2001 - a spaced odyssey NYE

from DJ Noël - Classic House Archive

I may have already mentioned what a great flat Andie and I shared in Bethnal Green. With a large living space it was perfect for big parties, and we had a few. Best of the best were our New Year’s Eve extravaganzas. ‘2001: A Spaced Odyssey’ was the biggest headline event I can remember. Andie’s room was earth, floodlit in green, mine was Mars in red, the hallway was a docking station and the main room was space. Everyone dressed up: gay space cowboys, a whole crew of Star Trek ensigns, monsters, aliens, the lot. Clearing up the day after we filled a box with toy ray guns.As with all the best parties, it was a joint effort. Ted designed the invite artwork, Paul, Andrew and Cuneyt dressed the venue after raiding the Paperchase post-xmas sale, I was lights and music. When hosting at home I don’t enjoy DJing through the evening so used to pre-mix the music. This mix kicked in at midnight after Big Ben’s chimes. We start with a few commercial dance favourites from the time, before going into a wad of funky disco house anthems and old skool classics. Ii think I must have run out of time before the party because the last 20 minutes are from a Ministry Of Sound CD. Thanks also goes to Tim Stoller for lending me ‘Salsoul Nuggets’ - my fave track of that Christmas, only available as an instrumental white label at the time.Originally mixed across 4x minidiscs, the mix appears here for the first time as one continuous session. This is the soundtrack from midnight to 5am, at which point we switched to Strangeways Days Vol 2. It’s a big file so may take some time to dload. My fondest memory of the party was at about 8am on New Year’s Day. The sun was rising and a Spanish couple we’re dancing. I’d never met them before - friends of friends of friends - but they had just been reunited as he had been living in Spain. They twirled each other around and around gently, never losing eye contact. A beautiful moment amongst the spilt drinks, fag ends and scattered beer cans!artwork dloadsCD covers from Andrew’s discs of this mix, including Ted’s artwork: disc 1 - disc 2 - disc 32001: A Spaced Odyssey > New Year’s Eve > mixed 26 - 30 Dec 2000 1 - Daft Punk - One More Time2 - Lucy Pearl - Don't Mess With My Man - mood II swing mix3 - Bootleg - modjo / brandy - ladyboy is mine4 - Spiller - groovejet (if this ain't love)5 - Cleptomaniacs - all i do (Stevie Wonder)6 - Soul Vision vs EBTG - Tracey In My Room7 - Braxe & Falke - Intro (runnin)8 - ATFC - Bad Habit9 - Barbara Tucker - Stop playing with my mind10 - Whitney Houston - I'm your baby tonight - dronez club mix11 - Afro Medusa - Pasilda - Knee Deep club mix12 - King Unique - Look ahead13 - Daddy's Favourite - I feel good things for you14 - Junior Jack - My Feelings15 - M&S - Salsoul Nugget (If you wanna)16 - Bob Sinclare / Sister Sledge - feel for you / lost in music booty17 - Gamba Freaks - let's get down18 - Cherie Amour - I don't want nobody telling me19 - Bini & Martini - happiness20 - Moloko - Time is now21 - Sonique - feels so good - can 7 remix22 - Joe Roberts - Happiness23 - Bootleg - talking heads - once in a lifetime - remix24 - Bootleg - bucketheads - the bomb booty25 - K Klass - Show You Love - 99 remix26 - Moby - Body Rock - olav bosaski remix27 - H2O - Satisfied28 -Bootleg noel - ce ce peniston funked up - finally - noel funk mix29 - Gamma Funk - shake my ass30 - Basstoy - runnin' - original31 - Boney M - ma baker remix32 - white label - party children33 - Junior Jack - My feelings - remix34 - Urban Species - alright35 - Xpansions - move ur body36 - Adeva - respect37 - Inner City - big fun38 - Moloko - sing it back39 - Astro Traxx - the energy40 - Brand New Heavies - sat night41 - Diana Ross - upside down42 - Daft Punk/Sub Sub - around the world booty43 - Pete Heller - big love44 - Basement Jaxx - playing with miracles45 - Capriccio - hey everybody46 - Darryl Pandy - sunshine & hap47 - Soulsearcher - i can't get enough48 - Jocelyn Brown - It's All Good49 - MAW - To Be In Love50 - Mocha - higher51 - Byron Stingly - that's the way love is52 - Gat Décor - Passion53 - InDeep / Michael Jackson - Last Night / Bille Jean54 - Club Fiesta - La Fiesta55 - Full Intention - Timba56 - Sade - By Your Side57 - Kathy Brown - Dreaming58 - King Unique - Look Ahead59 - Ministers De La Funk - Believe60 - Phunkie Souls - Tha Music61 - M&S - Salsoul Nugget62 -Cassius - La Mouche63 - MOS Sessions - mixed by Jose Nuez 275.9 MB AAC File 192kbps

The Field Priest Methodius Chwastek The Field is a place of cultivation and of battle. In the Church, we learn to cultivate a life pleasing to God. This life is shaped in the spiritual battle. This series examines, chapter by chapter, the Christian classic The Field, by Saint Ignatius Brianchaninov. Please join me as I explain this great work in terms the modern Orthodox Christian can understand.  Tao Te Ching by Laozi (Author), Stephen Mitchell (Full Audiobook) Laozi Lao-tzu's Tao Te Ching, or Book of the Way, is the classic manual on the art of living, and one of the wonders of the world. In eighty-one brief chapters, the Tao Te Ching looks at the basic predicament of being alive and gives advice that imparts balance and perspective, a serene and generous spirit. This book is about wisdom in action. It teaches how to work for the good with the effortless skill that comes from being in accord with the Tao (the basic principle of the universe) and applies equally to good government and sexual love; to child rearing, business, and ecology.Stephen Mitchell's bestselling version has been widely acclaimed as a gift to contemporary culture. Hyperfluent Hypio Hyperfluent transmits straight from the heart of Hyperliquid, where culture, creativity, and capital converge. Anchored by the architects of Hypio—the decentralized cultural virus—each episode archives the minds engineering the blockchain built to house all finance. These conversations are traceable artifacts in HyperEVM’s evolution: not just what’s being built, but why it matters, how it mutates, and where it’s taking us next. Listen in for the blueprints, the blind spots, and the narrative weapons shaping tomorrow’s markets.Hyperfluent: learn the language, ride the wave, spread the strain. The Brackenfield Records Anvil Audio Productions An off-beat homage to classic radio detectives of the 1940s and '50s, The Brackenfield Records offers comforting genre fare, sitting somewhere between cosy and hard-boiled crime fiction.Whether it's dealing with unfaithful spouses, off-the-rails celebrities, crooked businesspeople, or gun-toting no-gooders, Brackenfield never falters!
