Musicians Ben Ramsden & Joy Nkoyo who met studying composition at Trinity Laban Conservatoire discuss the music conservatory system, as depicted in films such as ‘Whiplash’ and ‘Tár’,  instrumental music as a form of storytelling, the future of Classical music, as well as Ben’s personal journey with composing as a form of catharsis.  Ben Ramsden is an award-winning Yorkshire born composer. Being equally interested in classical and other popular styles of music, he’s developed a unique sound world, writing pieces that sit at a crossroads between genres. His large-scale String Orchestra & Electronics piece ‘To Care’ was premiered at The Southbank Centre in 2019.
