Bonus: Gen V: Three Episode Reaction
Gen V has officially started. With all of the first three episodes coming out at once, there was a lot for us for absorbed. What was there to like? EVERYTHING! What could go wrong? It already has! What was there anything to not like? Probably (spoiler) getting cutoff after the first episode . . . or did they?

Bonus: Gen V Predictions (Before Reaction)
At the time of this episode's recording, we express our excitement for Gen V's three episode premiere by trying (and probably failing) to predict what could happen in the messy (and occasionally bloody) world that is The Boys in the even more messed up setting that is college. Not to mention, making sense of the cast (Clancy Brown, Jason Ritter) and what roles they may or may not play.

34: All Fun and Games . . . Right?
From video games to board games like D&D, and their surprisingly good adaptations (The Last of Us, The Super Mario Bros movie, D&D: Honor Among Thieves, HarmonQuest, etc.), it should go without saying (unless you're doing a podcast), that people are taking games of all kinds more seriously outside of just playing them. We all know about Game Stop vs Wall Street, right? Not to mention the upcoming Five Nights at Freddy's movie, Among Us AND Dead Cells animated series, the Minecraft movie, AND the recent Meta announcements . . . is there anything we won't cover?

33: Seeing More of the Sea
As we've seen in Aquaman, Avatar: The Way of Water, One Piece (both adaptations), Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, and more (that we might've missed) there's been a gradual trend of water playing bigger roles than just something to drink or swim in. From featuring hidden cultures and its people to representing something some deep meaning (no pun intended). Now why is that? And will we be seeing more of it after Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom? That remains to be seen as we pick our brains over all of that and more (that we might've missed).

32: A24
Cedric and Griffin get super WEIRD with this all new episode about A24, we talk about their films from The Whale to The Florida Project. Sit back, relax and get WEIRD.

31: The Superhero Genre Turned On It's Head Part 2
Picking up where they left off with discussing Gen V and season four of The Boys from the last episode, Cedric and Griffin get right back into it over how superheroes have and are still changing for the better. And then there's Griffin's questionable theory concerning a character archetype known as "The Not-Hero." Then again, given the track records of characters from DreamWorks, Netflix Marvel, CW DC, as well as the anime Cedric's recently grown interest in and his surprisingly positive reaction towards Netflix's live-action adaption of One Piece, there probably couldn't be a better term to describe the likes of Monkey D. Luffy (One Piece), Shrek (RIP Steve Harwell), Billy Butcher (The Boys), Loki, Yuji Itadori (Jujutsu Kaisen) and the many more we discuss in this longer than usual episode.

30. Blue Beetle, Invincible, and Peacemaker
The future of superhero properties. Where will they go next and how far? With soon-to-be timeless icons like Jaime Reyes and Mark Greyson (and the other one) making their stand, in spite of all the brutality they face, it really seem like heroes are legitimately coming in all shapes and sizes. Not to mention with Gen V around the corner along with season four of The Boys, it's a no-brainer that Cedric and Griffin will express their excitement for the current and continuing improvements with superhero properties.

29. The Whale and Oppenheimer (So . . . Whalenhiemer?)
After being blown away not once but TWICE, Cedric and Griffin have a lot on their plates after finally getting around to The Whale and seeing Oppenheimer, not only on the big screen, but in IMAX 70mm. From the casts to crew, the scripts to the music . . . needless to say, they've really gone to town on one of their longest episodes yet.

28. Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Reaction
Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy are BACK! And looks like they're here to stay for a while as we cover just about everything we loved about Part 1 of Across the Spider-Verse (especially Spot and Spider-Punk) with a special guest and what more there could be to love as we anticipate Part 2. With infinite types of web slingers and wall crawlers comes infinite possibilities.

27. Guilty Pleasures of Sci-fi Comedies 2: Futurama is BACK!
Back at it with sci-fi comedies, Cedric and Griffin tackle what we may or may not expect from the latest revival of Futurama. And where one ending begins again, there's also Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3 which just ended (supposedly). And of course everything else that's sci-fi with comedy, and maybe James Gunn that we're looking forward to.

26. Comedy Shows Today
Comedy shows have come a long way from what they used to be like a decade ago. That said, what exactly has changed and what makes them stand out, not just as good comedy but good shows in general? Such would include Extraordinary (Hulu), Upload (Prime), Only Murders in the Building (Hulu), and Dave (FX). All of which have new seasons coming. So we'll just have to figure out what chaos, nonsense, and occasional deep moments that might be in store for us and characters who're forced deal with all that potential chaos.

25. The Return of Mando
The Mandalorian HAS RETURNED! That said, Cedric and Griffin try to figure out where things can go from here with more adventures and excitement from the Mando himself and Grogu. And at the same time, wonder if missing The Book of Boba Fett among other Star Wars related shows was a good call.

24. Ant Man and the Wasp Qauntumania Reactions/Are franchises declining in quality?
Did Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania hold up, has Kang the Conqueror lived up to expectations as the new big bad, and what does this mean for the MCU franchise? All this and more will be explored and debated between Cedric, Griffin, and a special guest in this longer than usual episode of The Weekly Standby.

23: Strong Female Leads: Part 1 (Technically Part 2)
By picking up where we left off from past episodes, we (officially) go in deep on how females leads, like video game adaptations, have gotten significantly better and what they mean to us. The includes both the strong and likable side (Karen Page, Shuri, Starlight, Atom Eve, Evelyn, etc) a well as the dark and broken side (Pearl, Mabel, Elektra, Rue and Jules, etc).

22. Rise of the Real Sequels/Predictions for Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania
Are sequels making a comeback? Between Avatar: The Way of Water, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Puss in Boots: The Last Wish, and a couple others, it looks that way. Can the same be said for Ant-Man and Wasp: Quantumania? We'll just have to wait and see as Cedric and Griffin dive deep over what made these recent sequels as well as the previous Ant-Man movies good as they are.

21: The Heart of The Last of Us
Only three episodes in and The Last of Us not only manages to thrill us, but also pull at our heartstrings. That said, Cedric and Griffin try to reflect on what it was about this episode, among others from different tv/streaming series (e.g. Only Murders in the Building, Stranger Things, Bojack Horseman, Naruto, etc.), that got them thinking and feeling. Even to the point of tearing up.

20: The Last Of Us & More
With the HBO adaptation for The Last of Us getting a season renewal, how can we (Cedric and Griffin) not talk about it? The same goes for other video game adaptations, both already seen (Sonic: The Hedgehog) and upcoming (Fallout for Prime), as well as video game related movies/tv shows (such as Mythic Quest and Video Game High School) and how they're getting better.

19. Where She-Hulk Rests Her Rage (for now) and the New Black Panther Roars
Now that "She-Hulk: Attorney at Law" has wrapped up and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" is on the way, Cedric and Griffin discuss whether or not Jennifer Walters held up as a strong female protagonist and if Shuri has what it takes to carry on the claws her brother left behind. Not to mention, if Ironheart has both the iron AND heart to pick up where Tony Stark left off.

18: The Super Mario Bros. Movie Trailer
With the recent release of The Super Mario Bros. Movie trailer, Cedric and Griffin will just have to go in deep on past video game movie adaptations, both good and bad (but mostly bad), and whether or not this one will hold up.

17. Should the Villain Start Winnin? Part 1: Turning to the Dark Side
Things are getting darker as Halloween approaches. So what's a better time then now to get warmed up or chilled down your spine as we discuss how villains, bad guys, antagonists (however they're defined) such as Scarlet Witch (Dr. Strange: Multiverse of Madness) and Gorr the God Butcher (Thor: Love and Thunder), turn to the dark side in their respective films. And yet in that turning, we can't help but feel bad for them.

16: Rick and She-Hulk of All Trades
Between the premiere Rick and Morty's sixth season, the almost halfway mark of She-Hulk, and a good chunk of other Marvel-related content that was recently announced on Disney+ Day, is there anything that Cedric and Griffin won't try (and maybe fail) to cover?

15: Dawn of the Seasons
FINALLY back in action, Cedric and Griffin give their thoughts and feelings of the soon to premiere sixth season of "Rick & Morty" and the upcoming fourth season of "The Boys." That includes, but isn't limited to, if Evil Morty's really "Evil" and if Billy Butcher is any different.
