09 I Don't Have Time!

from Shakin' The Salt · host Dr. Debra Peppers

Back in the day when I was teaching from 6:30 AM to 2 Pm, live on radio 3-6 and then teaching at a University and directing plays and musicals, I barely had time for my husband, family and friends – much less time to sit and read the Bible or do a daily devotional! But a friend of mine challenged me to take 5 minutes at the beginning of each day – while I had coffee and breakfast (if I had time) to read one scripture and say a prayer. She told me to begin by thanking God for the good things in my life, pray for my family, friends, students and colleagues (even if in groups) and then tell Him my troubles and problems and ask for solutions (wisdom.) It was ritual at first but by the time I began to make it a routine I actually looked forward to, I found my day was a disaster if I didn’t take time to pray. I began to get myself off of my mind more, and actually have empathy and concern for those on my prayer list. Prayer didn’t necessarily change things, but it did change me. And now I am praying for you!Support the showSupport our ministry by clicking "Support the show" above where you will be directed to our website.
