The Sci-Fi Podcast - S2E9: EVERYONE IS TRIGGERED!
Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Solo, Nick and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before. Since the beginning of time, probably, man has argued whether things are broadly considered too popular or not popular enough, which in 2019 equates to something being overrated or underrated. In few cases is this more evident than in movies, particularly genre movies, like sci-fi, horror or fantasy. In this episode, your hosts discuss their respective choices for most overrated and most underrated sci-fi movies. Will you agree with their choices? Violently disagree? Will you, too, be triggered? Let us know.
The Sci-Fi Podcast - S2E8: Solo, Station! and Area 51
In this episode, William Solo Jr. and Station! complete the 2-part conversation about the suggested storming of Area 51 and the existence of aliens...particularly in Nevada. Not unlike Mattroid and Sputnik in the first episode, William and Station! explore the fascinating world of alien life on earth, specifically referencing and reviewing Bob Lazar and the documentary, "Bob Lazar: Area 51 & Flying Saucers", among many other things. Is this the first episode of "The Parenting Podcast"? Only time will tell.
The Sci-Fi Podcast - S2E7: Mattroid and Sputnik Storm Area 51...kind of
Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Solo, Nick and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before. In this episode, Mattroid and Sputnik poke fun at all those people foolish enough--or perhaps brave enough?--to storm the infamous and mystifying Area 51 military base. For those not in the know, social media took people to task and a few people started the campaign to give everyone what they want: the truth about aliens and the US Government's involvement. Mulder would be so proud. What are your thoughts? Station! and Solo will be adding their own ideas and comments on this subject and will expand on it with other related content as well, in part 2 of this subject, coming soon. https://nationalinterest.org/blog/buzz/man-who-claims-he-started-%E2%80%98storm-area-51%E2%80%99-facebook-page-reveals-identity-69821

Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Solo, Nick and Station!—and frequent guests. Jonas and Mattroid discuss the newly released X-Men film Dark Phoenix, with franchise fan Jonas enjoying it as much as to be expected and Mattroid delivering some surprising opinions and thoughts on the movie. The other co-hosts were unable to join but will be voicing their opinions in the next episode. With this being the final film in the Fox-run franchise, how does it hold up against the rest? Will Marvel take over from here? When? What are you hoping they'll keep? Change? So many questions about a series with incredibly imaginative characters and stories rooted in social issues and sci-fi wonder. We'll just have to wait and see.
The Sci-Fi Podcast - S2E5: Jean-Luc Picard and Sarah Connor
Welcome to The SciFi Podcast, a wretched hive of scum and villainy a bi-weekly podcast focused on in-depth discussions of all things science fiction. The SciFi Podcast features four hosts—Mattroid, Solo, Nick and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before. WE ARE BACK. That's right. After months off, yours at The Sci-Fi Podcast have opened their cryochambers and have begun to thaw. With the first 50 episodes (and numerous unnumbered episodes to boot) released, it was time to end season one and head into season two. 2019 is shaping up to be an incredible year for television and movies. We've experienced the end of the Marvel Infinity Saga, we'll see the undoubtedly emotional close to the Skywalker Saga, Alien turned 40 and much, much more. In this episode we discuss the return of two storied franchises: Star Trek and Terminator. Seventeen years after the final film in the Star Trek: The Next Generation series, Jean-Luc Picard returns in Star Trek: Picard, on CBS All Access. At this time we have very little to go on, but a newly released trailer has ignited the flames of deep space nerdness and you better believe your hosts are all about it. Terminator made a fairly milquetoast comeback in 2015 with Terminator: Genisys. Arnie made his return as the titular character but sadly that wasn't enough for fans to rally for, and the franchise appeared to be doomed. But! James Cameron wasn't about to let that happen. Later this year we'll welcome the return of Sarah Connor and the Terminator, and the buzz is certainly buzzing. SHOW NOTES: Check out A Damn Movie Podcast! Land of the Creeps! CBD? Based on a season-one segment called "While You Were In the Cryochamber", where the hosts discuss recent life events, Cryochamber episodes aim to emulate that segment while giving ample time to each host so they can discuss topics of their respective choosing. In Cryochamber 1, Nick talks Disney Plus, the highly-anticipated streaming service; it's awesome to hear Nick's excitement on this. Station! exposes her inner Extreme Nerd and goes full Comic Book Guy on X-Men and The Phoenix, in preparation for the upcoming movie. Mattroid basically plays referee and offers virtually nothing outside of evaluating actor Doug Jones in five words. You bet, and you'll learn all about those changes both in this episode and the one following it, but what's most important are the following things: * We have a new co-host and his name is Nick. Expect a tighter overall structure. *We will be covering less newly released content in favor of properties that have been around for a little while. More on this as we go. SLC FanX 2019. The Sci-Fi Podcast: It Came From Planet X - WEIRD SCIENCE!
Some movies are so strange, so bizarre, so ultimately excellent that they belong in their own pocket universe of The Sci-Fi Podcast, known as Planet X! Mattroid will be joined in each of these short episodes by a special guest and together they’ll discuss a relatively unknown movie and any number of related (and unrelated) tangents. The big 50 is almost here! Episode 50, nearly finished in the editing room, is almost live. Until then you've got something to hold you over. This episode's guest is the subtle, quiet-yet-hilarious Zach Merris. The reason Zach was chosen for this Planet X episode is because Zach is an 80s comedy aficionado, huge John Hughes fan, and 80s era music enthusiast - but he doesn't know crap about sci-fi movies. It was also his first time watching this movie, which just so happens to rate as one of Mattroid's all-time-favorite 80s AND sci-fi films - WEIRD SCIENCE. Have you seen it? Chat about the movie in the comments section. There's a big episode coming up, so until then make sure to check out our friends and family at Movie Podcast Network. Podcast production and artwork by Mattroid. Music provided by TMMC. RATINGS: Mattroid - 8.5/10 Zach - 7/10 Show notes: Check out the incredible legacy left by John Hughes, and to learn more about the other movies mentioned in the episode, here you go: The Breakfast Club / Sixteen Candles / Some Kind of Wonderful.

The SciFi Podcast features three hosts—Mattroid, Solo, and Station!—and frequent guests. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before. When we think of comics, the X-Men are up at the top of the list that comes to mind. We conjure images of a berserker Wolverine, Cyclops' optic blast, a torrential Storm, and of course Jean Grey and the Phoenix. We think of these characters, and we thank Chris Claremont for bringing them to us as never before, and for creating some of the greatest superheroes since their inception. With Chris Claremont's X-Men we learn about the franchise and how Claremont came to spearhead a new direction for the team, taking the fabled mutants from whatever to nothing better. While the documentary might suffer from some unfortunate production issues, the material is wonderful. Check it out and let us know your thoughts in the comments section. Each episode we look at a science fiction theme or franchise and take the discussion where no show has gone before. Naboo! Riza! Madmax! One impressive element of sci-fi movies is the setting. Everything from stark, bleak post-apocalyptic Earth to lush and vibrant planets in distant galaxies, the environment and basic tennants of these worlds can inspire us to long for visiting or perhaps allowing us to find a great deal of gratitude for living in the real world instead of what horrors could be. Is Star Wars really so ideal? Would Battlefield Earth be a worse place to find yourself than the Madmax universe? We want to hear your thoughts about these movies, so check the comments section and leave your own. Theme music courtesy of i hear sirens, featuring Matt on bass and Liz on keyboard. Your crew from The Sci-Fi Podcast witnessed thousands of eager geeks prove to each other that there's no place like a comic convention to take in the sights, sounds, and smells of America's beloved nerd culture. Along the way through the three-day event we were fortunate enough to cross paths with the lovely and hilarious Matt Jacobson, who writes for The Spectrum and USA Today. We took the chance to interview him and ask a few sci-fi standard questions, and he most definitely did not let us down. Have you been to a comic convention before? Do you read USA Today? In this fantastically manic episode of It Came From Planet X, Mattroid and new best friend Joel Robertson can't keep their ducks in a row, chatter like spider-monkeys, rarely stay on topic (STAY ON TARGET!) and very well may even manage to discuss the 1984 gem, Night of the Comet, a work of brilliant fiction. Have you seen it? Do you like it? Do you own it? Don't touch that dial, you teenage zombie freaks! Chat about the movie in the comments section. Podcast production and artwork by Mattroid. Here we've got movies that reflect on Earth in the distant future; how things may be different, may be the same, or may be kooky as hell with weird things going on for no apparent reason. The Sci-Fi Podcast: Episode 37 - Life and Displacement
Missing William Solo Jr., fighting a small baby for command of the mic, and covering two unrelated movies? It's all a day in the life of the Sci-Fi Podcast crew. On this episode, Mattroid and Brain discuss the recently released Life and whether or not it'll improve or make your own life worse for watching it. Later in the show, the two are joined by Station! and baby Ripley for a hilarious detailing of the movie Displacement and discover that the movie is tied to a very provocative cable network. Did you enjoy either of these movies? Find them repulsive? Let us know in the comments section. Theme music courtesy of I Hear Sirens, featuring Matt on bass and Liz on keyboard. Another episode of It Came From Planet X, Mattroid and film guru Cody Clark drool over perhaps the most original and memorizing film to come out of the 80s — Terry Gilliam's Time Bandits. Have you seen it? Do you like it? Do you own it? Outrun Evil and chat about the movie in the comments section. Podcast production and artwork by Mattroid. Music provided by TMMC.
