We all know that we push down emotions, both consciously and unconsciously. But have we stopped to question how that shoving down is holding us back in life?

Dr. David Hawkins in his book, Letting Go, shares that we think external circumstances cause us to be angry, sad, fearful,  fill in the blank, but stress results from accumulated pressure from within, from  guess what - those repressed and suppressed emotions.

He says external events  or circumstances only trigger what we've been holding down consciously and  unconsciously.  When we feel angry about something or someone, it has to do with the feelings of anger we've suppressed or repressed.

It's the feelings we've pushed down  that use external circumstances as triggers or excuses to vent.  We're like pressure cookers, ready to release steam. , when the opportunity rises.  It's because we're angry that events make us angry.

This is huge.  All along, we've had it backward.  We've heard that when we're peaceful within, we'll see peace all around us.  We've thought it's the external stuff and people that are causing us  to blow, to feel sad,  worried, fearful, fill in the blank.

But it's what we've shoved down that is the cause.  And then we create in our mind circumstances to extend thoughts, of anger or another emotion.

In this episode I give your further examples of how we do this and I'll share with you two different ways to release stuck emotions so you can live happier, more joyful lives.
