Home Away From Home
What would you do if you couldn’t go back home? If your home was now victim to genocide? If there was malnourishment spread like a wildfire and martyred women & children more than you can imagine with men searching the rubble for their loved ones? What if your homeland was stripped of its existence, of its nature, of its people? Jenin Amireh is a 20 year old Palestinian-American college senior in Florida. She works with Al-Awda The Palestine Right to Return Coalition, and is the founder of The Al-Awda South Florida Youth Society where she works to strengthen the links behind the Palestinian movement in her area. This episode dives into Jenin’s story of navigating her life away from home. *Cover Art is a digitalization of a picture from when Jenin visited Palestine* To learn more about the Al-Awda chapter that Jenin founded, please check out @alawdasflyouth on Instagram. At the end of this Episode, the poem read was by Reefat Alareer named “If I Must Die.” We honor Reefat as a martyr, alongside his daughter who was also killed. The audio afterwards is a live recording of what everyday sounds like for Gazans, pleading to god and fleeing to help others.
