FINAL FOUR: Double or Nothing
And with that, we enter into the final four movies of our tournament! Our good friend Howie joins us to discuss two spectacular movies, 2020’s Palm Springs and 2000’s Love and Basketball. That’s right, one of these movies actually has sports in it! And we loved it! Join Ruth, Kristen and Howie to discuss the talent of J.K Simmons, the history of the WNBA, and just how sexual a section of lawn can be.

Jackie, Host of Jackie Watches Stuff and Jackie Plays Stuff joins us this week as we complete this final round of the Elite Eight! Its But I’m A Cheerleader (1999) up against Forgetting Sarah Marshall in this latest match up. Ruth, Kristen and Jackie discuss the hilarious side characters in Forgetting Sarah Marshall, the uniqueness of But I’m A Cheerleader’s storyline, and why we wished the vampire musical was real.

We’re deciding our final challenger in the final four in this week's episode! It’s between Two Weeks Notice (2002) and Some Like it Hot (1959.) We know what you’re thinking: Marilyn Monroe vs Sandra Bullock? Who can choose? Luckily our good friend and new guest Bob joins us today to lay down some very strong opinions…on the movies, and on Sandra’s hairstyle choices.

We’ve got two guests this week! Clara and Gretchen join Ruth and Kristen to discuss Palm Springs (2020) and The Holiday (2006) with this weeks’ theme, endless holiday. The ladies discuss whether both movies have physical and friendship chemistry, if sex truly complicates everything, the importance of the side characters and the lovable neighbor in The Holiday and why Kristen is not allowed to throw surprise parties.

It’s the first week of the Elite Eight! In this latest match up between Love and Basketball (2000) vs. How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days (2003), Tara joins Ruth and Kristen. They discuss if Quincy really wants to play basketball or just following in his father’s footsteps, if Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have any discernible character development, if the women at the magazine are bad friends for writing an article inspired by Katherine Hahn’s dating habits, and how much time the hosts really spent at IHOP in college.

We’re going on a vacation! This week, Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) battles it out against the Netflix original Falling Inn Love (2019). Ruth and Kristen discuss what makes a good movie kiss, the epic Vampire musical, whether Sarah or Peter was the reason for their break up, and why Ruth just wants to watch Bring It On 5 again.

This week we’re going old school! The Philadelphia Story (1940) is up against Some Like It Hot (1959) in this weeks’ screwball category. Ruth and Kristen discuss the iconic actors in this golden age of film, the progressive storylines in Some Like It Hot, if plays translate well onto the screen and if Kristen hates old movies.

We’re taking the competition to the workplace! This week it’s 500 Days of Summer (2009) vs. Two Weeks Notice (2002). In this latest round, we are celebrating the holidays! Happiest Season (2020) goes up against The Holiday (2006) in this festive round. Ruth and Kristen discuss if the characters are redeemable in Happiest Season, who has a better kitchen in the Holiday, and why Iris’s elderly neighbor is the best character between both of these movies.
I Didn’t Know Nike Made Dresses
In this next round, the competition is heating up with Love and Basketball (2000) versus Bend It Like Beckham (2002). Ruth and Kristen discuss females in sports and the cultural implications brought up in both of these films, the messy love triangle between the 3 J’s (Jess, Julia and Joe), the declaration of love in Love and Basketball and why on earth there were so many airplane motifs.

Welcome back to Season 2! This week, How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days (2003) and Drive Me Crazy (1999) are the first to battle it out. Ruth and Kristen discuss the abruptness of Matthew McConaughey and Kate Hudson actually falling in love, if viewers can move past Chase and Nicole getting together while their parents are secretly dating and which of our hosts’ favorite songs was the B-52’s 1989 hit Love Shack.

In this last final four round, Ruth and Kristen invite special guest Luke to compare While You Were Sleeping (1995) with My Big Fat Greek Wedding (2002). The three discuss whether Lucy is justified in her deceitfulness, question the quality of both movies’ narration, applaud Toula's emotional makeover, and ask who is more attractive: Bill Pullman, John Corbett, or potentially even Casper the Ghost?

It’s the Final Four! In this latest round, Ali joins Ruth and Kristen to discuss the contenders When Harry Met Sally (1989) and Crazy Rich Asians (2018). Ruth, Ali and Kristen discuss how Astrid in the best person in their family, if Rachel and Nick should really be together, and if our hosts can truly separate Billy Crystal from the iconic Mike Wazowski.
