Fue creada por Roberto Gómez Bolaños, también conocido como Chespirito. Se emitió de 1971 hasta 1980. El programa trata sobre las experiencias de varios personajes que viven en una vecindad de la ciudad de México. En la serie vemos las aventuras de El Chavo, un niño huérfano un poco malo pero con buenas intenciones, que vive en el apartamento número 8 de un barrio de la ciudad de México.
