11/23/25 1 Kings Chapter 11:9-43 The History God Controls - Pastor George Popovich

from Evening Offering · host George

In this passage we see the consequences of Solomon’s idolatry. Because he turned his heart away from the Lord, God decrees that the kingdom will be torn from his son. God raises up adversaries and appoints Jeroboam to rule over ten tribes. Yet even in judgment, God preserves one tribe as a “lamp” for David, keeping His covenant and His redemptive plan alive. Solomon refuses to repent and instead tries to kill Jeroboam, revealing how far he has fallen. The chapter ends with Solomon’s death and the stage set for a divided kingdom. It’s a sobering warning about the cost of loving the world — and a powerful reminder that God’s faithfulness remains even when we are unfaithful.
