The ATL Ripper : Atlanta's First Serial Killer
On this episode of TPONR, Mandy and Mich dig deep into the mystery of Atlanta's First Serial Killer. Between 1911 and 1915, at least 20 young African-American women were murdered in the city of Atlanta by a serial killer that is still unknown. The way in which these women were murdered mirrors the style of London’s Jack the Ripper. Their throats were slashed, and nearly all had suffered debilitating head wounds caused by a blunt object. Local newspapers eventually dubbed the killer the Atlanta Ripper. To this day, no one has been convicted for the murders, which are widely believed to be the work of Atlanta’s first serial killer.

Route 29
Route 29 spans 248 miles through Virginia and connects to the North Carolina border, reaches the Francis Scott Key Bridge in DC, and goes as far as Baltimore. Since 1996, there has been an unusually high number of women disappearing on Route 29, and the cases are sporadic, involve various suspects, and may even be narrowed down to one culprit the region has coined the Route 29 Stalker. Stephen W. Kelley
Stephen W. Kelley was found shot to death in a running car on December 28, 2005. He was on his way to purchase some drugs but ultimately, he lost his life. There was no murder weapon, DNA, or witnesses in this case apparently, but the man who murdered Stephen is still behind bars.

The Freeway Phantom
In today's episode, Mandy and Mich explore the murders of who is believed to be D.C.'s first serial killer: The Freeway Phantom. This case involves murder, abduction, sexual assault, and the worst part of it all, the Freeway Phantom has never been caught. D.C.'s first serial killer took the lives of six young Black girls spanning the ages of ten to 18. Listen with caution.

The Southside Strangler
Timothy Spencer, also known as the "Southside Strangler," raped, burglarized, and murdered several women between 1984 and 1987 in Northern and Central Virginia. He was a spree killer that committed most of his crimes over the course of 11 weeks in 1987. No victim survived to identify him, no fingerprints were found, and no one confessed. The DNA tests used linked semen from the crime scenes with his blood. This was the first test of its kind in the United States. Until 1987, no murderer had ever been convicted of a crime based on crime scene DNA.

Love Don't Live Here Anymore
A middle-aged married couple in Fallston, Maryland, had a fiery burning love that eventually fizzled out. Lara Crockett was shot four times by her husband Ricardo Muscolino in their home while their three children were present on August 31, 2016. The couple dealt with infidelity and money problems that eventually led them down a path of ghosts, murder, and scandal. As Rose Royce said in the 1978 hit song… “Love don’t live here, anymore.”

The Black Sisters
This case explores the crimes and murders committed by The Black Sisters. These three siblings killed numerous family members for one evil reason. The Black Sisters all had professional educational backgrounds, and they all wound up working at The Montgomery Female College in Christiansburg, Virginia, in the early 1900s. Here is the story of their lives and their ultimate demise.

This case explores the deaths of Ronzay Green, Armani Nico Coles, and Kerrice Lewis on December 28, 2017. Their murders involved shootings, vehicles, and to no surprise, former D.C. Murder on Swann Street Part 1
On August 2, 2006, Virginia resident Robert Wone decided to work late in DC and needed a place to crash. He decided to stay at his college friend Joseph Price’s home for the night. Within 79 minutes of him stepping foot on the premises, he was dead. Wone’s body was found with multiple stab and puncture wounds and signs of possible sexual assault. Price, along with his housemates Victor Zaborsky and Dylan Ward, claims an intruder committed the murder. No one has ever been charged for Wone's murder.
