2. Introduction to Libertarianism I

from Radical Austrianism, Radical Libertarianism · host Walter Block

Block says he was a pinko commie type at 22 who believed that laissez-faire capitalism would result in mass starvation. Then, he met Ayn Rand and read Atlas Shrugged and Economics in One Lesson. Block says libertarianism is the non-aggression principle. Keep your mitts to yourself.Libertarianism only asks that law incorporate the non-aggression axiom. It is not a religion. It is not a philosophy. It addresses only what the law should be. It concerns what just law is. You can be a libertarian and an Austrian, or one but not the other. The two are not the same.Block’s book, Defending the Undefendable, tries to apply this theory of libertarianism (non-aggression and property rights) to the hard cases. All continuum problems are hard cases. The homesteading theory is a work in progress.A few fallacies about libertarianism include that you must “live libertarianism”, that libertarianism is against authoritarianism, that libertarians are individualists, that libertarians must be tolerant, that religious people cannot be libertarian, or that libertarians cannot be altruists, or that libertarians are libertines.Lecture 2 of 10 from Walter Block's Radical Austrianism, Radical Libertarianism.

Finding Raffi iHeartPodcasts and Fatherly Raffi Cavoukian is a magical musician. His songs, like “Baby Beluga” and “Down by the Bay,” have wordplay and rhyme schemes that are as crowd-pleasing as they come — sweet, silly sing-alongs for kids and adults alike. But his work is anything but simple. Much like the folk singers who inspired him, a radical philosophy underscores all that he does. In "Finding Raffi,” comedian, writer, and podcaster Chris Garcia takes us on a journey through a 10-part series tracing Raffi’s life from aspiring folk singer to international kids’ superstar to outspoken activist for climate action and a child-centric world. Produced in partnership with Rococo Punch. Farmerama Farmerama Farmerama Radio is an award-winning podcast sharing the voices behind regenerative farming. A.K. 47 - Selections from the Works of Alexandra Kollontai Kristen R. Ghodsee Kristen R. Ghodsee reads and discusses 47 selections from the works of Alexandra Kollontai (1872-1952), a socialist women's activist who had radical ideas about the intersections of socialism and women's emancipation. Born into aristocratic privilege, the Ukrainian-Finnish Kollontai was initially a member of the Mensheviks before she joined Lenin and the Bolsheviks and became an important revolutionary figure during the 1917 Russian Revolution. Kollontai was a socialist theorist of women’s emancipation and a strident proponent of sexual relations freed from all economic considerations. After the October Revolution, Kollontai became the Commissar of Social Welfare and helped to found the Zhenotdel (the women's section of the Party). She oversaw a wide variety of legal reforms and public policies to help liberate working women and to create the basis of a new socialist sexual morality. But Russians were not ready for her vision of emancipation, and she was sent away to Norway to serve
