Lesley Castle (Dramatic Reading) by Jane Austen (1775 - 1817) LibriVox Lesley Castle is a melodramatic epistolary novelette written by Jane Austen when she was sixteen years old. Although the novels Austen became known for were not published until she was in her thirties, she was an active writer from the age of twelve, frequently composing epistolary works such as Lesley Castle. Austen eventually compiled 29 of her early writings in three notebooks that became known as the Juvenilia and that she called “Volume the First”, “Volume the Second”, and “Volume the Third”, including Lesley Castle in “Volume the Second”.Lesley Castle is set contemporaneously to Austen’s writing and consists of a series of ten letters by five characters, all of whom are women of high society living in Great Britain. In this short work, Austen employs a mock serious tone to humorously critique her peers on subjects such as self-absorption and jealousy. Austen acknowledged in a prefatory note that she left Lesley Castle unfinished; it includes several interconnected storyline Dear Me, It's You Cassandra Martin Dear Me, It's You, is a collection of letters written from Cassandra Martin to herself in her early twenties: a period of time where she struggled to navigate mental health, divorce, and starting over on her own. In this series, Cassandra speaks back in time to herself, sharing wisdom that can only be gained from lived experience. She addresses themes of self care, mental health awareness, and authenticity with compassionate understanding. Letters from Hell by Valdemar Adolph Thisted (1815 - 1887) ciesse "Letters from Hell" is a didactic Christian fantasy novel, with a faint resemblance to C.S. Lewis' "The Screwtape Letters." Otto, the narrator, has died in the prime of life. Through letters, he relates the torments and regrets that are a consequence of the self-centered and dissipated life he led in the world. He also describes the fates of other lost souls who inhabit Hell. (In this work, Hell is not the place of eternal torment, but the "holding area" until the final judgment.)There is also a preface written by George MacDonald. - Summary by TriciaG
