Travis Wren, with his talent for locating the missing, is hired to find Maggie St. James, a well-known author of dark children’s books. Following her trail, he’s led to a place called “Pastoral,” but reaching it ends with him, too, vanishing. It isn’t until years later that Theo, member of Pastoral, discovers Travis’s missing truck. However, no one is allowed in or out of Pastoral, and trying to unravel just what’s happened only reveals secrets that Theo, his wife, Calla, and her sister, Bee, are keeping from each other, which just might darken this isolated world they’ve known as safe.
