons lie in "what next?". It means you're reacting to your day. Make 8 hours a day seem like 16 and stop reacting to your day by calendaring and squeezing every bit of juice out it. For instance, I Uber everywhere. That costs me 1k/month, and while I'm Ubering, I work. I make back what I've spent in multiples. There are so many creative ways to squeeze time out of your day. If you do the things I mention in this podcast, I promise, you'll increase your productivity. Let's not waste time! Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [3:20]  “if you are a tailor, that you are approximately going to waste 15% of your fabric” [5:14] “”What next?” is where the demons lie!” [7:09] “What I think is a crime is that we're all trying to figure out on the day what social media we are gonna post” [12:45] “What happens when I take Uber? I continue to work!” [13:38] “Doing transaction coordinating is at least 10% of your time, at least, it’s probably more!” [14:43] “if I spend the money and after a year I see no results I'll adjust the strategy.”   Thanks for being here, PL

Top Marketing Techniques for Real Estate Agents / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

05/22/2019 891 min 0 sec

Zillow's entrance into brokering could have a big effect on us as realtors. But it doesn't have to. If you're paying Zillow (and other similar sites + apps) to bring you leads, you'll become more dependent on them as they grow more powerful, AND you'll keep giving away those precious margins. There's a better way, and I go over it all in this podcast. Facebook and Instagram are the two most underutilized platforms for building trust and nurturing leads that exist. And they're cheap. I take my geographic and demographic social media strategies and break them down for you in steps. These are the things that, if you don't start doing them now, you'll look back in a year or two and wish you had. Let's simplify it a bit: we don't sell houses. We do, but it's not the number one thing we sell. We sell empathy. If they trust you, they'll choose you over anyone else. Social media is not something you "get to", double/triple down on this and watch it work. Let's do it. Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [03:27] “we are getting a large slice of our business from the digital portals, right? And then the digital portals say: -okay great, we are gonna double our prices! That eats into our margins!”   [03:40] “I think the price of digital data is only gonna get bigger!”   [05:37] “the most underutilized platform that exists is Facebook and Instagram”   [06:29] “we should be double triple quadrupling down on our digital strategies because they 10X all other strategies and they cost 1/10th”   [11:20] “the reason why I'm so passionate about this is because the price is going to go up.”   Thanks for being here, PL

How To Become A Real Estate Ninja / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

05/15/2019 882 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. This podcast is all about how to become a ninja real estate agent (or really just how to kick ass at anything you do). First, let's clear the air. All those experts you see out there--they did not "wake up like this." It takes hard work and time. If I'm going to fail, I'd rather work my hardest and know I gave it my all and THEN fail. To become successful in anything, it boils down to the following three things. Discovery: LEARN, research, find new techniques, and get inspired. Effort: You've learned the techniques, and you're inspired. Now what? You put your own stamp on it. You find something you like and you try it out in your own way. Trial and error. Ability: Become a master of your craft. Spend one hour each day (yes, even weekends) outside of your workday, learning and growing in what you're wanting to become an expert in If you don't evolve, you fade away into obscurity. Time to get started. Here's this week's episode of the Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [05:34] “We can't just sit in a room and expect divine intervention to give us the answers we must learn from other people who are doing a great job at this”   [06:31] “inman.com is something that I look at every single day” -  inman   [06:36] “another one whose opinion I like” - https://1000watt.net/      [06:48] “Now if you are like me and you like video and you like to learn about how to improve the quality of that craft which is beautifully dovetailed into real estate, I look at people like Peter McKinnon” - https://www.youtube.com/user/petermckinnon24   [07:26] “if I said to you - Hey would you like to have some time with Frank Gehry to pick his brains about what makes him tick would you go out for dinner if it was only going to cost you a hundred bucks?”  - Masterclass   [08:25] “a company that is released a product which I think is really very powerful product that is being released across the United States which is a data mining app.” -  Remine [09:25] “you need to be tracking your social media numbers, at PLG we’ve been diving down into an app that I'm really fond of at the moment and its called IconoSquare” - iconosquare   [12:28] “becoming a master of your craft right? That does not happen Overnight it means that we must on a daily basis put at least one hour into those three categories and I'm telling you people I'm telling you for my very bones your game will improve!”   Thanks for being here, PL

How To Choose A Direction / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

05/08/2019 799 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. How did PLG Estates get to where we are today? Well, I got it wrong - a lot. Here's the thing. I see a lot of people paralyzed with the fear of making the wrong choice, so they sit in the middle. Me? When I get that little flutter in my stomach regarding a decision (AKA instinct), I run QUICKLY. I'd rather run 1000 miles an hour towards a brick wall and hit it than stay stagnant. Because then I know I can cross that direction off the list. Once you start running, don't stop. Work 10 hours a day building this thing. Never switch off. If you're putting in 50 solid hours/week towards your goal, you're going to make a dent. Momentum begets success begets momentum. Let's get into it, friends. Here's this week's episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [04:50] “ when you get an idea jump on it quickly”   [05:48] “great ideas can be shot down with what's the ROI”   [07:16] “Nothing will murder your ideas other than talking to other people!”   [07:42] “Edison had to burn through a thousand light bulbs to finally find one that went “ting” and came on.”   [08:52] “Are you putting in eight solid hours a day?”   [10:37] “you're gonna make a dent or you're gonna find out it's not the right direction and your pivot!”   [12:03] “When you get a little success, you begin to get momentum and then momentum begets success begets momentum begets success begets momentum…”   Thanks for being here,   PL

Smashing the I Can't Do It Feeling / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

05/01/2019 846 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates.   It happens to all of us from time to time. That feeling of overwhelm when we think about all the things we have to do. It goes like this. You wake up on a Monday morning and you think, "Not again! I can't do this all over again!" Immobilized. But the truth is, we are only in control of what we can do. I break my day down into one-hour chunks. How do you consume an elephant? One bite at a time. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard. When I was a new agent, I had no talent in real estate. None. BUT, I worked my ass off. Run as hard as you can at your career, every waking moment, for 12 months. Explore every lead, every way you can be of service. THEN, you can make an educated decision on how far you've come. Alright, let's go. Here's this week’s episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets of this Episode:   [03:24] “How do you consume an Elephant? One byte at a time!” PL   [03:38] “Success is linked to did we hit our goal!” PL   [08:50] “Hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard” PL   [09:39] “immerse yourself in your industry completely and then you will receive the education you want”  - My Father   [12:26] “I would much rather fail quickly than live a slow death of mediocrity for the rest of my life.” PL   Thanks for being here, PL

The Blockbuster Effect / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

04/24/2019 758 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. I remember sitting in my little house, and I was watching the Blockbuster Movie Awards. As I was watching the show, a package containing a DVD from my brand new Netflix subscription was placed under my door. Blockbuster and other companies like RadioShack and Toys R Us are in trouble/bankrupt. Why? They remained static; they didn't shift strategies when the world around began to change. When we are having success and we feel like our strategies are going in the right direction, it feels fantastic. The dangerous part--the Blockbuster effect--is when we trust that it's working now and will always work. For instance, Blockbuster seemed untouchable. They never got into streaming; I suspect they thought "This has worked for 10 years, let's just get through this." The world has moved around them, and they've remained static. What does this mean for us? We must constantly keep tweaking our strategies, keep evolving, and keep our eyes on what's happening in the social sphere. "Back in the day" (maybe about 10 years ago), we first started talking about blogging. And now, there's SO much noise. How do we break through? This is where changing strategy is a lifesaver. Original content. Why is it so important? 90% of people out there can't be bothered with creating it or don't believe in it. And that means, if you create original content, you'll break through. Don't rely on the media your company provides you. That's the blockbuster effect of our day. If it isn't about you, if it doesn't have your thumbprint, I believe you'll end up in the same spot as Blockbuster or Toys R Us.   Let's get into this, friends. Here's this week’s episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this Episode:   [06:45] “When we are getting success this is what I urge everyone to do, never stay still…”    [07:13] “10 years ago everybody used to advertise in the LA times”   [09:04] “there is so much noise in our daily life, how do we break through?”   [09:41] “90% of people out there either can't be bothered coming up with original content don't believe in original content, or don't have the ability to create it.”   [10:58] “Innovation is not the enemy!”   Thank you for being here, PL

How to Grow Instagram / Peter Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

04/17/2019 974 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. In this podcast I cover all things Instagram. While 20 minutes isn't quite long enough to get into everything there is (I could talk about this stuff all day), I do believe I cover quite a bit of useful information in this one! Today, Instagram is not simply about having a curated lifestyle feed (although that is definitely still relevant). It's a sophisticated way for us to connect with our clients, and we'd be remiss to not recognize that or utilize these amazing features. There are tons of apps that can help you use Instagram effectively, such as Iconosquare, Sprout Social, and Hootsuite (to name a few). Also, within the Instagram app itself, there's some really powerful data. From collections to insights, there's so much you can do to prospect and determine what makes a powerful post for your audience. A common misconception is that social media is something you "get to." Social media IS your work. THIS is prospecting. Let's get into this, friends. Here's this week’s episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [ 04:40] Iconosquare App -> Available on iOS, Android and Desktop   [05:07] Sprout Social App -> Available on iOS, Android and Desktop   [05:39] Hootsuite App -> Available on iOS, Android and Desktop   [13:08] “To be successful in business now we need to be prospecting through social media we need to be using collections”   [14:12] “I am just a gatekeeper to ruining many hours of your life by you nerding out and getting into the guts of Instagram but if you do it if you take the time, you will flourish!”   [14:42] “Social media is your work this needs to be an integral part of what you do on a daily basis.”   Thanks for being here, PL

How to Control the Outcome of Your Business / Peter Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

04/10/2019 1002 min 0 sec

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Peter Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. When I was a little boy in England, my father said, "If you can find a job that you like, you are going to be happier than 98% of the population." Here's what I see happening over and over again with young real estate agents and young men and women in other careers - they become miserable under the pressure to succeed; they become slaves to their careers and lifestyles. Why? Because they're rooted in the results. Friends, we can't control the outcome. The secret is learning to be happy, whatever the outcome. The ONLY thing you have control over is your actions. There's freedom in this. It's about waking up every single day, busting our asses, and staying out of the results. Let's get into this, friends. Here's this week’s episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [02:42] “if you can find a job that you like, you are going to be happier than 98% of the population!” My Father   [03:34] “there's a lot of people that drive around in maybe an expensive car and then pull into that one bedroom studio apartment in North Hollywood.”    [04:10] “Would you rather make a million bucks a year doing something that you hate or would you rather open an espresso bar in Vietnam and just have a quality of life that is beautiful?”   [04:48] “the pressure to succeed, makes people miserable it makes them slaves to their careers it makes them slaves to their lifestyles”   [05:38] “expectations, ladies and gentlemen, are freaking toxic”   [09:11] “Everyone I met and meet will get amazing service professionally and personally, that's the key!”   [10:12] “get ready cause the next 18 months are gonna be like sitting in the ring with Mike Tyson, and every time you raise your head from the mat, Mike Tyson is going to smack you down again”   [12:55] “the moment you feel like you are working just for money, is the moment it's over!”   [14:39] “we got a long life, but it goes fast!”   Thanks for being here, PL

Technology vs Tradition / Pete Lorimer - The Creative Entrepreneur Podcast

Greetings and welcome to the Creative Entrepreneur Podcast, I am your host Pete Lorimer, former hit record producer, now host of the show Stay Here on Netflix and owner LA’s most creative Boutique real estate firm, PLG Estates. The real estate world has changed and continues to change today. How do you keep up? In this podcast, I go over my top websites and tech tools that help me break through the competition. However, keep in mind. 👇 It's all in the value-add. People are disinterested in your market reports. They want to see you, as a human. Those of us who dig in and figure out who we are as real estate agents and work to contribute to our value-add, we're safe. It's attraction, not promotion. People want to see your face, hear your voice. Treat your clients like gold. So without further ado, let’s dig into this week’s episode of The Creative Entrepreneur.   Golden Nuggets from this episode:   [05:56] “Everything is just attraction, not promotion”   [08:55] “Videos with captions get open 80% more” -> visit rev   [10:06] “get the ability to have much more produced videos on Facebook” -> visit belive.tv   [11:09] “ a website where you can compare and contrast, how your social media posts are doing up against other people” -> visit buzzsumo   [11:52] “create interesting kind of graphics, animations and info videos that just look really nice” -> visit  playbuzz   [12:40] “have a Hitman on your website“-> visit hotjar   [13:25] “an app that allows you to film vertically that that will that will then automatically chop it into 15 second pieces” -> visit  Storeo - iTunes store   [14:05] “this is going to be the future of prospecting” -> visit chatfuel and manychat   [14:44] “People work with you because they like you”   [15:09] “We must be accountable to our clients at all times!”   Thank you for being here, PL
